I don’t know how people can’t see Rashford ‘s struggles have all been down to never getting proper top level coaching before. See Bruno, Dalot, Martial for other examples.

Rashford even his decision making has improved massively… in the past he’d never have laid off that chance to McTominay.

We all know Ole left it to free-styling in the attacking front and Rashford never even learned how to head the ball till ETH specifically recruited someone to train them.

I am sorry but this is not correct - Rashford had his (by far) best season under OGS (22 goals in 44 matches) - when he was mainly injury-free, got to play with Martial whom he seems to get along fine with - and when the entire team looked good and positive.

To be fair he was absolutely shocking last season

Still at no point would I have wanted to sell him. He’s been very unfortunate with the amount of managers he’s had to work with until now, with most of them playing a style that doesn’t suit his game.

His recent form doesn’t change the fact that his attitude and form was whack for more than a year.

He’s still massively overpaid and unless we give him a heavily performance incentivised contract, you’ll never know if he starts to slip back to his impersonation of being a statue on the pitch.

That said, he’s still our biggest goal threat which really goes to show how dire we are up front.
How was it more than a year? More than a year takes him to his 22 goal season and playing with a chronic back injury?

Is this even still a debate, or just people taking the piss out of those who wanted to sell him?

What a wummy thing to say

Some people are so clueless. How could someone at 23 (now 24) who had already had a few good seasons for us be finished? He was always going to come back and find his mojo again.

Well, yes, nobody thought he was playing well at the time. A few knew better than to write him off and many didn't though.

This thread is full of the enlightened tw@ts that make this forum such a joy! Luckily managed to make a right call against the grain and won't stop boring the feck out of everyone about it. Fecking yawn.

Half of it isn't even pisstaking, that would be funny and entertaining, it's bashing people with the righteous hammer of truth and justice. Dull as feck.

I'm having a hard time figuring out which thread is more exasperating. This one or the RR's role has been scrapped.

The IQ of this thread is negative. Bunch of wankers still celebrating the fact that they voted to give a massive contract extension to an underperforming, unmotivated player at the time.

Ah but what price were we willing to sell him for?
I voted to sell on the media whispers that PSG were willing to give £100m. At that price and in the prolonged slump in form he was in at the time I'd have snapped their hands off and would do so again if another poll came up in the same circumstances. He was a passend=ger at the time and £100m for a passenger is great business.

Yeah, but you forgetaddayadda blah blah, you know. And what about the jingle-jangle flubberjibberty?

You definitely seem like one I'm talking about. Every time he scores I bet you feel more and more daft.

Great isn't it?

I was so wrong about him. He really turned a corner. I actually thought he was physically done. And look at him now. What confidence can do to a player

I've learned to stay out of both but every now and then, I get curious, pop my head in and see the same sh*t being batted back and forth by the same morons.

I voted to sell, but only because I thought he was finished physically from his back injury.

We need to keep him.

Isn't he on 200k a week? That's definitely not being massively overpaid, relative to his peers.
He’s paid like one of the best players in the league while not performing anywhere near it for the majority of his contract.

We massively overpaid him for his potential and it’s only the last few months that he’s been looking anywhere near close to it. It’s not his fault, practically the entire team has the same issue, but if we’re truly serious about revamping the squad and the wages, Rashford will surely be one of the first to be targetted because he’s going to be the one that’s setting the standards for any future contract renewals.

Yes it does, especially when the causes were clearly injury and mental state related and were always bound to be temporary. Except to those who think the one season is the be all end all and have a rage boner for local players being rewarded by the club.

So basically the only people who are carrying this thread are those that still think it matters whether they are right or wrong about something on an anonymous forum

I voted to sell but I'm happy for others that wanted the club to stick by him to gloat. If you can't take ya lashes when you're dead wrong there's no point engaging in a debate.

To be fair I'd still think about selling Rashford for the right price, but the price just went up by 100 million

There is not a player in the entire world that I would rather have in our team, on the left wing, than current form Rashford. I hope his amazing form continues and under EtH I think it will. The boy is amazing. Selling him would be crazy for a club like United, for any price. I am sure it won't happen

That’s fair enough but really, today’s the first time I’ve poked my nose in here for a while and I’m just surprised it’s still going on so strongly. Lashing folk or gloating over an hypothetical scenario isn’t my style chap so I get bemused at the amount of energy used in doing it.

I do think people are getting a little carried away with his current form.

He's only scored 9 league goals in 20 games this season. Only 1 away from home too.

He very rarely scores more than one goal a game too.

I'm not knocking him by the way, I'm just saying that hopefully this is just the start for Rashford, and not him hitting his peak. He still needs to show more to justify a big contract extension in my opinion.

Well I can think of at least two away from home for a start

I think it was entirely reasonable to have voted sell last season (as I did) and to now think that was obviously wrong. I think he deserves a new deal but I'm always wary of giving new deals just based on a couple months of form. Sustain it over a season and sign a new deal at the end of it.

I didn't vote in this myself, but it was always fairly clear that Rashford was a huge Manchester United asset going through a rather rough slump. Also, it made sense strategically to offer him a renewal before his inevitable comeback happened. Now, the club is going to have to pay through the nose to keep him.

But what about the two season before last? Not having a go but this is gonna be his third 20 goal season plus season in 4 years.
Why was the question even asked last season? The fact it was brought up is an embarrassment in itself
That’s where the let’s wait and see argument falls down, why didn’t posters wait and see before saying he should be sold?

Just taking the piss. They wanted to sell and now he's best striker in Europe. It's very funny.

this thread just shows the mentality of this forum. the majority has no patience with players anymore and cant see the bigger picture. that rashford is one of our main assets should have been clear even when he wasnt playing well in a team that was not well coached. the negativity on this forum is hard to stand at times. even when a player performes well, it gets used to make another player small. "weghorst did well, martial would never had scored that" "antony did well, but what if he had someone usefull behind him and not awb"

would be nice if more on here could just enjoy the ride and back the players. maybe i am getting old but back in the days the forum had another vibe

Oof. Let the hatred go my friend.
We all agree he was shite last season, but there has never been doubt about his commitment or talent. He has worked through his issues and should get credit for that. Also, it wasn't easy being a forward for this club without a midfield or functioning fullbacks. It's not like the other forwards have been better either. What he has produced the last two months is best in Europe. If that continues or if he even is up there we should be more than satisfied. He is vital for project ETH
