So he’s gone to Villa on loan. Can he rejuvenate himself there? Is it last chance saloon for his career in football? Will Emery get a different tune out of him?

I think this is one of the most fascinating transfers (well, loans) in recent memory. I remember the good old days of Rashford and I think he's capable of a lot, although he's disgraced himself a bit with his lack of application.

I'm bitter about it all really and dislike how he carries himself, but good luck to him I guess. Be good to see him playing with a smile on his face for a change...

They have a better attacking outfit that will probably help him perform better than he did whilst he was here the last few seasons, and probably mask a few of his obvious deficiencies we’ve all seen.

My prediction - he’ll be fuelled by spite and righteous indignation and do well right up until the moment Villa get knocked out of the Champions League then he’ll get bored and fall off a cliff.

Very interested to see how he does there. A happier environment will certainly suit him better. Hopefully we can get a good fee in the summer then, assuming no figure has already been pre-agreed.

I hope he does well

He went from my favourite player to my least favourite

I wish him well though

Sort of fecked either way. If he does well, 40m is a steal and if he does badly we are absolutely stuck with him for the remainder of his mental contract.

The unveiling of him pointing to his head in the unveiling

Hope Emery forces him into maximum effort during his stint there and we secure a buyer in the summer. Even if he has one of his purple patches I absolutely don't want him back as we all know he will revert to type very quickly

Not quite Barca is it Rashy. Not surprised we had so few bids.

I'm sure he will make an effort for a few weeks to try get another signing bonus in the summer

I think there's alot more to his struggles than just been lazy.

Whether it's the back injury, losing some pace, the money going to his head, or him never actually been as good as he's been made out to be, I don't know, but I fully expect him to be the same player for Villa as he has been for us over the last 18 months, as that's just as good as he is nowadays.

It needed to happen but it’s absolutely gutting. He’s one of our own yet seemingly completely downed tools. I’d be less worried if it actually looked like we were replacing him with any kind of quality upfront.

So we were led to believe all the top clubs would be in for him.. and he ends up at Villa.. who have just become desperate for anyone at this stage.

Best of luck to him, Emery won't put up with his lack of effort and intensity.

I predict he will have a honeymoon period, score on his debut (so brace yourselves for the oppo ghouls to have a field day) and then come his 7th-8th game, he’ll revert back to his old ways.

It’s weird seeing people getting sad about it on social media as if it’s Cantona announcing his retirement in 1997.

Needed to go, but in the hope we'd get someone else in attack, absolutely fuming now that we're not looking to get anyone in.

Bare bones we're at, going to be a long season.

How much is the option to buy?

All in all, it had to happen but I'm a little pissed that he's gone to another English team.

I hope he tears it up there, turns down Villa in the summer and then we get £80m from a bigger club.

Best of luck Rashy. Been the biggest shining light of the post Sir Alex era to be honest, but the last few years was time to end it which happens. I think he'll do quite well, much less pressure there, he'll be out of Manchester so less pressure on him in general to be the face of the club, the way they play suits him and they're a pretty settled club. And a chance to get a solid fee for a player who was never going to find his feet here again, because he is easily worth that fee if he starts playing well again to Villa

Option or obligation to buy?

I never really felt Diana got far enough away from the Royal Family after the divorce, so that will enter his mind at some stage.

Sort of fecked either way. If he does well, 40m is a steal and if he does badly we are absolutely stuck with him for the remainder of his mental contract.

If he does really well, it should attract interest from other clubs that Rashford might prefer over Aston Villa

To be honest, nice to see him smiling in the Villa signing pictures… haven’t seen that for a long long time. Best of luck to him, still seems to be a United kid at heart.

Genuinely am intrigued by this one, almost more because I want to see him under the care of a different fitness team than because of how he plays. All our players become slugs after too long with United, either everyone else is on peds or they are better than us in that department. He’s an example of someone who lost their lightening speed but way too early given his age.
