Well he is very young and is clearly on upward trajectory, so there’s always chance he could explode in any moment.

20/21 (age 17-18) - 0 goals in 237 mins (=2.6 games)
21/22 (age 18-19) - 11 goals in 1709 mins (=19 games)
22/23 (age 19-20) - 16 goals in 2551 mins (=28 games)
23/24 (age 20-21) 46 goals in 4050 mins, CL trophy, PL trophy, FA cup, PotY, fans PotY, Denmark got talent winner and appointed Dean of Stanford School of Engineering.

Get Rasmus some 1-on-1 training sessions with Benni Mccarthy. He'll be twice the player by the end of the season.

the prospect of developing a monster us so exciting

The good thing is I can really see him getting the end of some of the passes from Onana and Martinez from the back. But his finishing needs to be improve. Can't wait to see how he improves.

Yeah that will definitely improve

Tbf after running a good 40m at top speed, it's tough for the kid to have the composure or muscle memory to round the keeper esp at his age.
That's why some coaches don't want their strikers to run too much.

I think it's best to drip him in slowly, especially in view of his relatively big transfer fee and considering his lack of experience.

First few weeks most clubs will have one game per week, better to play him as he will have week long training sessions between games.

If he has an Onana-type personality I am sure ETH may bring him on early. But he is still relatively inexperienced and young.

Except Casemiro, all our signings started very quickly, including Malacia iirc.

EtH mentioned many times about lacking goal scorer, but he might started Hojlund from game 1. If we had fit CF then maybe he would have introduced him slowly.

Imo this is rather the reason we're more likely to see the lad when we have two games a week than now. If he starts that means ETH thinks he's the best option there. Else he clearly doesn't. When we have two games a week ETH would need to rest his first option so the lad would have more chance in this case imo.

I hope you stop taking transfer news from random people

I'm actually quite excited we bagged Hojlund - but it was funny to see you posting so matter factly about what Ramos wants because your friend who's a Benfica fan said so

I’m not claiming to be an ITK, I’m passing on what Benfica fans are saying. Read it or not, makes no difference to me. That's the beauty of message boards, we can post up information we hear and then make our own decisions on whether we think it is correct or not.

What????
Counter attacking football is based on getting from one half to the other in the quickest time possible and finishing with a goal and if a young striker with big potential cannot do that then we are in trouble.
There is a player a similar age already at the club that would have no bother doing it.

Not really, start of season is the good time to play the new signings as they will get plenty of time between games to rest/adapt to the pace of the league and also lot of sessions between games where they can work on the weak areas.

After the first couple of months, it's all chaos. Just games with barely any session or rest.

Tbh I don't think ETH would treat our first games in the PL as some sort of training games to ease a new young player in even if he's not the best option there.

The first few games of the season are very very important. If you want to get a good season you gotta get a good start. To get good results you gotta start the best options possible. It's really simple. I'd be really worry if ETH thinks otherwise.

Is he better than Joao Felix, the caf's dearest?
A. Yes
B. Yes
C. Felix is shite

We have martial who is "fit" right now.

I don't think Hojlund will be treated as young player, as in young player from academy.

He will be seen as our first choice 9 who brings the qualities that EtH wants from his 9, it not about treating the games as friendlies to ease the players.

"You gotta start the best options possible" and that is why Hojlund might start as he will be considered as our best option for 9.

That tbh I'm not sure. In fact atm I don't think any of us fans could be sure if he's the best option there or not. Only ETH and the coaches who watch him in training, how he'd do against our own defenders etc. would have an idea imo. We'll see.

Precisely. We got him for his potential and despite the price paid, I don't think he is our best option.... not yet.

I’m sure the last thing on ETH’s mind is rushing him into the team.. so I doubt he even cares that much about him playing the upcoming friendlies

give him time to settle and feel relaxed in the group first

Prefer him to both Ramos and Kolo Muani. We did good getting him, although the fee is quite extreme.

If he's mentally really and good enough, then he's good enough and will play.

We got him for his potential yes, but we also got him because he’s a 9 and we desperately need a 9. I know Ten Hag likes to bed players in gradually but it wouldn’t surprise me to see Hojland’s integration fast tracked so our other players actually have a recognized striker to play off.

He was 17 both in the Copenhagen academy days and Atalanta. From these my bet would be 32. Legendary FC Copenhagen striker number that he would be well aware of.
@LFG which striker are you referring to?

I think you misunderstood my post. At no point did I think you were or claimed to be an ITK - I mean the source was “my friend who’s a benfica fan” - I was just amused by how matter factly you seemed about it as you stated it more than once. The chances of a random Benfica fan knowing what a player wants/is waiting on are pretty slim/not much greater than yours, even if they’re Benfica fans and the player happens to play for them.

The more I watch his every touch videos, the more excited I get. His hold up play and link up play is so good for a 20 year old and he is rapid and nimble. He definitely IS our best option at CF right now and should be first choice from the get go.

I’ve got a feeling that he’s going to say he’s going to ease him in but in reality, match fitness aside he intends to get him into the team leading the line asap.

Friend doesn’t think he’ll be an established starter for us till closer to Christmas.
I can see it from perspective due to lack of United pre season, but I’m a bit more optimistic that he’ll probably start off the bench for the first two games and then start from there.

I think it’s more likely you’re right. Depends how long Martial can stay fit, I suppose.

Wout Weghorst was an established striker for us a couple of months ago. With all due respect.

How would I have stated it in a non matter of fact manner

The thread was jumping all over so I just repeated the information. It may turn out the information was correct and he never wanted to move to England, it's not that unlikely given there are many other examples of players not wanting to do so. The Spain thing is tenuous, but I would imagine more or less all Portuguese players would want to move to Spain, Italy or France if they had the chance, the climates are much closer to their own and the culture not too dissimilar. England has never seemed to attract too many of the top continental players from Southern/Latin Europe, South America etc.
