So what is your take on Spoofy getting absolutely nothing correct and trying to steal 5 month old information and claiming it as proof he is ITK?
He said there would be good news this week, according to Castles (I know) AWB is a done deal. I think he got James right and I think he also nailed Felix to Atletico. Given what I said about negotiations, I think that's a relatively good record.
I used to have a job in spread betting and had access to information. Back around the summer where we signed Carrick I had access to club insiders and knew that we had done that deal a couple of months before it was announced. I also PM'ed a few long time posters on here (cant remember who) about our interest in Mauro Silva before it broke in the media.
Point I'm making is that there are people about - quite a lot actually - who get inside info on all clubs. They do exist and I still know a few but they wouldn't tell me anything now because I'm out of the game.
You can always spot the bluffers because they never come up with a new name. Anyone can write 'updates' on the popular names. If you find someone who gives you a name that's nowhere on the social media radar then you might have someone worth listening to. I can guarantee you that United are talking to clubs about a heap of players nobody is talking about

He consistently maintained there was no possibility of a new contract for Mata, which wouldn't be the case if there were any negotiations ongoing. Here are some quotes of his on the subject:
"Mata is going. No contract is on offer and he isn't asking for one."
"I'm in complete opposition to Stone on the Mata contract. I've been pretty vehemently told we're not giving him one."
And after the United website published the fact that we were talking with Mata over a new contract:
"The offer that did go in is for a paycut, and that pretty much killed it. They still don't expect to see him next season."
"we are giving Mata one more year."
He has called the whole situation completely wrong all summer the same as with multiple other stories.
Maybe I didn't quite analyse that situation closely enough, but as far as I'm aware, DB didn't expose him. He exposed the verification system, but even then, the mods put a disclaimer on DB's info, saying it seemed fishy.
I don't think there is much point in this discussion continuing. If De Ligt doesn't end up at United, I will be 100% agreement with you.
Have a proper read through of what the guy did.
He even wrote a massive section utterly disproving Spoofex, and how he'd caught him doing exactly what a lot of people suspected he was doing all along.
I've just gone over the whole thing again. In the update from Spoofex, that he references, Spoofex is still saying that De Ligt is probably Barca bound. He mentions a medical on Wednesday (today), says it's likely either Bruno or a youth player, and has since said it was supposed to be Rabiot. For me, DB is clearly a psycho, and whilst he made shit of their verification process, he really hasn't nailed Spoofex at all.
All the ITK's have now doubled down on De Ligt, if he doesn't come in now, I won't look at another post from any of them. Currently though, I see them in the same way I see at 99% of journalists, which is believe nothing until it's confirmed officially.
Spoofex said Rabiot was coming our way, then read the updates in the press suggesting he's going elsewhere and backed off it.
He's repeatedly made false statements such as Mata wouldn't be offered a contract.
His updates on De Ligt have been like his updates on every other player. Just recycling whatever the latest rumours are and constantly changing his position in response to said rumours. For example here are some of his updates on De Ligt in chronological order.
1. "We're not getting De Ligt." (At this point all the rumours are that he is joining Barcelona).
2. "we have made an offer to Ajax that was accepted formally. The contract terms have been agreed upon". (This is because Fred, a known bullshitter with a terrible track record who had previously been banned from r/reddevils for being a failed ITK, said De Ligt was a done deal).
3. "De Ligt is going to Barca, they found out this morning." (This is after everyone pointed out that Fred had a terrible track record and the rumours that De Ligt was joining Barcelona were still present).
4. De Ligt to United is a done deal. (This is because D. B. Cooper tricked him and the rest of the reddit ITKs with his fake story).
He does this with almost every player we are linked with or might be selling. Here are some more examples. In every case he is reversing his position based on whatever the latest rumours were.
De Gea:
1. De Gea is going this summer. PSG offer is expected any day now.
2. De Gea - Probably going to run his deal down.
Lukaku:
1. Lukaku is staying.
2. Lukaku is almost certainly going.
Fernandes:
1. We're not in for Bruno Fernandes.
2. Bruno Fernandes is expected to join.
Sancho.
1. Sancho deal is dead.
2. Sancho deal could be back on.
3. Sancho is now back to a "dead deal".
Rabiot.
1. Rabiot has seemingly accepted the contract offer from United + Rabiot is having his medical on Wednesday (today).
2. Rabiot is a no to United.
Now it could be possible, but extremely unlikely, that Spoofex really does have high level sources at United who provide him with very regular updates on our transfer policy and contract negotiations. In which case the reason he constantly has to contradict and backtrack on his stories is because the situation itself is in a state of flux and United are actually changing their minds on which players to target and which to sell on a week by week basis. However he also regularly says things that are not just proven wrong at a later date but are simply impossible to have ever been true. The Mata contract we have been discussing is a good example of this. Nobody who claims to know as much detail about United's operations as he does would have been so completely wrong about the contract negotiations of a high profile player. He has made similar errors in the past. For example in one of his first updates he claimed that Darmian and Pereira were leaving for free this summer, despite both of them being under contract. Or when he tried to claim that Smalling, Jones and Young were given new contracts as per an agreement between Solskjaer and Woodward when Solskjaer became permanent manager. Which is impossible as Jones and Young signed new deals long before then and Smalling signed his before Solskjaer was even appointed to the interim role.
Trust me when I say that I'm barely scratching the surface here. The guy has written thousands upon thousands of words of United transfer fan fiction in the last few weeks. It would take hours to go through and unpack it and find everything wrong, everything that makes no sense. The above is just a few things that have stuck in my mind that I was quickly able to verify by searching his history. I actually think this will be my last post in this thread because I don't have anything more to say on the subject of reddit ITKs. If people want to believe them I just don't care anymore, I might as well be on youtube comments trying to persuade people that the world isn't flat.

In sales, until you close, you never know. I suspect those deals are probably similar. Until the player signs, you just don't know, and you just try your best. Maybe there are some insiders who have info to share, maybe they're only true at some point in time because the context changes, I get all of that.
I do see exactly where you're coming from, and I appreciate the thought out post in reply. It does seem like you be been following him longer than I have, which is around the end of May or start of June, so you have a bit more to go on.
De Ligt's destination makes a difference because the media is not reporting it, so if his destination is United, either it's a wild guess (unlikely) or there is a source(s).
Yep, I've been in sales long enough to know that you can fully expect and rely on a big sale to hit your monthly target, which the customer has promised you will happen on a certain day at a certain time, only for it to be delayed or fall through completely and leave you looking like a moron.

To any ITK's defence things in football operate really really quickly. I remember SAF saying at our supporters club that the club had secured Gazza. He was due to be signed once the gaffer returned to the UK on Monday. We all know what happened afterwards. We had a similar experience with Alan Shearer.

Yh you re right, I tend to read bits and pieces from random pages when catching up on a thread.
In all honesty, I'm not on reddit, but I get why people are. The idea of ITKs might sound ridiculous, but in every transfer, dozens of people are aware of some of what is going on, and it s not in the realms of impossibility that some like the internet gratification of being adored by hundreds, so they might throw the occasional bit of info but without the level of detail of someone like spoofex.
I actually think the reddit system, despite it s flaws, will prove to be quite useful. If a real statistical based approach is implemented by the moderators, "ITKs" with high percentage of correct calls for a certain number of seasons and more importantly capable moderators who keep an eye on things will be able to weed out low percentage "ITKs".
It's seems like this Simon wtvr ( based on this thread) is connected in some way.
In any case, just from online blogs I know a very, very reliable Liverpool poster, and 2 50/50 sources on Chelsea and United. And by 50/50 I mean either ridiculously lucky for about 6 seasons now or unreliable/inconsistent info.
All in all, I quite like the idea of the reddit itk section and I think it holds serious potential but I would not yet wander there, until the opinions on here shift towards it, which will show that relatively intelligent and well read football fans ( as most on this site are when compared to reddit, hence I joined here to practice my english) are starting to see actual results not just potential
