Want Pochetino.

It's going to be Mourinho, happy either way.

That's true. But that Chelsea team wasn't all that great and I guess it took him a season to get his ideas across.

I still remember his first Chelsea-stint, that team he had were scary, they were fantastic. If he gets anything near that here, then I'll be over the moon.
I think our team is worse than that Chelsea team from his second Chelsea stint, I may be wrong though.
The team definitely wasn't that bad that every manager would've approached the season defensively, that's my point, same with our current team, he only goes attacking if he has the best squad, which shouldn't be the case IMO.

Mourinho. He's comfortably the best manager on the list and probably the most Ferguson like of them all.

I would still be happy with Poch, Blanc or Simeone.

So everyone is certain that van Gaal will leave I take it? Don't quote me, I've picked Mou :P

If you took the ex-United players, Jose and Rafa from that list you have a list of suitable candidates in character, style of football and experience. Pochettino's and Tuchel would probably drop off that list as it may be more of a gamble that the board wouldn't want to take.

I don't disagree with that, IMO it's hard to judge just how much work the current teams. Some of the players are not good enough, but I'm not sure about the others, is it the manager misusing them? Either way, Jose should have a summer to sort it out and get the team close to what he likes.

Conte, Simeone or Blanc are my top 3 candidates.

Conte did magnificent work with Juventus, bought some great players like Pogba, Vidal, was responsible for the renaissance of Pirlo and in general just awakened Juve again by winning some trophies (and all with very limited financial resources) and that is exactly the sort of stuff Manchester United needs to go through aswell, a renaissance.

Simeone did a similar job at Atlético Madrid.

Blanc has been great at Bordeaux and he has been great now at PSG aswell, they have definitley improved every year as a team. He averages a winning percentage of 70 over his career aswell, which is just fantastic. You can see how good he was with the impact his departure has had on the french national team. If there was ever an ex player that would qualify to be our manager, it is sure this guy and not Giggs.

If none of those 3 are possible, the most evident choice is Mourinho.

Those two names should probably be disqualified from the polls.

Were they making fun of the insane meltdowns on here ?
They were talking about the poll for Mourinho or Giggs as next manager and how much in favour in Mourinho we were over Giggs.

Pretty sure someone who's a mod on here was on the show as well or at the very least someone from the site.

There's a link to it in the post match thread.

Oh wow, that is impressive. It's good to see that thread get some attention

Thanks, I'll listen to it.

You can see how good he was with the impact his departure has had on the french national team.

Deschamps has a 57% win ratio while Blanc had 59% but Deschamps managed 16 more games.

Votes votes from known non United fans should be removed IMO.

the Jose love in here is making me sick - Im feeling very let down by my fellow Caftards !

Id take Poch, Blanc, Conte or Simeone ahead of him

The other three I see the arguments for, but why Simeone over Mou? Similar style imo, and while Simeone has succeeded with a lesser budget than Mourinho's usually had, Mourinho's also got a longer, more consistent track record. We don't exactly have budget constraints and I can see Simeone going the way of Klopp in a few years time.

Would love it if we can create a thread where posters list top 5 or top 10 managers and the results are compiled and analyzed (I can volunteer to do that bit). It will give us more insight than a poll with everyone's favourite choice only.

Anyway, voted Mourinho here. If we can't get him, my second choice would be one of Allegri/Conte/Blanc.

My list would be
Pochettino/ Simeone
Mourinho
Allegri
Blanc
That's it. Should be one of those five.

Not sure how Pochettino is ahead of Simeone...

Mostly because I dont like Jose's character - his antics at Real were an embarrasment IMO and this season at Chelsea as well his behaviour reflected badly on the club

Plus he has a poor record with youth and promoting from within - I like the work that Pochettino in particular is doing in that regard

His CV of success is pretty much unrivaled but its not just about that

Would like Hughes, but............no chance.
Mourinho has been chosen aleady I think.

Hopefully, that is only in the same way that I would have liked Bruce. I had visions of him winning the Europa league with Birmingham, then Wigan, then Sunderland and proving his credentials as a United manager and taking over where SAF had left off. Not to be, although I believe he would have made a far better fist of it than that cnut Moyes, as would, tbf, Hughes. Although, that isn't saying much.

Not the biggest fan of jose either. Think thete are much better fits for us, but jose might be the only one available.

It's precisely because Jose mightn't be a good fit that I think he might be a good fit, if you see what I mean?

I'd rather someone come in with fresh ideas, a new approach and have a reinvigorating effect rather than looking for someone who'd comfortably fit in with the existing cosy set-up. One of the principle tenants of Ferguson's management was reinvention and never standing still ;never being afraid to shake things up an being terrified of complacency. It's why I'm so anti-Giggs and why I find the whole 'he knows how to get the sticky barrier in the car park up and knows all the names of the canteen staff' argument of familiarity so unappealing.

Voted Mourinho; we're in an awful state and he's best placed to get us out of it. I certainly wouldn't complain if Conte or Simeone were appointed though. Ditto Blanc & Pochettino. I'd act like a spoilt child and throw my toys out the pram in a massive hissy fit if Giggs, Neville or FSW got the job, certainly the three worst options on the board.

I dont mean that a good fit should fit right in the current set up. I agree we need somebody that can bring requirred change. I just dont think jose is the best suited one to do that at united.

Jose is too confrontational for me and his focus is too much on hiself. I think he has a bit of a toxic attitude.

1. Guardiola or Ancelotti would have been first choice for me.
2. Simeone
3. Conte
4. Mourinho
5. Emery

In that order for me.
