Rebuilding Real Madrid - how do you do it? | Buy well

Might depend on whether we wrote cristiano's sale down for 17/18 or 18/19

As a supporter what do you expect from Mendy? He has the same flaws and some of the qualities of a young Marcelo.

Hazard, Eriksen and Pogba would be quite a raid of the Premier league. Basically taking the best player from the 3rd, 4th and 6th best teams.

Tasty young team Zidane is building...

Courtois

Odriozola Varane Militao Mendy

Casemiro

Pogba Isco

Hazard Jovic V Junior

Not even including Kroos, Ramos, Modric, Carvahal, Marcelo, Asensio, Bale, Benzema and probably lots more I've missed...

Hi all by the way. Fully involved with the transfer muppetry!

I dispute Eriksen as Spurs' best player. Kane is better in the big picture and in this season Son was the best in the majority of opinions.

Zidane chose him, so I expect the world from him :D

To start with, they should scrap plans to sign Hazard. Hugely overrated, showboating, prima donna. Sign Willian instead.

From Spurs I'd rather us buy Eriksen or Son if Bale ends up leaving, as from Liverpool I wouldn't mind Sadio Mané, so yeah we should be all over Suprs and Liverpool best players. :smirk:

I am happy with this signing.

Ferland Mendy is done as well. Have no Idea how good he is, but hopefully he is strong enough to challenge Marcelo who is running on his last legs.

Hazard should be done as well soon. Will be a great addition. Hopefully he can win the CL with Real Madrid.

Rodrygo is coming as well. I wonder how good he is. Looks incredible on youtube clips. I have huge expectations from him. Some say he is even better then Vinicious who was the only positive from this season.

Done Deal: Militao, Jovic, Mendy and Rodrygo.

Close to deal done: Hazard

Need to buy: Eriksen or Pogba.

Dreaming of: Mbappe.

So; Real Madrid struggle for a few years and then go on to buy Ronaldo, Kaka and Benzema in a single summer before going on to add players such as Modric, Kroos and James during the coming years.

That squad starts cracking and they complete four deals by early June, while also being close to bringing in a proven World Class player in Hazard.

Meanwhile, United keep wondering why their scattergun approach keeps failing, with the sole two truly sought-upon players they signed in the current decade being Pogba and Sanchez. I'm close to a point where I will feel that there is simply no way back for United.

"The father of Mbappé met weeks ago in Zürich with someone very important in the world of football.
Mbappé does not want to continue in PSG, although at the moment he has a contract so he does not have another option, but doesn´t look good for the future.
The Brazilian clan "gives him the cold shoulder". He feels quite lonely.
His relationship with Neymar is quite bad, if not nonexistent

Yes, I know what you are thinking. We must free him.

They will bounce back strong. Maybe not this coming season, but the one after is when they will start gelling and being a real threat. Militao, Mendy, Rodrygo, Vincicus, Asenjo, Llorente, Ceballos, Jovic will all have their first season/another season behind them. Ramos/Modric/Kroos/Marcelo. will be phased out.

I think they will land Hazard this window and could probably land one of Neymar/Mbappe/Pogba the summer after.

Well Utd never fail to mention that they will get the business done early! All fecking nonsense anyways

Madrid are brilliantly placed for the next decade IMO. They may have to endure a year or two of transition but at the end of the day what matters is how well you're run. And over the last half a decade or so they've been run very well. They seem to have lost that mental streak they used to have of putting hype before sense.

From all accounts here, Jovic is billed to be the next top CF. The two young Brazilians they signed are very highly rated - one of whom did well last season. Hazard is a phenomenal footballer who would are a lot. Everyone again seems to rate Militao very highly And given their spending over the last 5-6 they should have PLENTY left in the tank.

I have seen absolutely nothing yet of Militao, Jovic or Mendy but it feels great that it seems like we're not messing around this summer. I'm confident we'll have at least one big florentino-special, galactico signing too. If he can land Mbappe I will tatoo perez' face over my face.

Must be a good feeling indeed.

What a load of shit

Mbappe to Real feels natural. Sooner or later he has to play there. I hope sooner, because it´s a waste of talent for him to play in League 1. Jovic is the new Benzema and Mbappe the new Ronaldo.

This thread title just got me thinking about how I perceive Real Madrid as the supporter of a different team. And honestly, after the season they had, I view them as a shadow of their very recent past. I don't see players wanting to go to Madrid as eagerly as in 2014/15/16; the draw of Bernabeu and its history (and the moolah of course) is still very much there but IMO it's far reduced than even a couple years ago. They're going to have to put in a really really good season to start attracting talent like they used to.

Then I think about United, and I realise how f*cked we are. Many years of back to back under performance. It's no wonder that players from all over are playing us to get a big pay check from another team. The silver lining though is that our club's immense history gives us the ability to get back on track with just one amazing season. And then I think about how that season was the one under Mourinho when we finished 2nd, but Woodward didn't allow Mourinho to leverage that to build the team further.

Well it is. They were brutal last year and the team that won the CL is breaking up and/or getting old.

They need a refresh as much as United.
They need to rebuild and continue their good work in building their next great side. We need fixing after failed managerial stints. They won the CL multiple times only to have one bar season and haven't spent much in recent times. We've spent 6 years loitering around 4th to 6th wasting money. There's no comparison. They are well placed and we are not.

I don't like them but i have huge respect how they build a team. First of all, they build a team to win things. Last year is the first year when they fecked it up by not replacing Ronaldo. But this year is proof how competent president does things. First he admited mistake with coach( two times). Then he did transfers early. I will not say that those players are good or not but i guess that Zidane said; "i want him, him and him". Perez did it already. Only Hazard is left basically.
Here on Caf, every year when June comes, we say "it is only early June", then "it is only mid june", then "we have 30 more days", etc...

They’ve been awfully managed in the past few years. Perez got more criticism than ever which is the main reason this summer is happening.

If they had been managed well there wouldn’t have been any need for transition years.

How many teams in history of football have maintained continued success without transition at some point?

Especially in regards to success in Europe.

I'm going for zero...

Looks like we're playing hard ball over Hazard fee. Think he'll stay till January if Madrid don't up their offer.

Roman knows he's key for Zidane and RM can't afford to wait?...

They don't mess about do they?

It'll be hilarious if they manage to get Eriksen and cool interest on Hazard.

These things don't work out like that very often. Only 2 or 3 years ago the same was said about Isco, Asensio, Odegaard, Kovacic, James etc. as highly rated youngsters. Literally none of them will play a role in Madrid next season bar Isco as a bench option maybe.

For instance, I give it 80 % chance that Vinicius turns out a Douglas Costa level player with a bit of dribbling and pace and not much else. He has abysmal end product and the chances that it stays like that are really high.

Militao is a 21 year old player who played ONE season in Europe in the Portuguese League.

Jovic, again, only played ONE season in a weak league and looks like a bonafide poacher. He averages about 10 successful passes per game. Chances that he is the next generation's lead striker of Real Madrid for the upcomign decade are maybe 5 %. Chances that he ends up Dzeko or Mandzukic level striker at best are 90 %.

Hazard is the only sure thing and he is 29 next season so will maybe give Madrid 3 peak seasons, one of them might be a classic Hazard ghosting season.

After Hazard I give Militao the highest chances to succeed as Madrid seem to get it right with defenders: Ramos, Pepe, Varane, Marcelo. The others are a lottery basically.

I beg to differ. Getting Pedro, the first man ever to win World Cup, European Championship, Premier League, Champions League, and Europa League instead of the overrated Belgian would be a bigger feat, and is sure to anger Barca.

According to Pedrerol Hazard will be official in the next hours.Around 100m

They’ve been awfully managed in the past few years.

Zero net spend in last 5 years and 3 CL's and a league title in the same period. That will never happen again in football.

Dude, your salt is dripping out of my monitor.
