Why does it matter when we announce him, whether it's today or on Sunday? He's in Manchester getting to know his teammates and probably training already. That's all that matters, no?

Surely they announce a player if he taking part in training?

Not necessarily. Happens all the time. As long as his contract is signed and insurance is taken care of, he can train. If the club decides to release some training photos before the announcement, they'll make sure he's not in the photos. Could also be the reason we haven't seen any training photos since we've come back from US. Think the team had yesterday off but should be back today, if I'm not mistaken.

I seriously doubt you are allowed to train without the paperwork being signed. I mean imagine if he gets badly injured?

They're going to announce him at OT on Saturday, nailed on.

It’ll be tomorrow probably. They’ve pretty much done everything if the reports are anything to go by. I’d like to think the club isn’t THAT prissy and obsessive over gathering maximum potential media exposure to delay it no more than necessary.

In the last 10 years, the only player we've managed to recoup any kind of decent money on was Lukaku and that was because he wanted to leave. We'd never be able to sell the likes of Sancho, Martial, Maguire etc for anywhere near the fee we paid for them, and in a world where we could, we simply don't want to sell them to a rival anyway.
I think the problem is the wage. We should refrain ourself from giving out big wage for players who are not totally proven.

Not before the paperwork is signed. When it is, he can train. Doesn't mean they have to announce it before he trains.

When Højlund was at FC Copenhagen, he always could find the right position to score, but he missed every chance. He actually did not score a single goal in the domestic league. But in the Confrence League he scored 5 goals in 10 games. That's why it was a little confusing to follow him the first time. You could see that there was a talent. But he seemed to be a poor finisher. But that changed almost the moment he switched clubs to Sturm Graz.

It was a bit of a strange situation and I don't know if he just had to get used to being a senior player and FC Copenhagen lost patience too quickly. At the same time, there was good competition for the striker places in FC Copenhagen. So if Højlund did not succeed immediately, he could not count on playing. Especially not as a young talent who had yet to prove anything at senior level.

His development over the past year has been explosive and I hope it hasn't gone too fast for him. Because it is clear that there is great potential.

It’s such a crazy story/trajectory. He really does seem to have that explosiveness desire and physicality to get into dangerous positions. He obviously needs to improve with his finishing which should in theory come with time and experience and familiarity with his teammates. He’s stepped up to every challenge set to him since he left Denmark and he looks a beast in the making. It’s seems fairly obvious he has his feet on the ground and is serious about his football so he shouldn’t let the trappings or pressures get to him. While he was expensive I still feel like he was the best young forward we could have gotten this summer to compliment what we already have. Physically and mentally he just seems right. His game obviously needs work but the raw tools are there for all to see.

I imagine Onana is going to announce him today or tomorrow

Announced by Thursday, first training session video Friday and debut Saturday imo

Nowadays these social media announcements are so unforgivably cringeworthy.

Gonna be fun watching a centre forward with some actual promise. Not a stopgap-forward like Weghorst or Martial, who will always be a disappointment longterm.
