RAWK goes into Meltdown 19/20 Edition

Atkinson helped Liverpool last season: he helped Wolves draw with City (they scored with a hand-ball from offside position) and then didn't give a clear pen for a foul on Aguero at Anfield. Karma is a bitch.

I can't decide whether Atkinson is incompetent or just "politically correct". Since Liverpool were leading with 8 pts, he thought that it wouldn't harm them too much if some 50/50 or even 60/40 fouls are not given. Thought the pen with which Liverpool won against Leicetser was a bit soft and the foul on Origi was soft-ish too. He exaggerated the contact.

Likewise Liverpool got away with Van Dijk deciding to arse slam James into a player (people will say he won the ball, but he could have easily done so without wiping out James, he was looking for the contact to show how much of a hard man he is), and then Matip hitting him equally as hard ages after the ball had gone. Neither were even given as a foul.

There is such a thin line with Kloppo and Co they are always good for a superscale meltdown somewhere along the line, it will be their downfall this season as well.

Here's hoping. I'm kind of looking forward to him complaining about having to go and play the World Club Cup, which is due to their own success.

The second one was Fabinho and I'd be surprised if James' nose isn't broken, but the point stands. Both utter pricks that had no intention but to wipe out a player that they were petrified of running at them.

More games and more pressure with the same squad will be hard on them.

They've got used to having everything single thing go their way for a very long time now. One game where it doesn't and their fans, manager and deified journalists lose their collective shit. It's lovely and hopefully it continues.
Was saying as much yesterday, They are on an unbeaten run stretching back however long, clear top of the league, United are narrowly avoiding the relegation zone with losses to the mighty Crystal palace and West Ham and yet they are still convinced there is some sort of conspiracy against them.

It'll be on his website, The Tomkins Times. Not sure if it's a members only article or not.

I'm off to work now but will check later if you don't do so yourself .
Had a look and couldn't find it anywhere obvious. I find it hard to believe that something like that could be conclusively proven with statistics.

Specific to yesterday's game; lots of refs let the game flow rather than picking up on every foul. Matip (Non-British, Non Caucasian) going through James (British Caucasian) wasn't penalised and it seems to be more Atkinson's approach of allowing things to play out rather than stop the match constantly over fiery tackles.

RAWK said:
The club should file an official complaint to the league and petition to have Atkinson banned from reffing any of our matches over the next 5 years.

Oh yeah, he's dreadful alright.

Feck em. I know it wasn’t a foul but I want more controversy whenever that lot play. I want everything to go against them. They’ve had it good for so long now it’s ridiculous. Bet they don’t talk about the soft pen against Leicester in the last minute or that off side winner against Chelsea. Plus every other decision and bit of luck that’s gone their way. The more controversial the better. Balls to em.

For years we accused them of being game raisers when it comes to our games with them, you can just tell it's eaten away at them these past 30 odd years and they've been waiting for this time to shout it back at us

It's a bit like the Arsenal fans who cant wait to shift the Banter FC tag off of themselves

You'd hope these rivals fan bases could come up with their own material

What is the general consensus on the foul incident? Is it only me who thinks it's more of a dive?

Contact but he made a meal of it.
He did, there was minimal contact. If it’s a non contact sport then it’s a foul all day. Lindelof did nothing wrong. Derrick Acorah made a right meal of it. If that’s in the penalty area then he’s booked for diving.

It’s encouraging to see how much our rivals are beginning to hate Daniel James.
But they are hating him because they think he fakes it. Even if you have only half an eye, you could see that he was absolutely smacked into several times yesterday. How can you hate a player for getting smacked?

aye, so not just me then. I read today on many places that Pool are somehow hard done by with that decision.

There was slight contact but thought he bent his knee on purpose so he can fall down after heavy first touch and McT rushing in.

On their usual day, the Mane goal stands, ours gets disallowed and Atkinson gives the pen in the dying minutes.

No, they're using the faking it thing as a disingenuous stick to beat him with. They clearly rate him so they're comforting themselves with the idea he's a phoney.

Here's the link to the article. Goes over the last 7 years of penalties awarded in the Prem.

Paul Tomkins, fearless fighter of racism:
Claims that you have black friends just sound hollow and laughable, although presumably racists don’t have many black friends. Personally, I thought that the emergence of the fact, via the club’s official statement, that Luis Suarez’s grandfather was black was quite profound, because it means he has close black ancestors (rather than many millennia ago for the majority of the rest of us). That made me think it less likely that he’d racially abuse someone, seeing as he shares that race in his DNA.

My head hurts from reading that. I mean, I should have stopped once he discounted handballs for being inconsistently awarded over the time period, or where he was arguing over whether Zaha should be considered British or Foreign, or where he started having a dig at united players (and even referenced it himself).

Its far from an airtight study; there's quite a lot of assumptions in there (prime example being an expected amount of penalties being given or the fact he uses absolute figures for % of British versus Foreign even though the majority of those wont be directly involved in a penalty decision). Penalties are a small percentage of overall goals scored in that period (around 5-6%) and are never awarded at a consistent rate. Attacking teams will earn more penalties, struggling teams tend to concede more. Refs also aren't infallible and up until this season it was down to the ref or linesman being in the right position to identify all penalties. It was far from perfect and this is exactly why VAR came in.

Mot saying refs don't have an unconcious bias, but this "study" does not prove anything.

It’s more a case of officials being biased towards England players than against foreigners. The ref doesn’t take into consideration that Origi was the player brought down, he takes into account that he’d have to deny Rashford a goal. The challenge might have been viewed differently if Martial had been the scorer.

It’s good to see RAWK are self aware as ever, and fully onboard and supporting or agreeing with Jamie Carragher speaking out about racism, and admitting they were in the wrong with the t-shirts supporting Suarez after the Evra incident. You can always rely on them to be on the right side of an incident, and on message with general public opinion. Or not.
Carragher is an absolute embarrassment these days. Should've been a club legend, instead he's just a Rupert Murdoch puppet.
When has he been any different lad, kept his mouth shut when the club nearly went under and helped shaft Rafa just so he got himself a nice new contract when he should have been bombed out of the club earlier. Sickening to hear him, Evra has pulled that race card a few times so I would have serious doubts about his side of events . Should his true form assaulting that fan but makes loads of videos acting the nice guy so he must be right? If I was on the board I would be pulling him aside and warning him if he keeps up his shite he won’t be stepping inside Anfield again.
He was an embarrassment on Sunday. Neville and Tyler spent the whole 90 minutes laying into us; we needed Carragher to give it back to them but instead he not only allowed it to continue but he got involved, started some elements of the criticism and egged them on.

This Evra thing is no different. He's not saying his opinion, he's just saying what Sky want him to.

Instead of apologising for wearing t-shirts, he should have asked Evra to apologise for licking and sucking a fecking uncooked turkey.
