Red Cafe

Point out one "quality" post you have made on these forums......

Chop chop!
Are you drunk?

We had the Leeds Mod, the Yank Mod, and the Fish Mod. Meet the Schizo Mod.

One minute nice as can be. The next minute, he's had a funny turn.

PS. feck off.

And you go along with this shite?

You know feck all!

"Theatre of Dreams"?

Hypersky was its name, and it wasn't a breakaway forum, it was a place to try and get away from people like you lot.

Im talking about the current ToD forum, which I am a member of.

I registered on the caf a little before the whole "civil war" leading to a "break away forum", etc began to happen.

All I have to say is that I did enjoy reading posts of some posters who don't post in here anymore. Some of them may have been right cretins but on the whole, and only IMHO, the caf was a better place before this break away or whatever. And I sincerely hope that it can get back to that.

That said, threads stared here slating the caf and the mods, by folks from the "other place" are highly stupid, and totally pointless.

If you don't like the caf, you've more than made your point by starting another forum and fecking off to it, have'nt you. So what is coming on here on stupid WUs and whinging about the caf going to achieve????

:D

Thank you.

Redcafe mods arn't allowed, for some reason

Probably because everyone just bickered with them on the last place, then you went mad and gave it a grass backround, among other things.

I reckon they Redcafe mods should be allowed, for what it's worth. I'm not in any position to speak on the behalf of others however

I thought I behaved quite well on Breakaway forum No. 2 - RDR.

Veng said:
2. There have always been "break away" forums, this is hardly a first. The girls have the Theatre of Dreams forum, for instance.

Theatre of Dreams was never for "the girls".

It was originally set up as a refuge for United supporters only, and was by invitation.

Then it was opened up to everyone, but with a United only board.

When it was unable to be hosted on the original server, we set up a proboards one, intended to be the same, more or less, as the one we'd always had. I put a board on there just for the girls, but there aren't many girls who are members, and it was only a very small part of it.

Cheers for the clarification Livvie, maybe its just a "vibe" thing then :)

Didnt realise ToD was "united only", any reason for that? If its working well, have a Fans only forum on here?

Also, we do our best to frown on the WUMs on RR, posts like RapidReds are great until you get to the last paragraph. The people that come on here and whinge are not the ones that set up that other forum, they are just members. Like they are on here.

The ranting has to stop from both "sides" (although I hate using that phrase) and should not, imho, be applauded by mods.

But I may be alone in that thought, in both camps :D

It's all about perception.

I've never had a problem with there being a breakaway site - if people don't like it here, there's no point in them staying imo.

A lot of the problems arose because people didn't approve of "censorship". But a lot of Red Cafe's popularity is because it's not a free for all, and not another Red Issue. So we attempt to maintain certain standards - like cutting down on the hypocracy of objecting to Munich comments whilst actively encouraging those on Heysel, Hillsborough etc. The sensible thing to do seemed to be to stop all of them. Apart from that, people are generally free to abuse Liverpool fans as much as they like - all we asked was that there shouldn't be snide comments relating to football tragedies.

Then the sexist issue cropped up, and was again blown out of all proportion. There is a difference between normal gender banter, and some of the bullying that started. A few of the more vociferous posters started making comments which implied that words like bint were banned and amidst all the confusion, it did become hard for people to actually understand what was considered out of order and what wasn't.

There isn't actually that much censorship on RC, but it just seems that way because of all the aggravation that has erupted, and as they say, the story has kind of grown in the telling.

Hillsborough/Munich and Heysel are two completely different things. There was never any hypocracy.

Yes I know.

I shouldn't have included Heysel.

The point about Heysel was that people never differentiated between those involved and the majority of those who live in Liverpool, tarring everyone with the same brush. Heysel could have happened to any club - we weren't all law abiding, innocent fans at the time either. Personally I find it offensive if someone lumps me in with people whose behaviour might overstep the bounds of what's acceptable, so it would be hypocritical to let it happen to others.

But it's a bit sad if people run off having a hissy fit because they're asked not to call someone a murderer.

This is a lazy statement and quite frankly a load of bollocks.

Neither do over-bearing, self-righteous moderators.

Why do you think that?

And can you explain why it is you are still here if you think the place is run so badly?

The Hairdryer said:

But over-bearing, self-righteous posters are OK?

I think it's self-righteous to not accept that what happened at Heysel could have happened to any club.

It's funny really....I get more Reported Posts from the people who complain about the mods than from anyone else. Arrogance beyond belief really, to think that their complaints should be answered, whilst we ignore any complaints that they don't agree with.

Marching said:

Those Juventus supporters were not hooligans or ultras, they were casual supporters unfamiliar with terrace culture. Liverpool Hooligans were notorius for carrying out attacks on these types of fans whilst a lot of other groups of supporters had unwritten rules.

Because it's still better than Red Issue or Talking Reds.

You remind of this person I know who hit a cyclist with his car after he fell asleep at the wheel. This was in the morning after a huge night out and about 2 hours sleep. Reflecting on it later he said to me "It could have happened to anyone". Whilst I agreed with him to help make him feel better, we all know it happened because he was irresponsible and chose to drive when he shouldn't have.

I can't speak for those people. Sorry.

You are actively encouraging anti-RR sentiment, which will cause more anti-Caf sentiment.

I'd say most of our comments are defensive, following constant attacks and whinges by certain posters.

At least, that's how they're intended to be as far as I'm concerned.

And for the record, I don't defend the Liverpool supporters who were involved in Heysel. I loathe Liverpool FC and their supporters have been whitewashed for way too long as being something special.

Don't twist my words.

When I said that it could have been any team involved in Heysel, that wasn't to suggest that those who were involved weren't responsible. They were. And I despise the way Liverpool FC tried to sweep it under the carpet.

I don't know any of the people who were involved, so I don't know if they were just swept along with the mob hysteria that erupted. I don't have any problem with them being labelled irresponsible, thick morons, because that's not in question imo. I don't know if any of them intended for people to die - if they did, then murderers is fitting. I'd be interested to know if any of them suffer guilt.

It's only the generalisation of the word murderers that's a bit OTT and distasteful.

Any of the Liverpool fans involved, who don't feel remorse and a lifelong guilt, can be called a murderer imo. But we don't know who they are.

Bearing in mind that there were reports of them throwing stones and spitting at LFC fans are you saying there were there NO hooligans in the Juve supporters?

I went to the European Cup Final in Paris with Leeds and saw awful violence and it was lucky that day nobody died. I was at St Andrews in the 80's when a 15 yr old Birmingham fan was crushed to death by a wall. I was at Hillsborough for a cup semi and we were lucky to escape a crush along the lines of the LFC tragedy.

Notorious hooligans were not exclusive to LFC.

Judging by the way you moan it must be really shite elsewhere.

It's specious to say that it would have happened to any other team though. In all likelyhood it wouldn't have. Liverpool fans had a bad reputation for attacking supporters who weren't involved in hooliganism.

They threw the same bottles and stones that were thrown over the fence at them, Would would you do if rocks and stones were raining down on your wife? Stand there and take it?

Leeds were also a Club notorious for that type of thing. Doesn't mean it could have happened to the other 100 or so professional Clubs in England. It's absolutely ridiculous to say that it could have.

...and yes it was really, really shit elsewhere.

I would have thought someone that had no hooligan intentions would run like hell rather than stand and trade bottles with the charging Liverpool fans.

I for one would have made sure my wife was safe.

So now it's Liverpool AND Leeds who had notorius fans.

You need to ask the opinions of more match going fans from the 70's and 80's.

If you could have made a statement that screamed out "I know feck all". That was probably the best one to make.

There was no they could have run to, they were literally in between a rock and hard place...and we all know what happened when the attempted to. And I never claimed it was exclusively Liverpool supporters who had those types of fans, I was only disputing the rather absurd statement that it could have happened to any Club.

It was a match going supporter in the eighties BTW.

OK, let me break this down into simple chunks.

Hes on about the WUMs that come in here and then said:

"If you don't like the caf, you've more than made your point by starting another forum and fecking off to it, have'nt you."

My response to that is that they didnt start another forum and feck off to it. Or if they did, it certainly isnt RR (as I started that) and he is in danger of tarring every member of that forum with a shitty brush. And that just isnt fair.

The anti-RR sentiment from some members and mods in here mimics the anti-Caf sentiment from some members and mods in RR. They are no better than each other really.

Maybe our mods should actively and publically start applauding anti-caf posts in RR and forget this drive we have going on to try and stamp that out.

Veng said:

It could be argued that if it wasn't for me fecking about, another forum wouldn't exist in the first place. The idea wouldn't have even entered anyone's head.
