Raul Jimenez

I think he's good but not great, Wolves absolutely do not need money so he won't come cheap and I'm not sure he's worth the big fee it would cost.

He’s everything Martial isn’t.

He’s not. Ultimately he is another player who naturally shows for the ball into feet. We could do with a player who looks to go the other way - a Vardy, Aubameyang, Son, Torres, Eto’o, Villa or a Suarez, Hwang, Saha, Drogba, Cavani.

He'd probably be the perfect fit in terms of age and the type of striker we need, but there's zero chance this actually happens.
He's 28. Unless he has a reputation for leading he's absolutely not the perfect fit. Still: United need another striker while Greenwood learns his trade, and he has a good injury record. So I still think this is possible.
They have said a gazillion times they are after one striker and two midfielders.
So they need to get their priorities right. 1st 2 midfielders, then the striker.

We do need a striker that can lead the line, I do like Jimenez but I'm not sure if he's the right fit for us. I doubt Wolves will let him go and I don't think he'll want to leave neither.

I don’t follow the idea that a forward we sign needs to be different to Martial. Surely if we want to play in a particular way the two players vying for centre forward both need to fit that way of playing?

I know we made him look like prime Ibrahimovic last night, but why are we talking about a striker signing when we have Matic, Fred, Lingard, Mata and Pereira regularly starting in midfield? We need reinforcements elsewhere urgently, striker we have 3 excellent options.

So just because we need a midfielder more, we shouldnt sign a striker ? You know its possible to sign more than one player right ?

Jimenez is possible in January, Neves certainly not. It s not only a question of money, it s just most teams don't want to sell their best players in January.
Jimenez may be allowed to move because of the signing of another striker from RB Salzburg ( cannot remember his name)

I've suggested him for ages.

One SAF would've pursued imo given you signed Berbatov from a europa league team a decade ago. Also Yorke and Sheringham going years back.

Edit: Little chance Wolves will let him go. They're actually letting Patrick Curtone go back to Italy as seems he hasn't settled so don't think they have another out and out CF in their squad.

Edit: There you go, Man. United might aswell give me the DOF job.

It is possible to sign many players in a transfer window, the moron in charge constantly briefs how difficult is to sign more than x players, or sign players in January, though. But that was not my point.

There are priorities in everything. What’s the fecking point in having 2 excellent strikers when you have garbage feeding them with zero quality behind them?

Jimenez, nevnes and Grealish = EL final and top 4

I think he d be an astute signing, premiership proven, good scoring record, good in the air pretty physical.

Out of Jimenez, Haaland and Mandzukic i think Jimenez would be the better signing for what this team needs currently.

Id quite like us going back to the days we cherry pick the best players from the english teams

Quality all around striker that would be a great addition to our squad. But why would Wolves sell him midseason when they're doing so well?

Totally agree. Can come in and contribute right away. Think he will be a better fit for how we want to play than Martial. For me, there are too many question marks regarding Haaland and Mandzukic. We need someone that can contribute right away, and Jimenez could be that guy while also being valuable supplement net season if we sign a more long-term striker in the summer.

Still think that he will end up being very expensive for a player of his level. He's the perfect fit for Wolves' way of playing, and in a season like this they probably want to hold on to their best players to see how far they can take it.

Same question for every PL player we’re currently linked with!

Wolves are in a stronger position than most. Still in EL and qualified for last 32 with ease. They're also only six points off 4th.

You'd have better luck in the summer I suspect.

Good player, feel like we missed our chance to sign him when Wolves took him permanently. Scores goals and instantly made an impact yesterday running through our defense and causing problems

27 to 31 is the prime age for a striker, even Fergie said that himself. Would love him here to share the spot with Martial
Plus with Greenwood developing I'd actually prefer an "older" striker than one that would get in Mason's way for years

Would love to have him. All round forward. I'd be very happy with him and Martial, with Greenwood as back up, as our striker options.

Fecking finally. Neves is a player we could have done with for years. Wolves are a club that's philosophy is to sell to bigger teams so just pay them what they want and take the pair. If we don't over pay this month we'll overpay more in the summer anyway.

I think the transfer markets got a hundred times tougher due to clubs making tons of cash from the tv revenue, getting harder and harder to prise players away from clubs. See what develops, i think the club possibly need to be smarter and more agent friendly as in sounding out targets agents very early to gauge players interests and see if they are available for a price, safe us some time in the limited windows

Is that still the case? I think their ambitions have changed a bit now. They won't be bullied easily.

Eh?

Always better having the option of something different. Players all have different strengths and tendencies, and you always miss what you don’t have. Even in a very well balanced and functional team there will always be occasions where things do not go swimmingly and where a change in approach is required, and having players on the bench which facilitate that is preferable to having like-for-like changes available.

It’s very unusual for two players to be in truly even competition for the same position. Normally, someone ‘wins’ the battle and assumes first choice. Where this is not the case, it’s usually because both players involved in the tussle have underwhelmed and neither has been able to make the position their own (see Lingard and Pereira). If both players are in fact excelling, then it’s an excellent position to be in if you have two players who offer different things and a manager can choose who would be the best option for particular games.

Do people really think a new striker will make it big difference as this guy has similar asset to Martial in term of having a good touch, can hold the ball, bring others into play and drop deeper. This guy will cost 50m means he will not be a bench warmer and what will happen to Martial then? I’ll say use that 50m wisely to upgrade our no 10 or right forward/winger as those two position need to be upgraded first.

He has some qualities in common with Martial but he's taller and a good header. More of a Haaland or Zlatan type of striker with a good presence in the area.

He offers us something different and is the type of striker Ole was going for when he tried to get Haaland.
