Register for your chance to see RATM live at Finsbury Park

This is going to be an absolute cock crunching pain in the ass, but I'll give it a shot.

Have to love the idea that everyone who bought the single and got them to number 1 is from London.

Oh I forgot, England = London.

I would have considered it if it was in a more central location. Manchester would have been ideal.

Well, I'm not in Manchester, for one. And two, Manchester would have been a sensible location seeing as though it falls roughly in the middle of Great Britain. Apart from people living up in the Scottish Highlands and NI, nobody is really much more than a 4 drive from it.

I'm not overly fussed, I just think it's stupid that as a way of thanking the UK fans who bought their record, RATM are holding a gig right in the far corner of the country.

They didnt have to do anything, people should be greatfull that they are doing this for FREE, not moaning because of the location.

As if you'd not be moaning if it were taking place in Glasgow.

To be fair, London is the biggest and best city in the UK.

I'm sure you'd be having the same argument if we were in America and RATM decided to not have their gig in Nebraska or Kansas.

Of course I would, and thats because it would make no sense to have it in Glasgow, London is the best place to do it and thats why theyve chosen it.

We've already established that it fecking isn't.

Manchester would be the most sensible location when you consider its location and relate it to the population distribution of the United Kingdom.

Actually if you're going to bring population distribution and density into it then Birmingham is by far and away the best location. London is too far south but Manchester is too far north.

Yeah, its not as if London is the capital of England is it....

Oh wait.

Being the capital is completely irrelevant.

As somebody else has already pointed out, a central location would have made the most sense.

As for London being 'the best city in the UK' that is entirely subjective and there will be plenty of people who disagree.

It should have been done in Birmingham.

I fail to see how Manchester is too far north. If you draw a line halfway down Great Britain, Manchester is south of that line. On a purely population density distribution point of view, Birmingham may make sense, but factor in travel time from the other major UK urban areas (Ed'burgh-Glasgow, NE of England etc) and Manchester to me is the better location.

As you can see, Manchester is a central location for all of the major urban areas of the UK.

Well its not in Birmingham is it. Now stop moaning and enjoy your free gig.

So your a couple of hours away from the gig, which is fine for you.

If it was an the opposite end of the country from you you'd probably not be so ignorant to the view that is's a stupid location.

Not realy, I fully understand how much of a bitch it is to trek up and down the country, it's a bitch for me to get to OT for example but my point is, it is a free gig, we are lucky they even decided to do a gig down here let alone a free one.

Distance traveld should not realy be an issue for an event like this, if you are lucky enough to get a ticket it is bound to be a fantastic experience

Fair enough, I don't want to argue with you, you racist emo, I just hate the whole idea of London being all that matters about the country, it irks me no end.

Tbh, I think the venue itself must have been a big deciding factor in this, I mean they need the biggest possible place they can get, i'm not sure how big Finsbury Park is but I have heard is bloody mahoosive.

Well, yeh, but population density is important. It's more important than just geographical location, because you've got to factor in the number of people and therefore the ease of travel as a whole. The south of the UK has far more people than the north, and whilst London does not itself locate centrally in that regard, Birmingham is the point at which, density-wise, the UK finds its middle.

If you look at that map you posted, above Manchester it's almost entirely devoid of significant population pockets bar Glasgow and the North-West. Birmingham puts itself more centrally to more people.

Bear in mind, too, that transport-wise many people will find it easier to get to London than Manchester, Liverpool or Birmingham. I don't mean distance or money-wise, but just with the sheer infrastructure. London has over a dozen major train stations; Birmingham has three, I think Manchester also has three. London also has one of the best undergound systems in the world. If you're going to have lots and lots of people descending on a city for the day from all over the country, then London is the best equipped to deal with it.

I dont think the gig will actually be that big judging from past events there - probably about 40,000 capacity - although I cant see any info about how many tickets there will be anywhere.

Would have been good if they had done a mega gig like 150,000 people at Knebworth or something

Don't know how i missed this thread, but anyway, I need a ticket. The entry seems like such a hassle though. A passport photo? ffs.

O and Nick, London is all that matter's in Britain. The North is just full of pikeys, pies and Brad. Fact.

It's really not. There are plenty who will disagree, but they're morons.

Would you like to discuss tourism figures?

Just imagine how many people are going to be on their computers at 9:00AM tomorrow morning and how stressed most, if not all are going to get

I'll probably end up having a nervous breakdown, whether i get tickets or not.

Whats the best way of doing this? Im going be on two PC's at the same time. Getting a ticket for my mate, so its going to be even more challenging and stressful.
