RBS 6 Nations

Why do they not play all of the final day matches at the same time? How anti-climactic for all of the Irish fans to have left the stadium and not see their team lift the bloody trophy.

TV reasons probably? If you only have three games in any given game week then you'll probably want to grab the biggest possible audience for each one. Especially when there are only five game weeks in the whole tournament in the first place.

Plus on days like today it's probably a good thing for the fans. Choosing just one of those three games to watch would have been tough...

Yeah England playing later on in the day really added to the tension(Although not good for the heart).

I'm a bit suspicious about England playing last. That was a huge advantage. If they got that slot because Sky wanted the biggest audience for the tea time game then that really takes away from the integrity of the competition IMO. If it was luck of the draw, then fair enough.

Heart stopping show yesterday, something like 7 hours of rugby union. France v England was an incredible, open game. Must be disappointing for the England and for the fans but they put in a superhuman effort, delighted for this incredible Irish team.

It could have backfired on them. Had Wales and Ireland lost or won by just a few points, England's game could have been a total let down. Its purely a matter of luck that it turned out like it did.

Had Wales played last it would have been interesting to see them having to beat Italy 72-20 instead!

In which case I really hope they all enjoyed watching us win the title, I know I did. :D

These dates and kick off times are set before any 6 nations game is played. For example England played fist last year, with Ireland playing last and both teams had a chance of winning the tournament.

Ireland have been the best northern hemisphere team for a few years now and totally deserve to win.

From an England perspective - The forwards pick themselves, England gave 2 or 3 international standard players for each position. No Corbs, Wilson, Launchbury, Morgon even Parling, Wood and Lawes starting the 6N injured yet England could still put out a top class group of forwards. But the backs we had a number of question marks going in to the 6N. From 9 to 15 who starts at the World Cup. Who was gonna play at 9? can Ford live up to the hype, can England find a decent centre partnership? the full backs and can Brown pick up last years form? With so many first 6N caps it was going to be hard but I think Lancaster now has 5 out of those 6 positions filled. 9 Youngs, 10 Ford 11 Nowell, 12?, 13 JJ, 14 Watson and 15 Brown. Only question for me is 12, I though Burrell was pretty average, so he might have out played himself out of that place. Unless Sam Burgess can improve (which can happen) I think it's Man Utd's to lose. But he has to get fit for that so maybe Barritt.

The Eng/Fra game wasn't good for my heart. Crazy finish to an amazing day of rugby.
Congrats to the boys in green :)

In the best interests of fairness, I think they should. It was outstanding TV, but I wonder if the results would've been slightly different if Ireland and England had not known the results of the games before them? Perhaps I'm just being a bitter Welshman, but Ireland had the advantage of being set a solid target, and England even more. Matches on the final day should all be played at the same time I think.

I would have hate that, I want to see all the games.

No it adds to the excitement and then there is the fact its a whole year till the next 6 nations why waste the final day matches by being on at the same time.

I think it was decided before the importance was known? Rugby is not my specialist subject though.

It's actually France who got it.

Edit: And if you go on the RBS6nations site you will that the games are already scheduled for the next two years.

Yeah I acknowledged the excitment but don't think it's entirely fair.
