Ricky Hatton vs Paulie Malignaggi

Having said that, I dont think they should've thrown in the towel. It was the 11th round, you might as well have let it go on. We might have just seen Paulie knocked out.

Precisely why his corner stopped it really. It's a little annoying, but its fair call. He didn't have anything to hurt Ricky so no chance of a knockout in his favour, and it had stopped being a contest after about round 5, so all he could achieved was getting knocked out himself. Corner might have saved him some punishment

He was hanging on but to have a ko on your record for that is very soft, he was 'hanging on' but wasnt in any massive danger the fight could have gone the full 12 simple as

Well there was a chance of it. Probably not, but all that was left in the fight was for him to get hurt, so it's not all that controversial a call. I suppose a possibly needless knockout on his record, but he has more problems than that to deal with now. He has no title, and he was taken apart by Hatton, who didn't exactly come roaring out of the blocks himself

CLK, watch that second round again, Hatton has done him sweetly, Malignaggi's legs have gone completely! And that's when he lost any bottle he had for the fight

Dissapointing fight. Malignaggi was constantly holding onto Hatton, no flow in this fight whatsoever. From about round 4 there was no chance that Hatton was going to lose other than a knockout of some sort. Malig simply had nothing to scare Hatton with. At the end of the fight Malig's trainer looked pissed off with him, maybe embarassed by teh way he clung onto Hatton at every moment.

Wasnt Malig's day to be honest, and Hatton had a point to prove as well. Malignaggi is already a difficult guy to hit, so imagine going into defensive mode throughout the fight after being caught cold with a clean punch in the 2nd round. He was really difficult to hit!

The only times he was hit was when he came up to jab Hatton, and he always got caught with an uppercut or hook, and when they hit him, he definitely felt it. Ive never seen malignaggi so slow towards the end of a fight, he must've been dazed.

Gotta say though, I was worried this whole change in training was gonna work against Hatton, but thankfully I noticed that thought he was getting his punches in, he wasnt hit as much as he usually is. Dodged quite a few and kept his gloves up more than usual, which is good.

I for one am happy that Ricky won it, I love that guy and I think he deserves the best, so congratulations due.

Viva de la hoya

do you really think there was a chance of him getting a 10 count ko?

I would say it was unlikely as it was the 11th round, but..

I wouldnt rule it out completely, as Malignaggi was gettin slower and wobblier towards the end.

Not great to watch but Rickys confidence is back and he outclassed PM in the end. Just a shame he didnt but him on his arse. Hopefully get the OCH fight now.

Well done Rick.

Anyone know where i can catch a replay of this fight online?

Sorry brother havent the foggiest but sky should replay it by Friday. I dont think there was a Knock out in that fight, like he said he was more hurt by Cotto. His legs did go but the fact he survived that basically said that he could compete its the same with when Cotto failed to finish after he put Malignaggi down. If he fought the majority of the fight against Cotto with a broken hand and fractured orbital socket, i dont see why this fight was stopped as he wasn't in half the trouble compiled with the fact that Hatton isn't as big a hitter as Cotto

despite the fact he has never been stopped before and fought heavier punchers?

Yes. I was 2 rounds out in my prediction.

All the scorecards scored it the same, Malignaggi won the first, Hatton won every round thereafter, until the stoppage in the 11th

Nothing we didn't all know watching the fight. Must have been one of the easiest contests to judge

The De La Hoya - Hatton fight will be interesting. That said, he's another one of these great fighters that's gone over the hill(lost 3 of his last 6 fights - not unlike Roy Jones, 4 in his last 7). Pacquiao's the best pound for pound in the world but I just can't see him make the step up from super featherweight/lightweight to light middleweight.

pac would be fighting at light middle either welter (the weight at which he is fighting ODLH) or light welter (a weight up from the weight he is now and Hatton's current weight)
Dont be fooled he has lost 3 of his last 6 but all to future HOFs Mosley, Hopkins and Mayweather not a bad resume at all
