Television Rick & Morty

That has me thinking it is just an (extremely elaborate) April fools joke. They've killed off the Ricks and Jerry. The Intergalactic federation could be easily replaced by another corporation but the Ricks and Jerry were key to the story and it would be weird moving forward without them

He didn't get rid of Jerry for good, it'll just be an angle where we see them having some angst for a while before they're reunited but the council of Ricks has be confused.

You guys are overthinking it. I think it's a nice way of challenging themselves to imagine up new crazy adventures.

Oh that was nice. The Szechuan sauce plotline I can relate to. I like that after 2 seasons, they're now very much at ease with their tone and their characters and there's something very special about the show that isn't easy to explain or describe, but makes it truly unique.

I'd missed this, and it's going to be hard to wait until this summer.

Probably, just with it being released on April Fool's day it would be one of the most immense pranks of all time!

I think the prank was everyone would think it was an April fools'.

If ever there was a movie/show that exemplified the McGuffin, it's Rick and Morty.

The antagonists are less important than on literally any other thing ever. In the entire history of mankind. Like, ever.

That was so good

"There's a solution here you're not seeing" *shoots self in the head*

They can just come up with new villains and stuff. Doesn't really matter.

Where can I watch this now? I watched 5 mins but had to leave. Looked in my usual place and it wasn't there

I enjoyed the episode, and have watched it twice.

I have one real problem:
So Morty passionately defends Rick and explains that he was only renouncing him to protect Summer and let her have a normal life. Then literally seconds later he willing shoots Rick in the head without knowing that the gun is a fake

Edit:

Although this discussion on Reddit makes some sense to me, but still not much

Whats the big deal about this show is it worth watching?

People who like it really like it in a way similar to shows like always sunny or arrested development, if its your cup of tea its extraordinarily good. It currently holds a 9.3 on IMDB suggesting a lot of people feel that way, to put it in context that makes it the eighth highest rated tv show of all time on there. I don't want to oversell it any more than that because I know rave reviews can often lead to a let down, but its definitely at the very least worth a watch.

I think maybe he is 50/50 with Rick. He does defend him and love him, but by far his biggest loyalty is to his sister.

Remember that he was trying to stop his sister from saving Rick, not because he hates Rick, but because he loves his sister (I think? Need to rewatch).

So when stuck between a Rick and a hard place, he chose his sister

It's hilarious that we are over analysing a cartoon, a fcukin great one (with loads of depth), but still.... @Untied reddit convo makes sense.

The creators are probably scratching their heads at all the theories and analysis.

In fairness, even for an off the wall cartoon, it's much deeper than shite like Walking Dead, for instance. And that thing has a chat show devoted to it.

Im sold.

I actually remember the sauce.

Next they need to bring back those KFC tower burgers from the mid 90s

Whatever is said, its so fantastic that we got an episode.
But equally frustrating we still have to wait more time for more.

Enjoyed it and its good that the insane batshit stuff continues :)

This show is a bloody riot and that's what i love so much about it. Apart from being bonkers it also has moments that punch you in the gut and some super thought provoking quotes, like:

"Listen, Morty, I hate to break it to you but what people call "love" is just a chemical reaction that compels animals to breed. It hits hard, Morty, then it slowly fades, leaving you stranded in a failing marriage. I did it. Your parents are gonna do it. Break the cycle, Morty. Rise above. Focus on science"

I'm very new to it, but that's what I noticed pretty quickly. There's some pretty deep moments that can leave you feeling a bit numb. It really can trigger a bout of existential depression at the drop of a hat.

Actually you nailed it. I remember this episode when Rick & Morty bury themselves in the backyard. That was a real dark moment.

Plus this one episode where Rick's car fails to start & there's a battery problem or something - these guys jump into the battery to see what's wrong and find a bunch of people inside working and making their living off it. In truth, all they do is power Rick's car and their existence is one of futile slavery to which they're completely oblivious.... i actually found this a bit depressing and left me wondering what the hell i was upto, sucked into this vicious cycle of work, earning, taxes, saving and what not...till death.

The ending to that episode, and then the follow up a couple of episodes later when Morty says to Summer "Nobody exists on purpose, nobody belongs anywhere, everybody's gonna die. Come watch TV." are 2 very strong moments.

That bit is super dark.

And the bit in the garage, where he's drunk and tries to kill himself, but falls face first onto the desk just as the laser beam goes off. One of many moments that just leaves you thinking "Fuuuuuuuuuu"

What episode is this please?

Also, is there an over-arching story in this show? I saw someone using spoiler tags in this thread. I've only watched a couple of eps but I thought each one was more or less self contained.
