Anyone adding these up so we get a democratic definitive list? Sample Base big enough now

1. Best
2. Ronaldo
3. Charlton
4. Law
5. Cantona
6. Robson
7. Duncan Edwards
8. Schmeichel
9. Scholes
10. Giggs

Based on players I've seen in my lifetime:

1. Cristiano Ronaldo
2. Ryan Giggs
3. Wayne Rooney
4. Paul Scholes
5. Nemanja Vidic
6. David Beckham
7. Rio Ferdinand
8. Roy Keane
9. Dwight Yorke
10. Ruud van Nistelrooy

I've probably forgotten someone really obvious. I've tried to balance ability, personality and connection to United, but I've been a bit harsh on goalkeepers.

Edit: oh dear! Ignore my entry then, it probably won't impact anything!

1. Best
2. Charlton
3. Giggs
4. Scholes
5. Ronaldo
6. Schmeichel
7. Ferdinand
8. Law
9. Cantona
10. Beckham

I've never really understood Law's standing among United fans. He was clearly an outstanding player - one of just three United players to feature in the top 5 of the Ballon d'Or in consecutive seasons. Even Best couldn't manage that.

I agree. I had Denis at number 3 all time.

I'd base this on performances (stand out - game changing), consistency with performances etc (not just nice looking, impressive stats). Also based on my fondness towards certain players for sure.

Since I've started watching ('97):
  1. Scholes
  2. Keane
  3. Ronaldo
  4. Schmeichel
  5. Beckham
  6. Van Nistelrooy
  7. Dave
  8. Stam
  9. Andy Cole
  10. Giggs
Notable exclusions I guess: Rooney (Cole and Ruud were better strikers and much more consistent with performances regardless of his total goals scored), Rio & Vidic (great defenders but neither as good as Stam at his best and really they needed each other in my view) and of course Ole (just doesn't make the top 10). I'm sure there's others (Irwin, Pat etc) but anyway, that's what 5 minutes of thought has given me.
