At least we can console ourselves with the net spend trophy. I for one cannot wait for that open top bus parade

Need to protest against FSG. Sick to death of the constant mediocrity. Businessman, not interested in us moving forward as a club. Sick of it.

Sarcasm?

How much money have Pool spent under FSG?

Anyone who doesn't think VAR is a joke really should now.

Last minute, Foster saves Van Dijk header and holds onto the ball for over ten seconds. Why can't a video ref count?
Annoying.

Special mention though for a young man who fulfilled his dream today. Danny from Winchester collected enough bottle tops to actually play a game for Liverpool!! On 65 minutes Danny came on to replace one of his heroes, captain Emre Can. Alongside such icons as Joel Matip and James Milner, Danny almost had a dream day but when released on goal he let the ball smack his arse. Still, a fantastic day for Danny and the whole Ings family.

Kind of annoying to lose out to a team who won't get anywhere near the final, but hopefully it has a positive effect on our league and Champions League games in that we have less matches to play now.

This thread will be in massive meltdown mode, though, thankfully the next game isn't too far away!
You're the LFC equivalent of this guy:

That Ings one!

Awful, weak, dreadful, puny, ineffective, shambolic, pathetic, balderdash, twaddle, bunk, hogwash, fruitless and unproductive.. Are just a few words to sum up our embarrassing performance tonight. Anyone care to add to that list?

invertebrates...fecking useless. Dopes

the almost premier league in 2014. before that it was The league cup in 2012.
I was having some fun with some Pool fans I know the other day who were laughing at how long it's been since we got the league or champions league and called us winning the league cup, FA cup and Europa league Mickey Mouse cups. Of course they think it's all between City and then moving forward given the roaring success Liverpool have enjoyed in the post Fergie era.

successive posts these 2, :)

I would add 'typical.'

Another one on Klopp

The reality is he’s just a bit shit all round, been saying it for ages, but he’s a nice fella so it buys him time. He’ll not win us a trophy. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a manager with worse game
Management than him, baring in mind half of those games are masked over by us getting a result!

Mignolet - If a Charlie Chaplin comedy film needed a goalkeeper, he would be it. He saves nothing. Spared a 4th goal by VAR. Spared a 5th goal by the offside flag (his embarrassing failed punch attempt). He would have almost certainly conceded the shots Foster saved. Never play him ever again. He is as close to useless as a player could ever be. There's not a goalkeeper in the Premier League I wouldn't trade him for.

TAA - All this talk of "Clyne might struggle to get back in the squad at this rate". Well TAA and Gomez are certainly keen for him to get a go aren't they. Schoolboy from TAA today - sloppy, clumsy, taking his eye off the ball, poor crosses, poor decision-making.

Matip - Rolls-Royce prime Ferdinand at the start of his time at Liverpool. Still an alright player but his decline has been steep and obvious. Certainly not much between him and Lovren at any rate.

VVD - I'll wait until he's played more matches to form a fair opinion here. It won't help him that he's surrounded by dross.

Moreno - Didn't think he did too much wrong.

Emre Can - World's slowest player over 10 yards. Dinosaur. I'm not arsed about his contract one bit.

Gini Wijnaldum - Ghost... he always is.

Oxlade-Chamberlain - Set pieces uncharacteristically bad. Wijnaldum levels of anonymous otherwise.

Firmino - Did okay, some loose touches, great work rate and a great goal.

Mane - Did okay.

Salah - Always a threat.

Ings - Good impact, great desire.
Milner - Good impact, got some rare shots on target for us.
Henderson - Good impact. The most creative midfielder we have (that alone says a lot). I like him. Hopefully Can and Wijnaldum will never again start another game together in the remaining time of the universe, with Henderson and Lallana now available.

Player review. Was Matip really a 'Rolls-Royce prime Ferdinand' at the start of his Liverpool career?

Nah, but he had a spell of 4/5 good games last season and a few of their fans labelled him as world class, think they were around October/November of last year's thread.

Barring a hugely unexpected run in the Champions League, it’s another trophyless season. The Carling Cup in 2012 and nothing since.

People make fun of Arsenal and yet they’ve won three FA Cups in that period and are in another final.
It's fair to expect more from Arsenal. We haven't been in their league for some time.
:D

and on Coutinho

Name me a player for a top team who has refused to play for half a season.

It hasn’t happened.

Ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated?

That should be the end of Mignolet's Liverpool career. The loss certainly wasn't his fault, but tonight was just an incredibly Mignolettant display. And for feck's sake, Jurgen, you made the right call naming Karius the #1 keeper for the rest of the season, but if you're going to do that then fecking commit. It dealt a death-blow to Mignolet's never-particularly-alive confidence, and he'll be essentially useless until he moves to another, lower-pressure club (where he'll likely be a perfectly fine keeper).

Oh, and Danny Ings showed more heart in 15 minutes than the entire rest of the team did in 75. Hopefully his skill catches up with it.

 Mignolettant

Still 4 days left of the window, fingers crossed these last 2 games push Klopp into getting one of his targets this window.
Mate, like others have said, we had 5 months to plan how to spend the Coutinho money and our Plan A, B, C and f’ing Z was beg Leipzig for the early transfer of a player we already own. No chance they have notion of signing a player in 4 days. That money is looking pretty in their accounts.

and on the two Danny's

How is it that we arent giving Sturridge the time of day anymore but actually give game time to Danny Ings of all people? What on earth is going on?
Sturridge cannot be relied upon that is why. Only one full season played in an entire career tells its own story.

It was cold tonight as well.
Good job the other Danny has only had 4 serious knee injuries in the last 7 years, then.

Arsenal under another name

We're pretty much just Arsenal with a different name.

We even have a manager that is as stubborn as Wenger on the importance of being solid at the back.

Liverpool's penalty record at Anfield looking like our penalty record in that game against Sunderland

One for the stats fans. We’ve missed 5 of our last 7 penalties at Anfield. Going back to the Southampton league game in May that finished 0-0. (Milner x 2, Firmino x 2, and Salah all missing. Milner and he who shall no longer be named both scoring 1 each).
