Rasmus Højlund | Manchester United Player | Shirt Nr 11

I'm interested to see how long he can stick with that haircut.

On a more serious note, wouldn't it be fecking mint if this kid just banged them in for fun. I know Rashford was brilliant last season, but he's not a striker, and it feels like years since we've had one.

Nah. Feck that. Keep the haircut.

It could be iconic. We'll soon have a Legion of kids running around Greater Manchester with Jesper Blomqvist barnets.

Rasmus needs to do something about that hair if it leading to a swedish invasion. No greater shame for a Dane :D

He's definitely getting 11 with Mason gone
I think that number stays free for a year and Garnacho picks it up next year if he stays on the same pathway of development.

Next season would like to see Holjund with the #9. Would give it to him now but seems pointless if it makes Martial kick off.

Really need to take the number 9 back from Martial and give it to Hojlund. Why bother giving him an interim number for the sake of a sicknote in his final year.

Because why cause unnecessary issues for the sake of it?

What issues?

We already took it off him before, and that was before he was a joke.

Whether you like him or not he is part of our squad for this season and plays in a position we are extremely light.

Taking his shirt number away after already doing so before will just create an unhappy player in the group for literally no reason at all. We have enough issues.

We gain nothing from doing it and risk creating unrest by doing so.

Here we are with ONE STRIKER who is injured, remembe4 the days of Cole, York, Teddy and Ole? Four top class strikers.
So next summer who would I like to see at our club? Well after watching the lad Ferguson at Brighton I would bloody make sure that we start talking to Brighton and making sure we are in there when he comes available. Today he showed he was strong, skilful and could pass as well as score, him and Holjund could make a terrific pairing, but I’ve never seen Holjund play.:wenger:

Ferguson will surely cost £150 mil or more. I doubt we'll be able to sign him. I'd prefer a more established player to partner Hojlund anyways.

Some of you have a weird obsession with shirt numbers. Most players don’t give a feck.

Those damn sideburns too.

I hope he fulfils his potential but I'm worried about a 20 year old with back problems already in his career.

United badly badly need a top quality centre forward, scandalous that the club has gone so long without one.

garna doesn’t want 11… it’s clear with him moving to 17… he’ll wait there until Mount is gone and take the 7. He is the rightful heir!

He doesn't have back problems, stop being so dramatic.

Although back then we used to play with two strikers whereas now we use one, so four would be two.

Despite losing the game in what was completely horrible way I’m actually really encouraged about the impact hojlund had. Held the ball up brilliantly, link up play was great and his pace in behind look a threat. Super excited to see us with a fully fit squad once everyone is settled in.

Did more in 5 minutes after coming on than Martial did all game. Think his dynamism and aggression will free up space for the likes of Bruno, Antony and Rashford. That turn of pace to get in behind Saliba was frighteningly quick.

Could see some glimpses of nice movement in the box too. We'll get that trained out of him by the end of the year.

You can see exactly why we wanted him. He looks like a pressing machine. When the after burners switch on he can really fly. The aggression and subtle touch for a big guy is going to be so useful. We already had 4 attacking phases of play just because of his hold up and progressive touches/passes. All led to threatening situations and one goal ruled offside.

He’ll be stupidly compared to Haaland in the media but you can see he brings so much more than just scoring goals.

Don’t get me wrong, Haaland is a scoring machine, but genuinely believe (albeit after a small sample) that he looks as though he can be a better all round player, and unlike city who play brilliantly without Haaland, I think he will have a bigger impact on the team in terms of raising the levels of others.

Looks fit, strong, quick, has all the physical attributes and also had a nice touch, particularly the back heel to Casemiro for the disallowed goal.

Gabriel looked terrified of him

Not that Gabriel is a top dog in the PL, but making him shit his pants on the very first day is already a really good impression by Rasmus.

Yep. He does exactly what we have been crying for years in a striker now and it all starts with the movement in the box.

That Gabriel take down of Højlund was really close. Ref was to far away

We also almost exclusively played 442 back then.

Was just so refreshing that his first involvement was a random ball that was bouncing to nothing that Gabriel assumed nobody else would follow and yet Hojlund busted a gut to then just fight with Gabriel to try and win. Fouled him, but showed him right away that he would be different. Can't wait to see more of him.

Agree. He looked pretty energetic out there and will give our high press a better chance of working

Am I mad in thinking that penalty call on Hojlund (which of course no replay was shown of?), Were it not to go the other way, is the sort of decision the pundits would be moaning about for weeks? Like - for me it's 60/40 it's a pen - if it's given they wouldn't change the decision. It's a real "welcome to the premier league, man Utd don't get penalties anymore" moment

The fact that just doing that is impressive, shows just how much we've missed seeing someone up top with the energy and strength to fight with defenders for every ball.

Teams have had it too easy for too long.

It was a stonewall penalty and I can't understand for the life of my why VAR dismissed in literal seconds and why Sky didn't bother to show a replay. Honestly if that was given against us I would have no complaints.

Impressive cameo for Hojlund yesterday. Great to see him come on and bully the Arsenal centre backs.
