He is still our most composed and best CB though imo. His form isnt crap, and as alot more to offer. Wouldnt get rid of him for the world currently.

Agree with the bolded, but realistically I think we can replace Rio. Granted it will be a downgrade, but getting Modric into our midfield would be a big enough upgrade to justify the cost.
Would also leave us with plenty of funds for Schweinsteiger!
You are only as strong as your defence though. Going forward for next season losing Rio would be a big enough loss. Especially with a new keeper possibly coming in, having 2 well respected and top centrebacks is a huge plus. Smalling and the possible signing of Jones are young and great prospects, but ultimately are still learning their trade.

Wouldn't sell him, or trade him for any of their players -including Bale and Modric. How people have second thoughts about this is worrying.
Not only is his pairing with Vidic invaluable, he's also a great leader for our youngsters. I'd argue much of Rafael's defensive progress for example, is down to having Rio by his side.
