Gaming Red Dead Redemption 2 (PC, PS4, Xbox One, Stadia)

Finally finished it, at a completion of 81%, guess there's nothing more to do than hunting the legendary animals, I did one of them.

What happened to Dutch btw ? Did he kill Micah and left just like that ? I didn't play the first game, also why didn't he kill John too as it looked to me the most reasonable outcome for him is to kill both like when he left Micah and Arthur and didn't support any.

Dutch ends up running for a number of years. He ends up in the mountains North of Tall Trees where he builds a compound with what remains of his gang (both Bill and Javier are killed by John Marston earlier in RDR). In RDR he attempts to rob town hall in Blackwater and is tracked down by John where John chases him to a cliff edge where he ultimately commits suicide. If you remember the mission in game where Arthur and Dutch are cornered by the Army and jump off the ledge, he says the same dialogue before he commits suicide (about not fighting gravity etc).

In the first game, its the first time you hear Dutch talking about "I have a plan" which is pretty neat in retrospect... (also John refers to this and says "You always have a plan Dutch".

They've actually done a really good job integrating the first game with the second, although for me, they should have elaborated on Bill and Javier in this and they just didn't. They're virtually nothing characters in both games apart from being glorified bounties for the protaganist. Needed better back stories. Bill comes across as easy to hate, but Javier seems normal in this game.

Damm you were quick. When you started I was at 40%. Now I'm at 50% and you're done.

I feel like I need to play the first game now. Hopefully they remaster it or something.

My white arabian died :( fecking trains! Does another white arabian spawn or is it gone forever?
Just camp and go back up to where you caught it the first time and it’ll be there or use the horse glitch unless they have patched that.

Finally found all the rock carvings so might start to do some of the missions again been super busy the last few weeks so I’ve barely played and am still early in chapter 6. Those rock carvings though, I had to look up 3 as I just couldn’t wonder around aimlessly any more.

I honestly can't get enough of this music since I finished the game. Have been playing it the whole day now.

Apparently not possible and they'd have to make the whole game again. Part of me wonders if this is why there's New Austin with not much in it, and there's some buildings in Mexico if you glitch there. Would be great if it was completely done with the increase in quality of rdr2.
More likely it's just for online dlc though.

Seem to have been stuck on 65.something% for ages now. I do polish off every white side mission that shows up though. Got given
Buell yesterday after Hamish inevitably bit the dust.
. Never gonna use him...

Chapter V has been shit. I don't know what they were thinking. I'm just going through the emotions for the last few hours.

Did you think so? It wasn't very long so didn't bother me at all. I think I smashed through it in a few hours actually. No stranger missions to distract you either.

I guess the next question truly is... is Arthur Morgan one of the greatest protagonists in video game history?

I've played alot of video games but ive never felt emotionally attached to a character as much as I did this bloke... probably down to between Solid Snake/Big Boss and this guy.

No one else comes close in my opinion.

Damn just started the Epilogue.
Why did they have to kill Arthur Morgan :(. It feels weird to play with John Marston even though I loved him in RDR.

Apparently they had to cut a lot of content to release it in time, it makes sense that a lot of it was chapter 5 content. There's a really low number of missions compared to the other chapters.

Shame. I guess I'll end up watching it on Youtube to just know the rest ot story. Everyone are saying it turned out even more miserable with more deaths.

There's not argument for it, he's in top 5 characters in video games I have ever seen. I think the likes of Max Payne, Ezio and Joel are up there too.

I can't believe how Rockstar made such memorable characters. I haven't been invested emotinally in such group of people in a game as much as I did with Dutch's gang. All are very interesting and you can't help but love them all. Will never forget any of their personalities.

Arthur is up there as one of the most memorable protagonists ever for sure. Most of the supporting cast are brilliant as well. The story itself has its issues but Rockstar did an outstanding job on the characters. I can only think of Joel and Ellie that are of the same standard.

Arthur is brilliant isn't he. I'm only on Chapter 4 so interested in seeing how the game plays out for him.

Up there with Snake, Shepard, Geralt, Joel/Ellie, Cloud, Nathan Drake, and, of course, John Marsten.

It’s a shame if you can’t. One of the great endings in video game history.

Most of the story has been spoiled to me since I searched a lot on google about the fate of the other gang members, but still wanted to know the full story. :( Shame.

Didn't have a PS3 at this time and was exclusively playing on PC.

kill my horse, I had figured out the story continues with someone else most likely John but was hoping he’d get all my cool stuff like horses, weapons and so on as I had some cool shooters and even one you’re only supposed to be able to get in the epilogue but I managed to get it early and now I’m guessing it’s gone.

Seemed like they tried to add more weight to the game than usual, and surely Arthur losing his horse was to add to that, as well John not getting everything? Makes it seem something bigger has happened.

Loved John Marsten. His naivity/simplicity and complete non 'hero-ness' was unique IMO. So far I like Arthur but he's much more your typical around the edges tough bloke you'd typically expect from this era and from a gang like this.

Micah must pay for the death of Secretariat, it’s all his fault and Marsidon better cross paths with that prick soon. Revenge for Black Lung.

Got this for the young fella for christmas, seems interesting story wise but the gameplay is clunky as hell. Have to say I'm finding it so slow, I know I'm stuck in snow but still. Intro feels like a chore.

Depends what you like really, I found the intro fantastic but I love snow environments and it looks incredible. It opens up completely when you get down from the mountains.

The story and setting is fantastic, the controls are just so clunky and slow to react imho. Its like the gameplay is still GTA5 with fancy cowboy skins and prettier graphics. It's not terrible but after playing games like Spiderman, Horizon ZD, God of War that are so fluid and smooth, mechanically this game feels dated to me. I'll still play it through and more than likely love it, just I didn't expect it to feel so sluggish.

Characters so far are great.

I read those complaints but I didn't really mind the controls at all, the level of realism they're going for wouldn't allow for razor sharp controls and it would just feel off to me if Arthur didn't have a real weightiness to how he moved and reacted to situations. I probably find it hard to be objective about this game because for me it's the best one I've ever played and I just love everything about it.

I like the game and I liked GTA V, but I also agree with most of the points this guy made:

Just finished the prologue and have come in at 90% exactly. There are still things I know that have to be completed but I’m just not sure I have the willingness to go do them, kinda disappointed with the prologue.

it’s quite compact once you hit Blackwater. I had already explored most of the area with Arthur and didn’t really feel the need with John to just head out and explore as I thought there would be more story stuff there to drag me around the area but other than Blackwater and Tall Trees you don’t go anywhere bar the farm. Just seems like a wasted opportunity for more intresting stuff. Sucks as well as I only really made 500 bucks and a good horse is roughly 1k and at this point I couldn’t be arsed fishing or hunting to raise money.

Disappointed that the Micah death is pretty much pre determined how it happens because I wanted that fecker to die a slow death but I suppose one good thing is that after Dutch shot him I blew a hole in his head and even though I could see his brains he was still able to walk about a bit before collapsing.

Probably should have done some more prologue adventuring.

I finally completed the whole thing yesterday. Like others I'm not sure I still want to go on to complete some stuff, but at the same time I don't really want to leave the world behind either.

The epilogues were faaaaaaaar too long. I was already getting exhausted from the story by Chapter 6 so to have another half dozen hours or so of epilogues after that is just too much.

As for the post-game, I want my Arthur back! Rockstar made that same mistake in RDR 1, giving us Jack in the post-game. I just wasn't interested in playing on as him. I like John, especially having played the first game, but this was still Arthur's story for me. I would've preferred if they dropped you back in Chapter 2 or 3 as a healthy Arthur, with the camp fully staffed, all of your end-game money and equipment carried over and just all story missions disabled. It wouldn't have made any sense but it would be a lot more fun.

I explored the New Austin map for fun and nostalgia but it does seem pretty dead. It's weird how they went through the trouble of creating a weather pattern, harvestable plants and even animal species specific to that region, but you never go there during the entire game except for a minor epilogue detour. All for online?

Yeah I hated it. It was a complete drag which I ensured rather than enjoyed. It seemed to just be added in like a token change up. I didn't like the whole 'Arthur' kidnapping by the O'Driscolls either. Both really Far Cry type alt- phases which did nothing but bother me as a gamer. But the kidnapping thing was short so it (thankfully) wasn't as impactful.

The kidnapping thing was excellent. The fact that Dutch wasn't doing jack shit about it pissed me off. It clearly added to the story line.

Anyone else get $1000 into their online bank account? I already got 15 gold bars last week, but my dollars have just also been boosted.

That mission left me a bit confused, as they didn’t really give any indication as to how much time had elapsed. I mean surely Dutch would have noticed Arthur went missing?
