Discussion Your Lineup Prediction

  • Yeah once Wheatley went out on loan along with the possibility of Rashford leaving we should have registered Obi when the window closed

Rashford had already gone as well - the deadline for registering three new players was 6 Feb.

Will we have XI players to start this?

Zirkzee after he was almost dead playing 120+ in the last game?
Do we want Maz to start after playing 120+ in the last game?
How long can Dalot and Bruno go on before breaking down?

    Onana
    Yoro de Ligt Heaven
    Dalot Ugarte Bruno Dorgu
    Zirkzee Garnacho
    Hojlund
Criminal limiting our attacking options in the January transfer window. Amateur hour from Berrada and co.

Must win game. I’d of said we can afford to draw here but our OT record is awful so we need the win here

Zero confidence going into this. Have traditionally been given a hard time by spanish opposition in Europe, expecting nothing less this time around. They have lost their last games too, albeit to Madrid and Barca.
    I think we'll see this:

    Onana
Maz - De Ligt - Yoro
    Dalot - Ugarte - Bruno - Dorgu
    Zirkzee - Garna
    Hojlund
Really hope we see last seasons Europe Hojlund, we don't even have Obi to call out on the bench. Also hope Amorim goes with a full bench, no harm having some attacking talent from the youth on there.

So you know Obi is ineligible but you think we have some other youth attackers available?

Not got enough for a full 12 on the bench by my count, guessing the line-up. ManUtd.com have Louis Jackson listed as available but he's on loan I thought?

    André Onana
    Patrick Dorgu
    Noussair Mazraoui
    Matthijs de Ligt
    Leny Yoro
    Diogo Dalot
    Bruno Fernandes
    Manuel Ugarte
    Rasmus Højlund
    Joshua Zirkzee
    Alejandro Garnacho

    Bench

    Dermot Mee
    Victor Lindelöf
    Harry Amass
    Habeeb Ogunneye
    Ayden Heaven
    Christian Eriksen
    Casemiro
    Jack Fletcher
    Jayce Fitzgerald

Obi is ineligible because he hasn't been at the club for more than two years. Presumably there are other academy attacking players who have been.

Such a paper thin squad at the moment, plus 120+ minutes on Sunday.

    Makes this match incredibly hard.

Not sure what United can do differently or change tactically tbh. Just field the 11 players that have recovered the most and hope for the best.

I'd gladly take a draw if offered now and while nervy and anxious Old Trafford is no advantage to United this season you never know it might be another draw and shootout but keep Lindelof off any penalties.

All the remaining teams in the Europa League would fancy their chances against us, but Real Sociedad is definitely one of the sides who you'd expect to comfortably beat United. They are just a better side than us and should be favourites to progress. We can only hope that the 'Manchester United' name might have a bit of a negative psychological impact on them (as might 70k+ at Old Trafford next week).

We have been really shit at OT under Amorim. I don't think we have beaten any half decent team at OT since he arrived.

We cannot play an out-of-form Hojlund in a game this important. Just play Garnacho as a false nine.

He can draw the centre backs forward and open up gaps in behind for the likes of Dorgu. Drop off him too much, he can turn and run with the ball.

I know our options are limited but we cannot keep playing games with 10 men.

Big pressure game now. The only games that really matter for the rest of the season now are the Europa League games. Let's hope there's more to come than just the next couple of weeks.

They've scored 23 goals in the league this season, so a similar problem to us - can't score. They were in the middle of the EL table, had to play a qualifier. Without the injuries I'd expect us to beat them, right now I expect an even game.

cant imagine our fitness is gonna be great in this game. If Sociedad come out with intensity would expect them to just run thru us at this point. The amount of players who are probably tired going into this game and will have to put in another full 90 is gonna be sad to see. Plus the bench is going to be even weaker than before with obi not available. Only good news is dorgu got a slight rest i guess.

We're still unbeaten in Europe and Sociedad are nothing special.

I predict a Man United in Europe special. 2-0 lead blown, 2 all final score.

I have a funny feeling we’ll nick this by a goal or two. No idea on the scorer(s) - OG is probably favourite.

We haven’t named any other striker in the squad . It’s Hojlund , Zirkzee and Wheatley who is injured on loan

That’s about the sum of the only team we can put out that might be able to nick a result. Shocking really.

Our first of 2 final games in Europe this season. Let’s get knocked out respectably. Don’t want to be on the receiving end of an Arsenal type thrashing - let’s save that for Sunday.

they barely score regardless of opponent and have one of the worst attacks in La Liga. plus, they have 6 losses in their last 9 league games. even Midtjylland managed to score 3 against them. if this ends as easy loss, it's entirely on Amorim.

You’re right - Jackson is on loan at Tranmere.

The players aren’t a factor? Given they’re…you know, the ones out there actually playing the game.

What exactly have this group of players shown you that would absolve them of any blame should we not turn up?

Saying a loss would be entirely on Amorim before a ball has even been kicked would be crazy at any time, never mind when we have proof that this group aren't exactly up to it.
