Real Madrid need to get ready for a terrible season | It’s happening

They can say goodbye to signing Hazard if they appoint Conte

I don't really agree, even in games without Ronaldo they were able to play great, it's just that Modric is getting older (with a extremely tiring world cup), some other player are bored and weary and they don't have the same drive they used to.

They weren't playing any better last season though, Modric has been playing like this for a year now. Kroos even worse. And the attack Ronaldo aside has always been completely average. The defensive problems are nothing new either.

They don't have one of the top 5 squads in the world despite getting rated that way, plenty of overrated players in the team.

Don't really follow La Liga at the moment. Just seen the result today and noticed Madrid are pretty much in our position.

Wonder who will sack their manager first.

I liked it better when Messi was there and held up his shirt for the Real fans.

I watched the first half and parts of the second half, especially towards the end.

They were getting schooled by Barca. Barca were cutting through them with such ease, could have been much worse at the end.

According to Onda Cero Lopetegui Will be sacked and Conte will be introduced tomorrow

Yeah but what about the previous years? I'd be curious to hear who are the overrated players in their starting XI from last season. Marcelo? Ramos? Carvajal? Modric? Kroos? Casemiro? Varane? I don't think so. The only huge disapointements to me are Asensio and Isco (especially Asensio).

To be fair Asensio was hyped up to ridiculous levels due to his goals from long range. His overall game has never been that impressive. Isco on the other hand is a superb footballer.

Them not going after Mbappe when they had the chance just looks more and more stupid.

They did but Mbappe wanted to go to a team where he can play every game. Madrid then couldn’t guarantee that.

In hindsight, they probably should have offloded Benzema and Bale.

If Ronaldo plays I think they get the equaliser and its a different game.
Just shows what Ronaldo brings. He covered for an inconsistent right side, a striker who can't score and a midfield who have no attacking threat at all.

You could see the cracks during Zidane's last season but somehow he carried them over the line with a champions league win.

Ronaldo gone, Zidane gone, Bale gets injured too often, Modric and Ramos getting old - I can see them dropping really far behind Barca in all honesty.

Even if they do sign Neymar or Mbappe it wont be easy to steer this ship on its track.
We got Nostradamus in the house. Hell of a call here, man. I thought they'd decline a bit, as in 2nd in the league and KO in the CL semi, nothing like this though.

Madrid just 3 points off the top four though.

Lopetegui needs to stay longer for any real damage to be done.

A superb footballer for highlights yeah. But give him the keys to a game and you end up with 454 side passes, 10 great moves that lead to nowhere and almost nothing that gives you dangerous attempts. He did it with spain, he does it with Real Madrid and i start to understand why Zidane really wasn't a big fan.

Surely they’ll sack him tonight, they don’t usually waste any time.

Definitely sacked today and that's exactly why Real Madrid were so successful in recent years, they just don't accept mediocrity.

I know Lopetegui is shit but look at the state of their attack? Not a single player I'd want Man Utd to spend money on.

That's the problem. Both are playmakers. They are not direct. They won't get you goals. They won't kill teams.
That Madrid attack won't score enough goals under any manager .

Fair point. Bale can't stay fit either doesnt help at all

Thats not really what your point was though. Asensio and Isco too are both players that would do well here.

Selling their 50 goal a season CF and then hedging their bets on Bale staying fit

One of the worst decisions ever taken by a top club.

Does Conte always play with 3 in the back or has tried other systems successfully?

I can only speak for his time at Chelsea. I believe he said he tries to find the best formation given the players in the squad. He started off with a 4-2-4, then 4-3-3, then 4-2-3-1, then arrived and settled with the 3-4-3. All within 2-3 months. The following season he switched to a 3-5-1-1 for a bit as well.

I'm not sure. We need pure attackers of which they are not.

We have players who can score, I think we lack a playmaker like Isco/Assensio, Mata is the guy we have but he isn't up to the task imo

Conte regularly played a 4-3-1-2 at Juve with a midfield of Pogba, Pirlo and Vidal

No he did not, he started with a 442 that became 424 when attacking in the first three months of his experience at Juve, then in November 2011 we played a famous match vs Mazzarri's Napoli that at the time was stronger than Juve and played 352, so he mirrored them to block Cavani and Lavezzi and he adopted his trademark 352 since then with Chielllini, Bonucci and Barzagli behind a midfield with Vidal, Marchisio and Pirlo and two external defenders (Lichtsteiner and De Ceglie or Estigarribia that year, upgraded the following year with Asamoha). Since that game he played pretty much all Juve games with 352 and the same with the National team. He moved to a 343 formation when he moved to Chelsea during the first year to exploit Hazard better, during the second year he experimented more

Asensio in particular on our RW would be amazing.

No, I don't think he'll be. One of those over hyped young attacking players who get overrated due to a couple highlight worthy moments, but do not have a good overall game to shine through. Bet he'll be at a mid-table La Liga club in a couple of years; i.e. if an English club flush with cash doesn't stupidly decide to throw huge money for him & help Madrid out.

Thanks,For me the 3-5-2 is a waste,5 positions occupied by defenses.3-4-3 sounds better but don't know in the long term

Yes his 3-5-1-1 was very frustrating to watch but he changed to it because Pedro and Willian’s form was dreadful and warranted being dropped. We had no other wingers in the squad.
