I guess we will find out more about this transfer tomorrow. According to Fabrizio, we're sending the first written offer tomorrow. Would be amazing if we had a quick Here we go, wouldn't it :D

Not for everyone.

As I said before that's an extremely weak link to ETH if it is one.
What are you talking about? The accusation is that EtH likes to sign players he knows. He either knows him or he doesn’t. Not that difficult to understand. EtH has witnessed Eriksen in training first hand and it doesn’t matter how weak or strong that link is. .

Are you feeling ok? Salah absolutely smashed it from his first season. 44 goals in debut season. Your examples are getting worse.
That was his first season in the premier league?

Evra
Modric (La Liga)
Grealish - 1st to last season
De Gea

A certain Norwegian took his time settling in by smashing every premier league record in his first season. “Settling in” period is over rated.
We can't compare him to Solskjær, that was 25 years ago at least.

Salah scored 2 goals in his first season in the Premier League and only played about 500 minutes.

Oh he's accused then? Yeah I guess he knows him from 2, 3 trainings he had at Ajax. I apologize for stating is the link weak or not for the accused.

Still no bid? I'm not exactly sure what we are waiting for, we're spending all this time chatting to Atalanta just to put in a first bid and it be rejected as has been done with Chelsea and Milan already

I was listening to a podcast. In this, they asked the question: How many goals should Højlund score before he would be considered a succes in United?

For me, it would be something like 12-15 goals - and showing he is progressing. Between 8-12 goals would be okay as long as it seems he is on the right track. Below that would be problematic.

What is your take?

Rasmus is a United fan so I am not surprised that he would say no to a higher wage at PSG as long as United is still a possibility.

It's understandable that people would be a little apprehensive over Hojlund due to his age.

But for me I'm looking at Hojlund as someone who at 20 years old has room to grow further and potentially become a mainstay in our team for the present and long-term. I'm not worried about his perceived lack of goals because his goals to game ratio is actually good for a player his age.

But what I'm looking at when it comes to Hojlund is his attributes in and out of possession along with his tactical understanding to carry out the plan. And at Atalanta he's been playing under Gasperini who is a good teacher/coach to learn from. And it's pretty evident that Hojlund's physicality, pressing with intelligence, hold up play, pace and movement off the ball looks above average already at 20 years of age. And we need those traits in our CF to make us a more fluid team with and without the ball where the CF can be a huge threat in transition aswell as have the movement to create space against packed defenses.

If Hojlund can score around 15 goals but also be a threat all across the front line, then I believe the team as a whole will score a lot of goals due to Hojlund opening up space and opportunities for others due to his pace and movement whilst we have possession. And without the ball his pressing game is clever, which would make it difficult for opponent's to play through us vertically.

I was a bigger fan of Louis Saha than I was of Van Nistelrooy. And the reason was because I always felt that a box striker like Van Nistelrooy wasn't as effective outside the box in comparison to a Louis Saha who had the pace, physicality and aerial game to play across the front line, which made us a more dangerous team and brought out the best in Rooney and Ronaldo due to the fluid play-style that developed at the time. That meant we were more unpredictable as a team instead of playing to the strengths of Van Nistelrooy who was a box striker and made us predictable as a collective unit.

I'm actually more concerned about how we will build the play from the back and into midfield. And if we can build the play from the defensive third to the middle third effectively well with consistency, then we will pin the opponent back into their half which will result in more players playing the game in the opponent's half via the high-line. And when you develop a team to play the game in the opponent's half, then wave after wave of pressure will result in a lot of chances being created.

And in that scenario it's important to have a central striker who will hold the ball up in possession and have the intelligence to press effectively without the ball. I think Hojlund at 20 years of age is showing good potential to be that player. His transfer fee will likely be around €60m but overall it would be a good value signing due to his wages likely being much lower than say someone like a Harry Kane who would cost around £100m but would also cost around £600k a week in wages according to reports. Signing Hojlund would also allow us to sign someone like a Amrabat who I believe we really need for the deeper midfield position.

Great post. I think people have to stop thinking of Hoijland as a singular entity, a number 9 who will do it all on his own with the right service. I think he has The talent and physicality to play up top on his own and create his own chances, but I think looking at him as part of the front 3/4 in a fully functioning and dynamic unit is what we should be doing here. Watching a forward create space, goals and chances from their movement is one of the best things in that area of the game. Hoijland dragging the defence all over the pitch opens up chances for Rashford, and he’s just had a big scoring year with a nodding donkey doing that. Imagine an actual intelligent goal threat being part of that interplay. He’s even a threat from crosses, which opens up that side of Anthony’s game that was lost last season, this will improve him too.

I’d be excited by this signing, I think even immediately he’ll make us better, even just his pace. The market is very poor for forwards at the moment, central forwards anyway, and paying £60m including bonuses/incentives for a prospect seems about right.

That can't be right, most of the Caf thinks that everyone would rather live in Paris! white text

I know you have the white text.
But just wanted to say I don't think he would turn down PSG if the difference in wage offer was big, it must be relatively small difference.

When it comes to wages, United aren't shy, if a player does well he is generally well rewarded and quickly So it shouldn't be a competition between United and PSG on that topic.

I wouldn't say all the attributes. Movement, winning mentality, energy, really sniffing out goals to become a high scorer? I think Martial lacks a lot of attributes even when he is fit. Undoubtedly injuries don't help him get into his best form and rhythm though.
Was going to post something like this also. Martial doesn't have the mentality, which is so important at the top level. Being technically a good player should be the miminum requirement to be leading the line at United, not something to applaud.

I think he would.
Most of us Scandinavians grow up watching the PL, and we all have a PL team and a local team we support.
We also don't care that much for the weather, cause we grow up with rain, wind and other shit, so we're used to it. Sure, some prefer it warmer, but not as much as those who grow up further south.
I was never in the position to play for a top club, but i would definitely pick United over PSG, even if PSG paid me double, you get filthy rich anyway, as long as you play for a top club.

I also think that both United and ETH are better known for giving young players a chance than PSG are, which should matter.

Greedy feckers

Not far apart in valuations though. I wouldn’t be surprised if at least half of these transfer fee disputes that go on all over football are more about the payment structures of the total fee rather than the actual fee amount. Clubs arguing their cases to receive more money sooner and citing annual FFP limits etc.

The article quoted €70m - that’s not £68.5m.

No, the article says that Atalanta demanded 80m€ but that United offers 70m€ plus bonuses.

It's getting to silly numbers. I worry from what I've seen of him. Kane is an infinitely better option if there's any way we can get him for 80-90m.
