RAWK Goes into Meltdown 2014/2015 - The "We go again" Edition

Benitez is not all that, he's no better than Mancini at City etc. He may well have Liverpool nailed on for 4th but that doesn't bother me, he got lucky in 2005 inheriting some decent players, the run to the final, Livepool scraped through, and in the final Milan thought the game was won at halftime.

The FA cup win vs West Ham, frankly took a Gerrard strike he only hit because he was knackered. Hes no Genius, still only my opinion, city would be welcome to him too for my money!!!

You can accuse virtually any manager of winning the CL of getting lucky, it's such an irrelevant point. I seem to recall Paul Scholes having a disallowed goal for one of the worst offside decisions in recent history, but you don't get people undermining Mourinho winning the CL because of that incident.

Also worth noting prior to Liverpool Benitez did a commendable job at Valencia, won the league twice and the UEFA Cup. He's doing a good job with Napoli as well. He is a very good manager in my opinion, and vastly underrated on here. Ok, he's no Mourinho or Ancelotti but he's definitely in the tier of managers below them.

I wanna say a fair few people do call that W lucky. The Inter one maybe less so but there's always a hint of luck in winning in Europe.

Heard some whoppers in my time but a RedCafe member saying that Benitez got lucky with the squad he inherited to win the CL is one of the best I've ever heard.

5th in the league. Jerzy Dudek. Djimi Feckwit Traore.

Seriously, let's try to keep the scousers as the lunatics around here.

I totally agree with you, I rate Benitez as a manager, ok he's not in the world class category but he is a good manager IMO.

No wonder you see whoppers when you can't feeking read properly!!

I said he got lucky for a number of reason, one of which was that he inherited some decent players. Hyppia, riise, gerrard, hamman, Alonso were all decent players and most instrumental in that CL win. Get your facts right.

Every players that Liverpool sign are going to be world class, or "near world class", as BarneyLFC puts it.

The only arguably world class player they've had in the last decade would be Suarez, and the pre-2010/2011 Fernando Torres.

Stevie Me when played in an advance position at his peak would be a good shout, but he always lack that intelligence to be world class.

That's a bit unfair tbh. Gerrard might not be anywhere near as good as he used to be, but at his peak, he was world class (unless you have a very narrow definition of world class)

Reading tends to be easier than typing, which you can't seem to do, so you're not the person to throwing that insult around. I can read fine broseph.

Doesn't matter whether it's one reason or one of many, it's still absolute nonsense.

Gerrard, in his pomp, was definitely world class. No two ways about it.

He clearly was.

I'm all for winding up Barney but there comes a point where you just make yourself look more of a mug.

For new Manager, a RAWK suggestion was Kenny overseeing Stevie. But anyway...

I read worse on Bluemoon the other day. I am hopeful the person was on the wind-up although I was too sickened to read any more, but the suggestion was sacking Pellegrini, replacing him with Tony Pulis then promoting Yaya Toure to assistant manager. This would only be a short term measure of course, just until Guardiola became available.

You realise he signed Alonso, right?

The majority of sides who feature in the champions league have at least a few decent players. It doesn't take away from his accomplishment of winning it.

RAWK quotes please. Take you bickering to the serious Liverpool thread.
I come in here to laugh.

I think it was Bruce Lee who basically said wing chun had too many forms which were unnecessary and through those forms weaknesses could be exploited, it was better to adapt and change to make sure the opponent could never easily anticipate your next attack. At the moment Brendan needs to take a leaf out of that book

That commentator is good for a laugh during Liverpool games.

Some of the players to be mentioned in their Overrated/Underrated thread:

Van Persie
Rooney
Smalling
Mata
Jones
Falcao
Ferdinand
Scholes
Cantona
Beckham

With Gerrard being touted as underrated of course.

On Scholes:
As an above poster mentioned, Scholes excelled as the 'metrognome' in midfield. His shooting was sufficient, his defensive ability nil, his ability to play wide questionable, his goal scoring record not particularly good.
