Rasmus Højlund | Signed for United

That's the problem. We are Manchester United. They shouldn't be unrealistic targets.
And it's fine to say that, but it's not a problem that can be solved overnight. You can just ignore our current financial realities and say "we should be signing X player" when we literally can't afford them/the clubs won't sell to us.

if true that we will go with 3-2-4-1, Rashford and Anthony would cut inside to their stronger feet. It would be even narrower with that "4".

I just think we will still get overrun in away games, with just using Mount to replace Eriksen.

I am certainly not against Caisedo.

If you look for the original thread of him when he was still in South America, I wanted him then. One of those obvious buys especially at the price quote ($4-5million) -- it was a no-brainer. He even claimed to be a United fan back then on the back of Antonio Valencia. Its a shame that Woodward/Judge just didn't have the balls or the knowledge to get the deal done.

I don't think he is it. Looks pretty slow in the highlights
1, he’s deceptively fast
2, Kane is slow as shit (but obviously currently a way way better striker)
3, we have a lot of pace in our team and no number 9.

I find it hard to believe that the player, the agents preferred Brighton over other big clubs. Especially when one of Ecuadors best players used to play for us.

it wasn’t that he preferred us, it was that the deal was so messy because there were so many intermediaries and partial owners that Brighton knew how to navigate because they had just signed someone else from the same system.

I have a lot of reservations about him but how can anyone say he looks slow? Pace is the least of his problems.

So Jacob thinks Atalanta wants 100m.

But Pedulla says they want 60m.

40m diff. Those Journos should sit and agree on a number because they are embarrassing.

There are problems with him, but being slow is not one of them. I saw him play in person about a month ago, and spent most of the match concentrating on him specifically. He has incredible acceleration, very good top speed, and fast "game speed". Being slow is not an issue.
I hope so, doesn't look quick at all on what is quite a slow league.

Yes Kane is not quick but he's incredible in pretty much every other aspect of being a striker. That compensates for his lack of pace. That is rare.

Think this will be done at 40+5M pound. That's around 53M euros. That's a good fee for both parties.

Pedulla and anyone not in England have been saying 60m euros all along.

The more I see of him the more I think he will be a devastating player in 3-4 years. Big lad, plenty of pace and power, tenacious and works hard, shoots with both feet, seems to have surprising bit of creativity as well, keeps the ball well. Still very raw and inexperienced, but he is 20, so this is to be expected. If Ten Hag can make players out of Tadic and Haller, I'm very excited to see what he can do with Hojlund.

Please, just get this done.

To start at £50m? That's already too much. Hope that report is wrong £50m is really the max we should be looking to pay for such a big risk
Cool. I would think that our negotiators have not explained that to Atalanta. Maybe we should try saying the same thing to Napoli, Spurs and PSG and see what results that yields.

Surely we can get him for 30m if we’re lending them Greenwood for the year. They’d be massively upgrading their team
I think you are seriously overestimating the impact of one who hasn't played or even trained with a team for almost 2 years.
Controversy aside, they'd be taking a risk with what he could contribute.

You're right, unfortunately. I just see Balogun as more ready right now.

That might well be true, but I don't think there's too much in it. To be honest, if you could get Balogun from Arsenal for close to £30m then I'd sign both him and Højlund.

Just don't see it happening though.

If Atlanta really wanted €100m, we would not be talking to them. Believe those figures are crap.

Not really. We have two blitzers and they both play on the left. We have Rashford and Garnacho who are the only players who can make purposeful runs in behind and truly carry a football with speed. Sancho and Antony dribble like you do on FIFA when the sprint button is broken, Martial’s legs are jelly, and Amad is more of a creative floating infield kind of runner.

Never seen him play, everything I've read about him says he's got good pace. Some in here seem to think he's slow.

Which is it really?

Apparently he does 100m in 11 seconds

Interesting, I see this quite a lot about players pace. Genuinely quick players that many swear are actually slow.

I have a theory that some people judge a players pace on running style as opposed to how fast they actually are.

What is genuinely amazing is when people think one of our own players, who they've literally watched play for many years, is slow, when the exact opposite is true. Numerous people tried to claim Smalling was slow over the years despite there not being too many centre backs around with his pace.

Yeah it's always struck me as odd and Smalling is a good example. Probably at least in part because of his awkward running style.

People get mixed up between acceleration/agility and top speed. Smalling had a very high top speed but he wasn't especially quick off the mark and was often caught flat footed. It made him look slow. Somebody like Antony is rapid over a few yards but not that fast over a distance.

Tall players like Haaland and Hojlund also look slow because their long legs don't look like they move as quickly. Haaland doesn't look all that fast until you see him leaving defenders for dust.

Sounds like the assumption if Hojlund is definitely coming.

Wouldn't be surprised if #11 the other way was used to seal it

The more I watch of this kid, the more I like him. He's not as good as Osimhen or Kane, but he's got potential and seems fearless. His finishing leaves a lot to be desired though, deary me.

That's somewhat fair. The one issue Smalling did have (and most players of his size have) is that if he had to suddenly turn and sprint in the opposite direction it took a few steps to get up to speed. Certainly not Maguire slow, but small nippy players or players in general who had a running start could get a few steps ahead. Of course Smalling was fast enough he normally closed that distance and got back anyway, but it did catch him out occasionally.

It can. fecking Glazers need to take the 6b and feck off.
