Real Madrid opens the door for Diarra, Lass Diarra, Gago and Van Der Vaart.

I doubt Fergie is interested. When was the last time he signed a player that was rejected/put on sale by another top club?

Exactly, he had a chance with Schneider and declined it so why would he go after these rejects

I wouldn't be against signing either Van Der Vaart or Lassana Diarra. I don't think either would be guaranteed starters but could both be very useful through the season.

Would Diarra count as home grown? How long was he at Arsenal for and from what age?

Michael Owen.

Wrong: Owen wanted to leave so he let his contract expire. He was neither put for sale nor not wanted (except Newcastle couldn't afford his wages in the down under league.

VdV is easily the best of the bunch and would fit in perfectly with our system. I'd put ten quid into the transfer bucket to aid in this

Can anyone translate it pls?

Here, a bit shit translation tho.
Valdano opens the door

* · Van der Vaart, Diarra, Gago Lass and in the market • The versatility of the French, his best endorsement · We exclude nationals of any discarded

comments

Jorge Valdano made it clear that right now there overbooking in the squad of Real Madrid, so we will discard. "There are 26 cards now, so you need to lighten the template and it will happen in the coming days."

The director general excluded players from the potential discards. He argued on the basis that any play in a position where there is a surplus of players: "The Spanish do not touch. The template lightens taking into account the positions and that does not affect the Spanish players currently on staff."

The four names listed on the agenda of Valdano are: Van der Vaart, Diarra, Gago and Lass. The club is very pleased with the performance given by the Netherlands last year, but do not want to cut the path Channels. Moreover, his move may make case. The Mali player you have a year contract and no club is willing to spend five million for his transfer. The Madrid would be willing to study the transfer of Lass from 15 million, but Mourinho was not clogged by its versatility. And as for the Argentine ahead Khedira Xabi Alonso and who will leave as full members of the double pivot.

I prefer calling him "decent", who could become "good" (but nothing more).

Far too raw - he should have stayed at Arsenal and fought for his place - he would have learnt how to make full use of his talent.

I agree. Especially with the way things panned out with Flamini leaving. He'd have probably gotten games.

Diarra would be a fantastic addition, he would add a some bite and ball retention to our midfield. I'm not sure about Gago as I haven't seen an awful lot of him.

I'm not sure about that. He's no better at retaining the ball as anyone else so I don't see how he'd add anything in that repect.

On the contrary when I've watched him play one of the things that struck me about him was that he rarely gave the ball away, one criticism of him could be his passing is too conservative.

Is that code for "only passes backwards"

I'd imagine only VDV would be a possible consideration for SAF but I highly doubt he'd make a move.

Sometimes when the confidence goes to his head he might venture a sideways one.

:)

I'm kind of with you anyway. He would be a good signing imo. Especially seeing as Hargreaves is perma-crocked.

VDS for one. Reject from Juventus. Owen is a good shout as well and so is Laurent Blanc. But I'm digging back ten years now.

When was the last time Fergie signed a player having not even seen a clip of him? There is always a first for everything. Just because there hasn't been a case in the past where might have gone for a reject of another top club, doesn't mean he'd never do it.

Right type player, right time - who knows. Right now unless news changes on Hargreaves - Diarra seems a decent shout if he is being "rejected" by Madrid.

Also, maybe it holds true that a player being rejected by a top club just isn't good enough for the big time but, am sure there is also a decent list of players that didn't fit at a top club for whatever reason that go on to do well in the right situation.

Yup. There's just something about Argentinians.

I'm nervous about letting another Argentinian into my heart.

Come on, plenty of argentines show great service. Zanetti is a role model for anyone. Messi will likely never leave Barcelona. Tevez never wanted to leave United, Hienze was/is and always will be an utter cnut.

Veron, Tevez, Heinze and Marcos. 4 great examples why we should not sign Argentinians.

If we bought Gago, we'd have to sell O'Shea, to let someone gay go*.

* John O'Shea recently got married, and probably isn't actually gay.

Diarra (not Lass, the other one) is a major crock...only reasons we'd have him here is to give our permacrock Hargreaves company on the bench.

Van der Vaart I have a feeling won't hack it in England. Like Huntelaar I think people over rate his abilities. His style is more suited to Seria A, and perhaps Germany.

Lass is ok for the right price because he plays a position which we are currently short in. But do we really want a Arsenal, Chelsea, Madrid reject?

Pass on all three. All three will probably cost 8-10 million, and if Fergie did make a move for them after passing on Ozil, i'm not sure i'd be able to take it.

Oh. Just realized I forget to mention Lady Gaga...but that's ok, he's basically the forgotten man that nobody really cares about anyway.

I can't see Mournhio letting RVD go. That is his type of player.
