Pogba isn't even better than Dybala or Bonucci for Juve. Lewa, Bale, Neymar and Lahm are incredible but Dybala was outstanding this season and I feel he's under-appreciated.

EDIT: Crap, just saw the part about 'based on this year' - Pirlo off the list then :(

A few of you have said we should be doing this by positions. That is certainly something I thought of, but the idea of doing this eleven times and sorting out all the positions was worrying me.

I want to work on my writing and I like stuff like this, so I plan on running at least a few of these a year. Now we have done Redcafe's top Manchester United players, I thought I would do top players around at the moment. I know it's a bit arbitrary, but it's nothing serious and I thought it'd be quite interesting to see.

After this one, I might split it down even further. There's quite a few things you could do using this top ten format. I'd have to ask the forum after this for how to do it.

Maybe you could have done midfield, defence and offence?

it doesn't have to be like that.

Make it RedCafe's best 11 and put a 4-2-3-1 which is todays most common formation.

Then just sort them by position.

Then you have the issue where some people might put say Martial as a left winger and others might put him as a striker. Where would Suarez go? Players akin to him. I did think of that.

Then you'll have Martial on best wingers and strikers list, not bad considering he can play there. I think it's more accurate, just as a suggestion.

Messi
Suárez
Cristiano
Neymar
Busquets
Iniesta
Lewandowski
De Bruyne
Modrić
Griezmann

I only really ordered the top 4, after that just picked 6 players.

1. Messi
2. Suarez
3. Neymar
4. De Gea
5. Neuer
6. Ronaldo
7. Müller
8. Ramos
9. Modric
10. Lewandowski

Its very hard. But in no order.

1.Messi
2.Suarez
3.Ronaldo
4.Neymar
5.Busquets
6.Higuain
7.Ibrahimovic
8.Godin
9.Iniesta
10.De Gea

1. Messi
2. Suarez
3. Ronaldo
4. Neymar
5. Ibrahimovic
6. Iniesta
7. Busquets
8. Modric
9. Lewandowski
10. Griezmann

1. Ronaldo
2. Messi
3. Suarez
4. Neymar
5. Ibrahimovic
6. Ramos
7. Bale
8. Marcelo
9. Griezmann
10. De Gea

In no particular order-

Griezmann
Suarez
Koke
Messi
Neymar
Busquets
Muller
Ronaldo
Godin
DDG

1. Messi
2. Ronaldo
3. Suarez
4. Neymar
5. Muller
6. Neuer
7. Busquets
8. Aguero
9. Bale
10. Iniesta

The top 4 is the easiest to order. Not even sure if I agree with the rest of the ranks myself.

If focusing purely on ability and not form then I'd have to try and find a place for Fabregas. Still one of the very best midfielder's in the world, imo. In saying that, if focusing on form then Suarez should probably be #1 and DDG instead of Neuer so it's a bit of a clusterfeck to rank.

1. Messi
2. Suarez
3. Ronaldo
4. Neymar
5. Iniesta
6. Bale
7. Ramos
8. Modric
9. Ibrahimovic
10. Griezmann

1. Messi
2. Suarez
3. Ronaldo
4. Neymar
5. Ibrahimovic
6. Thiago Silva
7. Higuain
8. Dybala
9. Iniesta
10. Ozil

1. Messi
2. Ronaldo
3. Neymar
4. Bale
5. Ronaldo
6. De Gea
7. Ibrahimovic
8. Martial
9. Suarez
10.Aguero

Everybody is sleeping on martial. He is currently one of the best players in the world. I would have placed him higher but I don't want to replies.:)

1. Ronaldo
2. Messi
3. De Gea
4. Suarez
5. Bale
6. Lewandowski
7. Aguero
8. Tiago Silva
9. Varane
10. Muller

It's hard to take anyone seriously who's not putting Messi into the no. 1 slot.
Also, the attacking player bias is strong. Probably because it's so much easier to just look at goal stats instead of watching many, many games to come to an informed conclusion. There is little room for those super important players that make a team tick (Koke, Lahm, Busquets). We should have a top 10 list of enablers - far more interesting than rehashing the same show pony names year in, year out.

Have you posted your list?

Basing this on what I think is current ability - really didn't watch other leagues so no idea how they did:

  1. Messi
  2. Ronaldo
  3. Suarez
  4. Neymar
  5. Ibrahimovic
  6. Bale
  7. Aguero
  8. Lahm
  9. Griezmann
  10. De Gea
Dave gets in because of bias.

@Twigginater - maybe do a 2015/16 best premier league team next or something? Or best current players once the transfer window is over? I'm guessing it's the league most of us focus on.
