Rashford out partying at nightclub hours before reporting as too ill to attend training

Ratcliffe should be very, very concerned by this. One of our leading players, media darlings, a club symbol, has disrespected the manager, his colleagues, and the club itself, which is unacceptable. (Nor is this the first time he's pulled a stunt like this.) It's not like Rashford is setting the world alight and at 26/nearly 27, it's embarrassing quite frankly.

Ratcliffe has to lay down the law, the standards aren't good enough, and if he doesn't then we're fecked for another decade or whatever. It shows Ratcliffe is happy for the circus and mediocre standards to continue. For this reason, Rashford should be sold, and let PSG take him for 100mil as Mbappe's replacement.

What do you mean a school night? He doesn't have kids. For us us we don't do that. Others do, as long as they are on time to work and not hungover, what's the issue? If he wasn't ill who would complain?

I'm sorry but young players are not going to all be teetotallers because he is a "good role model." Unless they are like Ronaldo or for religious/dietary/allergy reasons, they will be like any person aged 18-35 and will like to go out and have fun. That's never left football and I doubt it ever will. The only difference is nowadays footballers tend not to get drunk as much as they used to.
Maybe they should listen to Gary Neville then who can explain the sacrifices necessary to become a top level footballer

That is an epic pile of bullshit. Professional players at top clubs don't go raving the night before training.

Why are people acting like a 26 year old going to a club is akin to a 55 year old? As if once you hit your mid-20s you're too old and should sit in you're slippers sipping tea with a blanket on your legs. As far as I can tell he wasn't hungover but came down with something. Was he late to training or on time? I really don't think it's that a big a story? Some posters here are suggesting he should be sold, stupid.
Tell that to people that get up in the freezing cold to go and graft in a depressing job to earn enough money to buy tickets to watch Rashford put in a half arsed performance week in week out.

I can’t be the only one that finds him completely unrelatable? The state of him and Meekz in that picture is actually laughable to me. Is that what younger folk aspire to be now. FML

I can't stand the sight of him and that's when he's in playing kit. His general attire encrusted with diamonds and earings is horrible.
Can't wait until he leaves.

He has the same dress sense as Lewis Hamilton.
Which proves that money can't buy taste.

He should be sold because he's an overrated underperforming player and an apparent self centred arrogant twat. He's a Celebrity player. In it for the attention

Great post. He’s acted a pure arse over the last few years. Totally sick of him. It only took Sancho 3 years to burn his bridges. Rashford must surely be nearing his limit at this club.

Get rid ASAP, absolutely taking the piss out of the club, how many days left in Jan ???

A friend had heard on good authority (from hotel employees) of his alleged partying in Manchester city centre hotel suites til all hours post OT home games (after going missing on the pitch in most of those games) the season before last, when he was being rightly berated for his poor attitude on the pitch.

If these rumours were true, I put it down to naivety on Rashfords part at best - and hoped they were tittle tattle at worst. My son, like millions of others, looked up to the guy, his laudable work during the pandemic - and a Manchester lad made good for United at a time when City were streaking away all had me wishing nothing but goodwill towards the guy.

He then had a good season and I thought that if the rumours had been true then he had turned it round under the new management. Playing with a smile etc.

I hate to say it but seems I was most likely wrong……he has this week now shunted the ‘partying’ to before games too. This follows on from ‘partying’ after defeat in the derby, and after the much publicised being ‘late for training’ last Christmas.

Does he not get the optics of what this behaviour suggests to the rest of the world as to his priorities?

At best It's certainly not behaviour suggesting his desire to be the player he would have hoped to become when he burst onto the scene is it?

On the pitch when things don’t always go his way he now comes across as self-entitled, lazy and a sulker a lot of the time . Add this latest episode to the narrative and he is now a ‘problem’ that Brailsford and the new regime will certainly not tolerate.

Small % improvements were Brailsford’s thing pre-united. Doubt going out to clubs several hours before reporting back for training after 2 weeks off will wash with the new regime!

If ten hag doesn’t ‘deal’ with him I expect Sir David will!

All very sad.

Is this another one of those "My mates Uncles Mums daughters friend aunty has a friend who works at OT" story

Referring to Northern Ireland as “another country” will go down well with some.

It is another country. Its a constituent country of the United Kingdom, like wales and scotland.

I hoped it was when I first heard it. Nothing surprises me any more. It wasn’t my aunty that told me though.

I can’t understand people defending this kind of behaviour. It’s extremely unprofessional and he showed no respect for the manager, club and fans. He chose a life of a professional player and he is paid a lot of money to do so.

Club should seriously deal with this matter and if it’s necessary sell him as an example. This kind of behaviour seriously hampers our standards and sets a wrong example to other players in the dressing room.

There would be some defending him if he was having a joint and a tot of whiskey at half time

He's one of the highest paid players in the fecking world, what nonsense are you talking

Accordingly, he should be one of the most professional players in the world in terms of his conduct, or be so incredibly talented that this behaviour wouldn't matter. Unfortunately, he's not the latter.

I was watching the BBC pre-match interview ETH had and also the post-match press conference where he got grilled for a whole minute on Rashford (probably to him it felt like forever).

I'm no body language expert, but I just see a man that looks dejected and fed up. I felt for the guy because those questions (especially post-match presser) were tough to answer.

It felt uncomfortable and you can tell he was holding back (probably cause he saw what happened after the Sancho stuff).

Serious changes are needed at this club, regardless of whether ETH is the manager. A lot of these players need to go or need a huge wake up call. Rashford I hope kicks into gear cause there's a player in there. But if not, then no player is bigger than the club.

Rashford doesn't do himself any favors at times, especially with whats gone on between ETH and Sancho.

You'd think he'd know better, unless of course this is the beginning of the end and the player himself trying to force an exit in the summer.

INEOS and the new regime are not going to let this shit stand and I can’t wait to get rid of all these unprofessional idiots who have poisoned this club for far too long.

It's a bit weird, because so many people here say that changes need to be made to stop these incidents, but we know that ETH is big on discipline. I just think some of our players aren't really bothered any more. It never felt ok to me when he went out partying after the City defeat. Rashford probably trains well, but I don't think he has this passion for the game that you see in most top players. He isn't invested enough and that's why you never see him improving any aspect of his game.

He’s a disgrace. Watch him walk around the pitch for the rest of the season.

Get rid.

I've been a big supporter and defender of his and feel bloody stupid for having been. He's a wastrel, the type of character we need out of the club. Give me a less talented player with the right attitude and gives their all on the pitch ahead of the likes of Rashford. Absolutely done with watching him stroll about with a face like a slapped arse.

Not sure where to, PSG everyone's choice of destination it seems, but maybe someone in Italy or Spain if they don't come in for him.

Barring Injuries he may not get a chance to play much. Summer sale beckons hopefully PSG still interested we should get a decent sum for him to help with the rebuild.

Arsenal were only able to move on when they ruthlessly cut ties with players whose hearts weren’t in it.

Rashford should be the first name to go in the summer. Too many players have been pampered for far too long at the club without producing any sort of consistency to match their salary.

There needs to be a statement of intent and Rashford and Sancho should be the first ones out the door.

It's probably not common but I find it pretty naive to think that players don't ever party, be it at home or in a club, the night before a practice session. Footballers aren't exactly top of the list when it comes to athletes who are known for being extremely professional 24/7. Ronaldhino for example is almost as famous for his partying as he is for his football.

I think the wages are more of the issue. Not many top clubs want to pay 300K for a forward that's actually a level below elite.
We are the only ones thinking that if we put Rashford up for sale anybody will want him, considering his salary demands and ego

Mark my word: nobody wants him, everybody else in the world is laughing at us for thinking Rashford is a desirable transfer

Big part of the reason why these players are so brazen is that they know they took advantage of the idiots running this club and they cannot be sold. They also clearly are not too afraid of not playing, which is the only punishment we had for Sancho

If that's you and your life, and I can relate to a degree... Directing your anger at Rashford, and this issue, is probably a waste of your time and energy....

Selling him is the only option. He's not consistent enough to start but his profile would demand it. Best to try and cash in because he don't get any better and his top level isn't elite

They way he acted when Rangnick had the job was probably the first sign something wasn't right with his mindset. Watching him strop about the pitch, putting zero effort in and pulling out of any challenges. I could swear he was pulling his punches on some pretty good chances as well, like he didn't want to score to prove a point about the manager. That's probably paranoia though.

It's all just disappointing more than anything. It's probably best for all parties if he has a fresh start somewhere else. This story is just getting tired and stale now.

For me he was already firmly on the ‘sell if a Saudi offer comes in’ pile along with Casemiro and Varane.

He clearly isn’t enjoying himself right now, and hasn’t for a while. Looks like he doesn’t want to be here. Doesn’t obey basic instructions. Goes against the manager…he’ll know exactly where this ends up.

But he doesn’t have the same talent, neither did he achieve 10% of what Hamilton got.
Agreed. At this point it's tricky to imagine that he'll win a constructor's championship, let alone a driver's championship.
