Rasmus Højlund | Manchester United Player | Shirt Nr 11

Was just so refreshing that his first involvement was a random ball that was bouncing to nothing that Gabriel assumed nobody else would follow and yet Hojlund busted a gut to then just fight with Gabriel to try and win. Fouled him, but showed him right away that he would be different. Can't wait to see more of him.
Yep. Even though he didn’t get the ball that was a big moment and said a lot about his desire and determination.

I noticed a few minutes later Gabriel had a header from a long punt from our keeper. Gabriel headed it completely unchallenged with no one around him but ended up heading it poorly back to us I believe. You could see he was conscious of receiving a physical challenge. It’s the little things.

That Gabriel take down of Højlund was really close. Ref was to far away

Alternate angles on that angle really shows how Gabriel had an arm around Hoijlund. It looked like a penalty to me.

I would edge towards it being a penalty but I think he gets away with it because Saliba is right behind him to clear it up. Had it been a 1 on 1 situation I think it would have been given.

I agree there but it's unbelievably clumsy by Gabriel. Glad Ten Hag has brought attention to it because the media has buried it. The thing is it's a 60/40 in our favour that didn't go our way and nobody except our fans seemingly bothered with it. No replay on Sky, and when they did show it Mike Dean protected his mates again, but there's a sort of nervy silence from everyone else.

Saliba's presence shouldn't be enough to save it from being a penalty but we will never hear about it ever again because we didn't get it and it wasn't Maguire.

We need a siege mentality and every time this shit happens we need Ten Hag to call it out because it's ridiculous. Wolves get a PGMOL apology and that's two big games now - Spurs and Arsenal - we have been fecked in. You can argue we didn't deserve the points yesterday and that's fine but the decisions are absolutely changing our results. We could and probably should have been on 12 points now.

Aggressive and physical. Loved every second.

His physicality changed the game completely. A couple of nice link ups as well. Exactly the type of striker we need. At this rate, start him right away and let him take his licks. The difference from Martial to Hojlund is like night and day.

Looked like a proper striker out there making darting runs through the channels at defenders, pressing and dropping back to defend when needed, and had good link up that eventually led to Garnacho scoring that was called offside.

To me it was staggering what he offered compared to Martial. Was it revolutionary? No, it was if anything old fashioned and simple, but we’ve lacked that so much.

Refreshing to see such an energetic lad up front, tall, strong, fast and technically gifted (the through ball to Garnacho looked easy but was really well). We've been too long without such a striker. I really hope we have good times to come with this lad.

The through ball was actually by Casemiro, but Hojlund's flick in the build up was

The team wasn't creating much, and he was thrown in at the deep end, but you can see the raw qualties.

At 20 years old, he has a massive presence already. The timing of runs, finishing, etc will be improved for sure, but he has a tonne of athleticism.

That alone makes a night and day difference to what we've had recently. He won't let defenders rest like Martial.

I loved his physicality, we looked so much more dangerous when he was on the pitch

Martial ought to be embarrassed.

Was almost shocking to see a number 9 with an actual work rate. Going from Martial, Ronaldo, Sancho and Rashford to this was like plunging into a deep, warm jacuzzi after being left out in a blizzard.

Ah, forgot it in the heat of the moment. It all went so fast and I had to calm down 3 kids because I already thought it could be offside

Hoijlund was basically wrestled into the ground by Gabriel though. For me, it shouldn't have mattered whether there was somebody else there to clear the ball. May be the refs were mates and that's why this didn't even get a second look.

I dont think it was offside and I think it was a pen.

I do still think we would have lost the game though with that CB pairing at the end.

So refreshing to see a proper CF harrassing and tormeting opposing defenders even if its just 20 minutes as opposed to Martial strolling around doing nothing.

You're not allowed to foul someone because your mate is close by.

It's been so long, even just seeing a striker do some of the basics feels revolutionary.

Promising cameo, so lets hope he really hits the ground running after the international break.

How we are in a position where the season almost rests on how a 20 year old lad does up front I'll never know - modern day post Fergie United in a nut shell.

Definitely what we've been missing based on that cameo. Good work rate, holds the ball up well, physical and super quick.

I've read that his finishing can be a bit inconsistent but if he can work on that he could be a world class striker.

Indeed. What next? Forwards who after losing the ball trying to dribble past opponents trying to win it back instead of throwing their arms up in the air and strolling back? Shocking.

I swear we didn’t get it because VAR ruled out their penalty shout earlier in the game.

Yeah, we havent seen those in United shirt for a while.

Am I mad in thinking that penalty call on Hojlund (which of course no replay was shown of?), Were it not to go the other way, is the sort of decision the pundits would be moaning about for weeks? Like - for me it's 60/40 it's a pen - if it's given they wouldn't change the decision. It's a real "welcome to the premier league, man Utd don't get penalties anymore" moment

Just watched the Brighton - Luton higlights. Same kind of grappling - penalty.
