Ricky Hatton vs Paulie Malignaggi

Round 5 6 and 7 easily Hattons

With 7 being the worst for malignaggi, got hit clean far too many times.

not quite a cruise he has stopped Paulie from getting a rhythm but he was getting out jabbed in the 6th but he came back stronger in the 7th

He's fecking cruising it CLK

Malignaggi arguably won the first, and since then he's been taken to school by Hatton, who is outboxing him all ends up

Might be a question of when the knockdown comes at this rate

i should show you a fight where someone cruises, Maliganngi is making it a hard fight for him. plus he is getting his jab in caused a little swelling under Hattons left eye. he is doing very well but Malignaggi isnt making it easy thus i dont think its a cruise

q80 you gave 6 to Hatton easily?

5 and 7 mostly, 6 was slightly more difficult

7 especially though.

Round 8 started well for malignaggi, got a good combination through in the beginning.

But 8 is Hatton as well.

It's called hanging on for dear life when you've just had 10 bells of shit knocked out of you

He could barely hold his legs together

do you watch boxing? its a smart tactic of course you hold on should he stand there? he got caught with a punch to the throat that clipped his chin

You're trying to be a clever bastard

It's a walk in the park for Hatton, the very definition of a cruise. Hatton enjoying himself out there

How can you say he's making it a hard fight for him? You call ducking and grabbing hard?

He looks clueless in there.

Malignaggi took the first round, Hatton has dominated since.

Yes I do, and I come across your type all the time, who seem to think they know everything. Hatton hit him hard, and Malignaggi's legs went completely. He clung on, and fair play he survived through the round without much more damage. If he hadn't have held on there, he was on the floor. That's why it was like a knockdown

Malignaggi is not being allowed to fight his fight, I think he is surprised with Hatton's work rate and the way he is pressing. The fight is getting to the point where he would need a knockdown, which he does not have the power for.

Hatton is way over ten stone at this time as well.

Yeah the commentator said he's 11.2 stone.

well when im sparring with someone who does this it is a hard fight. staying close means i cant get snap on my punches thus you cant fully extend, he is very smart in sticking close not allowing Hatton to bang to the body Hatton is doing well when Bayless says work your way out (of a clinch) to get his punches in there

What he means is that he Malignaggi is trying to make himself as small a target as possible, and hes doing that by ducking and clinching.

Hes not able to get his game on, so hes trying to get Hatton to stop playing his game too. But for the exception of the first round, I give it to Hatton.

see that where the problem arises it is like a knock down but it isnt he could hope for it to be scored a 10-8 but i doubt it would be. Im not claiming to know everything but what im saying in terms of that was boxing fact

I know it isn't a knockdown CLK, I was trying to convey that it was worthy of a knockdown, because he only stayed up because he held onto Ricky, because his legs weren't supporting him

I have no idea how you don't think Hatton has taken him apart here though!

That was slightly premature by Buddy McGirt I think.

He was comfortably losing but I don't think there was danger of serious damage.

Best performance I have seen by Hatton in some time.

Probably would have gone to points, he'd been utterly outclassed, not sure he was in any physical danger, bear in mind the undercard fight before this though, poor lad was kept in there far too long and get beaten up heavily, probably in the mind of Malignaggi's corner

Very easy victory, Hatton CRUISED to victory :D

Hatton has done very well dont get me wrong mate, a huge improvement from Lazcano. I was simply stating that Malignaggi wasnt making light work of it either, as the fight wore on Malignaggi lost it and Hatton got stronger

Credit to Paulie for taking the fight. Even I knew that Hatton was too much for the kid.

He's a quick slick fighter but he's was never going to do a Mayweather.

Yeh was a bit of a surprising stoppage that but it doesn't matter Hatton had him. Serves him right for wearing that half skirt thing. I wanted a bit more after staying up till 4 but oh well.

Lol thats a strange stoppage, he wasnt taking a career threatening beating and he is rightly pissed off

CLK, there wasnt a career threatening punch, but mate towards the end he was hanging on, not for life, but hanging on nontheless.

The guy was losing all the way, and it was clear he wasnt gonna land a punch that was going to knockdown Hatton.

Having said that, I dont think they should've thrown in the towel. It was the 11th round, you might as well have let it go on. We might have just seen Paulie knocked out.
