I never thought I'd say this about Cantona, but awful first pick! Sorry Dan, but there's other strikers out there better than Eric, whilst you could have had other positions sown up with first pick. Anyways, I'll shut up and wait until the voting now.

There is good handful of players on my list to choose first, absolutely incredible players but I am picked the defender born in 1960 who played over 80 games for Italy and 700 games for AC Milan, who was voted the AC Milan player of the century.


I pick Franco Baresi.

Some superb picks so far but this would have been my first if I'd been playing - superb footballer, and hard to see how anyone can better him in this position.

For example, you are 1st in the drafting sequence
After you have made your 1st round pick, you have to wait for the other 15 managers to make their 1st round pick and 2nd round pick before it is your turn to make your 2nd round pick. 3rd round picks start with you again. So effectively you are making your 2nd round and 3rd round picks at the same time. So if you are 1st in the sequence, it could be a rather long wait in between your 1st and 2nd round pick, between your 3rd and 4th round pick. Upside is that you get to make your 2nd and 3rd round picks at the same time. Similarly if you are near or at the end of the drafting sequence, you would have a short wait between your 1st and 2nd round picks but a long wait between your 2nd and 3rd round picks. Each manager takes anywhere from a few minutes to the maximum of 12 hours to make their pick. When the 12 hours limit is exceeded, the draft automatically skips to the next manager in line who can proceed to pick his player. The manager who missed his turn can make his pick when he returns to the caf. Depending on how late he is, the players he wanted could have been taken up by other managers. In practice, from my experience in the previous draft, it usually takes 1-2 days between each round of picks. The sure-fire way to avoid missing your turn in the draft is to check every 12 hours:)

As you are 12th in the drafting sequence, you will be the 12th manager to make his first round pick, but as the second round of draft picks starts with the manager who is last (16th) in the drafting sequence, you will be the 5th manager to pick his player in the second round. Unless some managers miss their turn, that would be the case for subsequent odd and even numbered rounds until all 12 rounds are completed:)

Nah! Not with this range of players to choose from. You'll probably have missed out on the most obvious defenders but every other position is wide open. Don't forget 3-5-2 was far more common back then - opens up a few more options!

Not quite, as Pat Mustard has also pointed out, this is a particularly fertile era of great players, there are at least 20 marquee players to choose from, in fact you are more likely to end up with 2 marquee players than me, given that you get to pick the 16th and 17th player whereas I pick the 3rd and 30th player.
 
I think we should all add Panini card pics of the players, will be a nice touch. Atleast, I'll be doing that with my players.

Not really... Not sure if you have played these drafts before but previous ones it seems as though using United players has a good effect on the votes - and who better than one of the most iconic players in our history?
 
Enigma 87 has slightly under 6 hours left to pick before the draft skips to Cal?
