Television Rick & Morty

Episode 1 had a great concept, but ran out of comedy midway through. Episode 2 was absolutely brilliant and 3 was very good as well. By far and away my favorite cartoon show already.

Rick putting the Cog guy's cog balls in his mouth, and then the other two cog guys puking cogs/oil almost had me in tears laughing.

Episode 3 gets dark at the end, still a really good episode though.
Yeah.

Not as Dark as Bojack S02E11 though which I'm still recovering from, so it didn't shock me too much.

I'm not sure what the point is of making him depressed but they've brought it up several times now. Gotta have depth I guess.

Only 4 episodes in, but this season has already been excellent. The first episode was good conceptually but after re-watching a few times my first very good impression (probably also enhanced by the fact it was some new Rick & Morty after months of waiting) has worn off a bit and reading an interview with Harmon and Roiland, I think they are aware of this. They said they were on the cusp of greatness but just could't quite get it all to hold together and as a result, according to them it's one of the weakest episodes.

Episodes 2, 3 and 4 have gone from strength to strength, I had tears from laughing in the metro ride this morning watching episode 4. Could've been a mess of an episode but thought they did extremely well to make in an incredible experience and the emotional pay off was well delivered. Love how they manage to put together a crazy episode like that while at the same time furthering the emotional arcs of most characters. Excellent episode, can't wait for next week's!

I don't know why, but Reverse Giraffe had me laughing for about 5 minutes. I had to pause the video till I could concentrate on the show again.

There was so much going on in the episode, it's going to take a few viewings to take it all in. Mr. Poopy Butthole, Nintendo give me stuff, I do it everywhere don't shame me, Pensylvester, Beth's alcoholism, Sleepy Gary and Jerry's boat fling, 'AIDS!'... So good.

The pilot was actually called "Doc & Mharti" And a lot more crude/rude to say the least. By that, I mean severely pornographic.

It wasn't really a pilot, it was just a bit of messing around by Roiland during a job he hated back in 2006 I think. It's kind of an inspiration for Rick & Morty but not exactly a pilot for the actual show.

I loved the montage of Rick being a dick to Morty

I kept thinking what a great name Pen-Sylvester was during the whole episode, then he actually tells Rick that he can't kill him just because of his great name

And instead he makes Morty kill him. Anyone notice the trend in this second season with Rick getting harder and harder with Morty? He talks to him like a piece of shit! Not that he was nice to him in season 1 to any extent, but he seems to go out of his way to be nasty to him!

 That was the Rixty Minutes episode of season two. It must be so fun to be a writer on this show.
I thought that it was a better episode than Rixty minutes (not sure whether it was funnier), in that Rixty Minutes was very much improvised and the concept was fun and loose but really loads of the shows they were showing us were just filler - which is fine, as it was hilarious. What I liked about Total Rickall was that it was a tired concept (flashbacks, which Harmon loves) that they managed to integrate into the episode as a real narrative device.

Also, Beth shooting Mr Poopy Butthole and it being a mistake has to be one of my favourite jokes of the show, though it was pretty messed up (the ending with her pouring wine with shaky hands was quite disturbing!).

You would say that, Beauregard.
