Point with GoT is the final season is so bad and undermines the rest of the show to such an extent, the fact the first few seasons were so good only makes it a bigger car crash.

Not like it’s unique in that of course. Lost, Battlestar Galactica, Dexter not as bad as GoT but all the same deal.

That's one way of looking at it but another way is that you can appreciate the journey without loving the destination.

I still remember Oberyn vs. The Mountain. Rarely has a show made me legit pause and go for a cigarette due to the shock factor.

Also, the stuff with Geoffrey and Sansa was stressful, he was a great villain. Plus the Theon stuff etc... A few shows had this many great storylines and a poor ending shouldn't undermine all of that.

But yes, it does ruin the image of the show when comparing it overall to other shows but only a rare few maintain the quality over a long stretch.

It was just such a sharp drop in quality.
