Difficult, since footballers having other positions and are not comparable. Better were to ask for a top 10 in each position.
 
I don't quite get this. Do the people who have Suarez over Messi actually think the former has developed into a player who is, all things considered better, (because Messi, presumably, has deteriorated significantly)? Or are they simply saying that Suarez is in better nick at the moment, having had a better season, etc.?

"Best right now" is ambiguous. It's not a very interesting question if it means "form" more than anything.

Read my introduction in my post. For me it's the current form. Usually there is no way to get in front of Messi. But we have to consider the position also. Can't compare Messi to DDG imo. That's why the Ballon d'Or ist nonsense in my eyes. What do you think? ;)

Suarez IMO had a better season than Messi and his current form is better. Considering that's the highest level surely he's "best right now". Messi is the best overall player but injuries and also form prevented him to reach his usual heights.

Well it depends what you base it on. If we solely go by stats then Ronaldo is top 3, but on actual performances and ability for next season which was what the OP stated, then I fail to see what's so wrong about it? He has correctly been criticized for his performances this season especially in the big games.

I'd argue putting Modric fourth and Bale 7th above some of those players more strange personally.

As for the main part, I repeat that if people take it as "form", it's a bit pointless as a survey.

Fair enough with your Ronaldo point.

I love Modric though, in my opinion he's the best midfielder in the world. Certainly better than the likes of Vidal, Pogba, De Bruyne and even Iniesta who are beating him in these lists.
 
If this has any merit it should be done by positions as other mentioned. Otherwise it's moot.

Sure, if you take it that way. But that's what I'm getting at. If it's form in one way or another, there's not much point in surveying people's opinions. Form is temporary, as they say.

If someone had been of the opinion that Suarez had overtaken Messi (due to a development on both sides) as a player, I'd find that very interesting. That many think Suarez has had a better season, on the other hand, is much less interesting.
