RAWK Goes into Meltdown 2014/2015 - The "We go again" Edition

I do think it's funny how big an impact one's name and passport can have on his perception. Danny Ings is more average, squad-filling, midtable dross and Alexandre Lacazette is the next big thing when, really, at 22 they're virtually the same player.

I can't even...

Some of them are 'orribly optimistic about tonight's big semi. But how much Mourinho pisses them off is fantastic.

Rawk poetry threads (of course).

Some favourites:

It was cup final night in Istanbul,
And the ref had just blown half time,
All the Reds around the world,
Looked to heaven for a sign,

God was drinking his co-co,
And reading a good book,
When Shankly hammered on his door,
Screaming "Boss ya gotta look!",

Together they turned the TV on,
And watched the unholy score,
"This must be the work of the Devil" said God,
"Get Bob in here and shut the door",

Together they made a plan,
To turn the game around,
"It"s gonna take more than holy intervention" said Shanks,
"It needs a heavenly sound".

"But there is no choir of angels that could lift those players hearts",
As Liverpool sat in the dressing room,
Waiting for the pain of the 2nd half to start,

"Listen" said Bob with a knowing smile,
"We don't have to worry",
"Grab your coat and get Emlyn",
"Quick Lad, we have to hurry"!

Shanks stood proud in the dressing room,
Telling Raffa what to say,
While Bob listened in on Milan's plans,
For information he could relay,

Emlyn sat in between the Kop,
To cheer the supporters up,
Not one person in the world,
Thought that the Reds would lift that cup,

Then somewhere in the distance,
A shout--"WE CAN TAKE OLD BIG EARS HOME"!,
Then we got engulfed in the heavenly sound,
Of "You"ll Never Walk Alone".

The song lit up the dressing room,
Bill smiled "Our work is done",
Bill Shankly, Bob and Emlyn,
They knew the cup was won.

For there is no choir of angels,
That can out sing the Kop,
No golden harps or trumpets,
Can knock us off the top,

God had a word with Paisley,
He asked "Are you sure, theirs lots more to play?"
"The cups going home to Anfield" said Bob,
"I know, its the Liverpool way."

Shanks nodded his head with delight,
"He is correct sir, isn't he Hughes?"
Emlyn just answered,
"We have just lit the glowing red fuse",

"We have just woken up the worlds best player",
"The famous Liverpool Red twelfth man",
"Just sit back and watch how the Kop play",
"The shouting will kill off Milan".

So as a Red never disrespect,
The players in our team,
With us all shouting for them,
We will all realize our dreams.

YAWN.

Time does not bring relief; you all have lied
Who told me time would ease me of my pain!
I miss him in the weeping of the rain;
I want him at the shrinking of the tide;
The old snows melt from every mountain-side,
And last year’s leaves are smoke in every lane;
But last year’s bitter loving must remain
Heaped on my heart, and my old thoughts abide.
There are a hundred places where I fear
To go,—so with his memory they brim.
And entering with relief some quiet place
Where never fell his foot or shone his face
I say, “There is no memory of him here!”
And so stand stricken, so remembering him.

Louis

The field's a green maze
when our Luis plays
turns and bends
hedgerow dead ends
his escapes can be seen
like a Steve McQueen scene
on his bike o'er the kop
from Gestapo jail to photo-op
a Uruguayan master class
in spatial physics and center of mass
of ball projection
of arching perfection
a passion injection for Panini collection
his swerves are the treasure
of Anfield's red pleasure
so long may he grace
Shankly's wrought iron gates.

Much have I traveled,
much have I seen,
I have absorbed and inhaled,
laughter lines,
and forward lines,
drawn battle lines across time lines,
through good times and bad,

It gets under the skin,
it leaves its mark,
and is worn with pride,
five stars flicker in the firmament,
which warm a deep and unconditional love,
which serves to remind us,
that all we need tonight,
perhaps more than ever,
is each other.

Coutinho and Hazard comparison thread (which is funny in itself).

He could potentially be the best visionary passer of the ball in the world in 5 years time.

Coutinho is a better dribbler, but Hazard beats people just as easily ( if not more easily) by being a lot quicker.

I'll keep saying it but he's our Iniesta. Even similar in the way that Iniesta in his peack didn't score as much as he should have in my opinion, just like Phil.

Hoping Ibe could become our Hazard without all the diving and screaming.

Goals, that's it. He has everything else and more imo.

Coutinho can genuinely become one of the best in the world and challenge for the Ballon D'or on a phenomenal year.

Ok, I've watched football for for getting on for half a century although never claim to be any kind of an expert, but what the feck is a visionary passer and how to you judge which of them is best.

It's the next level up from 'technician', and below 'false'.

So Liverpool now have the Welsh Xavi and the Brazilian Iniesta. Interesting.

It must be something that has to do with those passes through the middle he tries about 100 times in every game and fails.

I wonder if they are giving it the ''May aswell give us the cup now'' despite there being 3 teams higher ranked left in it.

In fairness, I really like Coutinho and think he will be one of the better players in the world if he gains a bit of consistency.

It pains me that he plays for that shower.

He is good, but don't get the notion that he will be one of the worlds best players. I think he is pretty close to his peak now IMO

Cant see why Coutinho couldnt become one of the best players in the world, he's a fantastic player, and his all the ability in the world. If he gains consistency, I really dont know why that's so laughable.

Agree. If he was here everyone would be gushing about him. He's got everything you want from that number 10 except his shooting is pretty awful. Dribbling, ball control, creativity, pace, stamina.

Oh my god.......

That's like a really twisted and depressing version of the Sturridge effect (the process by which the hype over a player's abilities increase as they don't play. Also known as the Darren Fletcher effect, the Jack Wilshere effect and the [Insert name of any United defender from the last 5 years] effect).

Based on?

He's 22. Who peaks at 22?

A few things but consistency and not fully imposing himself on games enough have always been the major flaw for him, from his Inter days until now at Liverpool. One game he will be fantastic and then the next pretty anonymous, in fact I would still say that to this day his loan spell at Espanyol was his most consistent run. Like I said I do think he is a good player but he is at that stage now where you have to question whether he will ever get the consistency needed to be a top world class player.

I'm personally not a big fan of Coutinho, but I do have to say that the entire concept of a player at their peak is that it's the time in which they add consistency and impact to their game. Younger players are expected to be erratic and inconsistent, the main difference between a youngster and someone in their prime is consistency. Even if consistency is Coutinho's main weakness, it's reasonable to expect him to grow out of that.

Thank feck they sold the English Messi aka Joe Cole.

He's having an excellent season this year and has been consistent. His output is the only thing lacking and some of that is due to the players around him.

It's a joke.
Lolz

I think he's already showing greater consistency.

Anyway, the notion that he's peaked at 22 is highly unlikely.

I would agree that in his 'up' games he is performing excellently, probably the best he has since he arrived but like I said he will be great one game and then pretty quiet the next, will be interesting to see if his performance level will change once he gets Sturridge back.

The reason I say I think he is close to his peak is that while he cannot get consistency then he won't improve that much more of a player IMO.

That isn't true at all this season. Last season while it holds a little bit more truth, it still really wasn't. He was good much more often than he was bad.

I think Coutinho will go up a level or two from here. It would help if he had a proper striker ahead of him though I reckon.

He did have more better games then bad, but I cannot remember a run of games as such in which he was consistently good in every one of them. Seemed to be more of a wishy-washy pattern, but hey I'm a United fan :)

Reminds me of Isco in many ways; just not quite the brilliance.
