Reserves vs Diving Pool

We should jizz a lot more in our pants than we are currently when thinking about what a good prospect Welbeck is.

But of course he doesn't have a cool south american-style name so he can't have the same potential as the youngsters from there.

yes because giggs and rooney are very south american names.

welbeck is a great prospect but i save my jizzing for lads who play week in week out at that age like giggs and wazza did.

not saying welbeck can't become as good as giggs or wazza. but currently welbeck is a very good prospect whereas giggs and wazza were from another universe.

Full Time 2-2

PIG - At fault for both goals, poor communication. Collected crosses well though. Being genorous with this 5

Eckersley - Did ok, was probably the most composed defender on the pitch. 7

Fabio - Great 1-2 for his goal, very lively. Shame he had to go off hope its not serious. 7

Evans - Didn't have much to do, but did what he had to pretty well. 6

De Laet - Very quick, Vidic like in the air and composed on the ground. I'm impressed. 7

James - Great ball with the outside of his boot for Welbeck and the more i see of him the more i think there is something about this kid. Hope he gets a run out in the CC next season. My MoM. 8

Possebon - Gives great cover in front of the defense, got forward more in the second half. 6

Drinkwater - Good pace, good ability and was involved in quite a lot of good moves. 7

Welbeck - Delicious finish, held the ball up well and seemed more confident than he's shown in recent first team games. 7

Martin - Decent delivery, but jesus hes a mouthy fecker. A willing runner but i just don't see him getting into the first team any time soon. 6

Brady - Did well in the first half going forward and looked pretty solid as a makeshift leftback. 6

Subs:

Norwood: Didn't have much time but a good freekick caused the keeper some problems. 6

Derbyshire: Looks about 3 foot tall, but was good in the tackle and comfortable on the ball. 6

Forgotten who the other sub was, that's embarrasing.

Our goals were brilliant, theirs were as cheap as a dig at Jay Spearing's face. We were robbed of a few pens too, all in all we should've won comfortably. Shame about Fabio, looked like a pulled hamstring. The pitch was supposedly shit, might have had something to do with it.

It's a rugby pitch, so it wasn't going to be like Highbury used to be. Also Spearing make Kuyt look like Brad Pitt!

This is getting to be very common, the last three reserve games against them we have had a number of clear pens turned down.

Good first half performance. Best I've seen Possebon play since his injury. Martin, Fabio and Welbeck just take the piss everytime they play at this level. I don't get how Rafael is good enough to play at first team level but Fabio isn't? Fabio just looks like the same player, but more composed.

Didn't get what Liverpool were supposed to be about either. I've never seen a reserve team cheat and whine at the ref so much. There were large spells of the game where it was literally the only thing any of their players were doing. Didn't deserve a draw

Good call, Plessis made me feel sick with that dive. What a bunch of preening, whinging nobodies.. They are apparently the future of LFC.

More to do with the fact all our right backs are injured whereas Fabio has Evra blocking his path.

I almost feel sorry for Liverpool fans, since Highway (probably another death by Benitez) left their reserves are poor and nasty.

I hate getting all Little Englander about it but virtually all of the Liverpool XI were from abroad. I think their token English player wasn't even Scouse, I find that amazing at reserve level.

u think rodrigo will make it noods?

Time for my usual query after not paying total attention (and not having an MUTV re-run to fall back on) - anyone happen to notice what numbers the subs were wearing, both those that came on (Norwood, Derbyshire) and those that didn't? Or able to check on Sky+ etc? Cheers.

Any Highlights? Hope Fabio's injury is not serious.. I can seriously see him getting some games soon in the PL especially if Chelsea & Liverpool slip up some more..

Too early to tell. He's a tidy player but at the moment he doesn't impose himself on games enough. Fletcher and even David Jones used to control games in the reserve team almost single handedly, so I'd suspect he's got a way to develop yet before you can say whether he's in with a real chance.

When you look at the likes of Welbeck, Fabio, Rafael, maybe Gibson and Eckersley, and previously players like Rossi, Campbell etc. Even though in most cases they're as yet neither physically developed or reliable enough to play regularly for the first team, in the reserves they stick out so obviously as being a league above everyone else, it's almost silly. Possebon's not at that level, yet. That's not to say that any of the above will make it for United either, most probably wont, but they're good enough to eventually be given a crack at playing at a fairly high level.

Lee Martin is another. He desperately needs to find himself a club where he'll get first team football.
