more than matched Chelsea until the red.

1 long range strike, apart from that we kept them pretty quiet. A team that's been scoring for fun against most the league.

Sure we could have done better with the ball but a 1-0 loss is nothing to be disappointed about, many fans thought we would lose by more with 11 men.

Well done boys, let's get Thursday won and crack on.

Aye. Thought we gave a decent account of ourselves, at least defensively, anyway.

Yep agreed for the most part felt sorry for Rashford.

The Herrera sending off swing the game wildly in their favour.

Rojo was brilliant.

Proud of Valencia, DDG, Rojo, and Rashford. The rest, Pogba in particular, can feck off with spineless performances like that.

Everyone except Paul did well.

Sorry Paul. We love you. Next year is your year

Well at last we have a team with a bit of fight now. We've been too soft for a few years now.

Bullshit. That's the sort of thing a tinpot club would come out with. Fact is we've been beaten by Chelsea AGAIN.

We had one chance in 90mins. Down to 10 men, yes, but the only way we looked like we could go through was on pens.

Proud of what? Valencia and Rojo worked their socks off, everyone else did alright in defending the 1-0 loss. Nothing to be proud of though.

I am not really that proud, but I don't blame them for the loss. Ref ruined the game, and Chelsea players dived around like cnuts.

Defenders did really well. Not sure what the tactics were in the second half or why Fellaini was on the pitch.

I was proud of them after the Madrid CL defeat when Nani got sent off. I found us absolutely cowardly today after the red. We had no intention of even trying to play any football. We defended well yes but we showed no courage and attack at all.

At least we didn't capitulate. :) Thought we weren't too bad given the circumstances.

Good effort, who knows what would have happened with 11 men and Mkhitaryan on the pitch

Most disappointed in Jose. You don't play 3 or 5 at the back without a ball playing defender. You cannot expect Jones, smalling & Rojo to do anything with the ball they win.

Was the ideal game to use blind at CB.

The players did well but tactics wise we were always playing 2nd fiddle.

Yeah, we matched the best side in England in the first half and fought our hearts out in the second.
You can see why we're so hard to beat

Not sure how you can be proud but it does show how important it is to have luck to win cup competitions. We may have used all ours in the EFL Cup final.

Rojo and Valencia were awesome, really really proud of the boys, played very well,we can't complain about this performance.Well done to the Team and hard luck

Wouldn't go as far as proud, but certainly not disappointed. Valencia was great and Rojo and Jones both went up in my estimations.

Agree, thought we were good.

They won from a wonder strike and they were were 1 man up.

There were some players who really stepped up (particularly Rojo who I've been critical of previously), Pogba phoned it in and a couple (Herrera and Valencia) behaved like idiots. I've mixed feelings because we were probably better than I expected and we did mostly restrict the best side in the country but at the same time we still didn't do much even before the red despite being the most expensive squad in the history of world football and the highest paid squad in sport. That's more a reflection of the mess we've been in recent years though than a realistic reflection of where we are, we're a squad that should probably make the top 4 who most likely will just miss out.

Yep. When you draw the in form league champions elect away, when you could have had non league dross at home, your luck is really out

Terrible viewing. Clear gulf in class but yeah we didn't capitulate with 10 men behind the ball so it's not a disaster.

It's wrong to criticize the team as playing the champions elect with 10 mean for an hour without your main forwards is just asking too much from anyone. But proud is going too far, we basically sat in for the entire second half and offered absolutely nothing at the other end. No different to Bournemouth really last week when they came to OT. All in all, great effort from Valencia, Rojo, Jones, Young and Rashford but the offensive impotence was a bit too much even for the circumstances.

Despite what Noodle says, I liked seeing us fight.

So true.

The players should be proud for even putting on their kits and stepping on the pitch tonight. Such bravery.
