I like how our logo is twice the size of Madrid's.

But yes, I have been waiting for this since Ronaldo left. Let's smash those feckers.

EDIT: Fergie admitting that he had planned 7 changes before City's matches but felt after the City match that he could rest players in the later stages in the season.

I have no clue what team SAF will pick. He has about a bazillion different options.

-----------Van Persie----------
-----Rooney----------Nani-----
-------Cleverley--Carrick-------
-------------Jones------------
Evra----Vidic--Ferdinand--Rafael
------------De Gea-------------

Subs: Lindegaard, Evans, Anderson, Valencia, Giggs, Kagawa, Hernandez

Will be interesting who plays in midfield. I'd like to see Cleverley, Carrick and Kagawa start but we could have Jones and Ando with Carrick in midfield.

Definite starters; DDG, Rafael, Evra, Carrick, Rooney, RvP

Other 5 places could be anyone!

My XI to battle Real:

De Gea
Rafael - Ferdinand - Evans - Evra
Carrick - Cleverley
Nani - Rooney - Kagawa
RVP

It's very difficult, Vidic was amazing today, can he play twice in the space of three days? Welbeck could start too in space of Kagawa/Nani, but I feel Nani's pace and ability could hurt Real on the left if Ronnie decides defending isn't one for him. Guaranteed starters are De Gea, Rafael, Ferdinand, Evra, Carrick, Cleverley, Rooney and RVP... so who's going to partner Rio and then we gotta choose two from Kagawa, Hernandez, Welbeck, Young, Valencia, Nani & possibly even Giggs. Right now I'm over the moon with the win against Everton, but Wednesday can't come fast enough!

That could well be the line up but Kagawa might also be a candidate who'll play. So difficult to tget the right line up, glad I'm not in Fergie's shoes

What I'm guessing we'll put out. Tempted to put Kagawa in there, but I feel Nani will contribute more to our counter attacking because of his strength on the ball and his speed. We need our best defence out there, and Vidic has to play. Still our best center back, and Ferdinand being rested today is a sign that he'll probably start against Madrid as well. Another option is going for a 4-2-3-1, dropping Anderson and playing a front four of Nani-Rooney-Kagawa with RVP on top but I feel like that'd be too risky and open in Madrid. That's more what I'm expecting for the home leg.
Hope we don't choose Valencia for his defensive ability, because even though he is showing signs of getting better, I feel like these type of games definitely aren't suited for him but are suited more for a Nani type player. Hoping for a score draw, we'll need everyone on top form for this.

We will defeat these cnuts.

I said it the day this tie was drawn, this will go down as an absolute classic.

Seriously, it doesn't get more exciting than this.

De Gea
Rafael, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra
Cleverley, Carrick, Jones
Rooney, Kagawa
Van Persie

Give or take depending on Jones fitness, I'd happily take something like that. I reckon instead we may see Giggs in ahead of Jones actually and possibly even Nani or Valencia in ahead of Kagawa to give us the width. Either way I can see SAF getting it right here.

No offense to you IL, but why are you so desperate to start a matchday thread that you do such a shitty job of it?

We've shown glimpses of quality football throughout the season..I'm praying this is the game when it all finally clicks.

I'd love it if we start RVP, Rooney, Kagawa and Nani.

--------------- DDG -----------------
Rafael ---- Rio ------- Vidic ----- Evra

But I think we'll see something entirely different.

Yes of course we will see something different. For starters, we will see 11 players not 10.

By suspicion you mean hope?

Sort of, because that would lead to a great tie at OT. As far as I'm concerned, we should be supporting each other for the sake of England's coefficient which is going to drop like a stone if we don't get anyone past the R16.
