Rashford considering his future...

It's simple, really: Rashford does not want to play the style the RR has been trying to implement. Rashford wants to play in a fluid system with rotating forwards, where the midfield is responsible for defensive duties. In this gegenpress system, Rashford spends half his time being a defender, which he doesn't like, and then can't find himself in the right positions to receive the ball when we transition. That coupled with the fact his dribbling skills have completely evaporated have resulted in him being next to useless.

If he can't adapt, he should go. I like Rashford and I wish he could figure it out, but if he's not prepared to knuckledown and do the hard work, then he's not what we need.

If Liverpool and City can accommodate players like Sterling, Mane, Salah, Firmino, KDB, Jesus, Mahrez and Grealish, then I'm sure we can accommodate Rashford in a similarly dominant way whilst still sticking to the gegen press philosophy. The problem isn't his willingness to work, it's the lack of confidence, lack of squad quality around him and a poor working environment/atmosphere. If we can get a decent squad harmony again coupled with a Rashford who isn't playing through the pain barrier like last season every game then i think he cam easily rediscover his best for us.

In more stable times he would have had his breakout, calmed down, and then be loaned out for a year or two to develop further and come back a more rounded player.
Nah, we loan out far too many players as it is and end up with little to show for it.

What was wrong was running him into the ground while injured. He fully deserved and made a good fist of the opportunities afforded to him.

Wish we gave young hungry talent the playing time this bunch of disinterested bastards get while taking us nowhere.

Some deluded fans on here. In terms of both Rashfords talent and his value.

Those quoting goals scored you can tell probably don’t watch the games and hench base their opinion of a stat which looks worse as each game passes and his goal scoring record further decreases.

Love Rashford the person, model professional and a role model and I wish more footballers were like him. Happy to keep him as a squad player for that reason. But that’s it, I want to keep one of our highest earning players as a squad player because he’s a nice guy. And there lies the problem.

For footballing reasons I don’t see why I’d keep him especially on the money he earns too. And if I can’t justify his position from a footballing perspective then he probably really should go.

Id try to get more but I’d happily take 30 million if we couldn’t get any more money.

I was the biggest Rashford fan going until about 2 years ago. I knew he wasnt the finished article but felt that if he kept improving he could be up there with the best.
Then some real inconsistency started but we still saw some good performances.
Now he is showing absolutely nothing in both performance and attitude. Anyone who thinks he can turn this around is deluded. History tells us that starlets who decline in their early twenties are done and NEVER bounce back to the level of player we need.
It would be a blessing for the club if he left though I honestly dont know who would pay his current wages and the transfer fee we would want. I could not see a Premier club paying more than 40 million for him.

He isn't complaining.

The story is he is concerned with his playing time. In a world cup year.
Not complaining, merely stating that he wants to play more and that may need to be elsewhere, and maybe at a step down to match his current output.

There's nothing in the story about him acknowledging that he may have to take a step down, you've added that yourself to soften it.

He's got on the blower to his agent and had him leak to the press that he's not happy with the playing time, as well as dropping a hint about his contract running down. I will repeat what I said before, he's not playing well enough to be in the team, so if he wants to get back in he knows what he has to do, play better. Leaking to the press that he's unhappy with the game time won't get him back into the team, playing better will. He is trying to put pressure on the club to get what he wants by going public, instead of just getting his head down and earning it.

Good would be delighted if he fecked off. Not remotely good enough.

if a big offer comes in from a foreign team or even newcastle within would look to sell. If ETH comes in and we can sell rashford for 80 plus or something can bring in 2-3 players that ETH might like that fit his system in. Would require this team to actually be willing to move people on though before their value tanks. Could easily move players like rashford/maguire/awb for at least decent money to bring in players that fit a certain system. just need to stop overpaying for english mediocre talent and can easily find the value in the market. Selling those 3 could easily get enough money to revamp the squad if spent wisely-not even taking into account the other high earners that are set to leave.
We would be lucky to get half that.

He’s averaged just over 8 goals per season in the league, in 7 seasons in the first team.
That figure was boosted by his great scoring run a couple of seasons ago, in the COVID broken season, when he netted 17 league goals, the same number as Martial.

I can see why people want to keep him but his wages are becoming a major issue, never mind how much he would want with his contract coming to an end next year.

We really need to make a decision about him and for footballing reasons we need to look to move him on.

I love Rashford, but for him it would be the best to leave abroad and have easy and good life without fan base that will mock him up just because they can. Kid scored more than 25% of our goals in big matches in last 5 years, playing through injury, never said anything wrong, doing his best and all he gets is hate and slating the first time he is in bad form. You would think he will get support from supporters, but no, he did not deserve support, he is a player for Fulham. Well, it is pretty easy to fix this. He is not the first team player anymore, and with 105 career goals as 24 years old, and almost passing 100 PL mark, I am sure there will be some stupid club willing to part away with some money to buy this not very talented arrogant football player, also known as PR merchant. So, he is entering his last year of contract and that should be it for us, we can take some money and invest in whatever Leipzig has to offer.
Isn't he supposed to be scoring that kind of percentage of the goals?

The bar is already set real low when the criteria is for him to play hard and he can't even achieve that.

If he needs a new manager to pamper him before he starts playing hard, that's an even bigger red flag that we should get rid of him.

Perhaps it is but the club often struggles to negotiate 3 or 4 transfers a summer. Selling anyone who hasn't performed means we're left with about 5 players. The priority for this summer has to be sorting out the defence.

Give Rashford another year and then make a longer term decision on him then. This summer is too soon

There's absolutely no chance we prioritise defence, we're gonna be left with 3 attackers, that and midfield will be the priority as we're actually losing quality from those positions.

Here’s an idea Marcus, play your way into the team, do you expect to play even when stinking the place out? Some of these players need a reality check they really do, it’s not like you haven’t been given game time either unlike some.

Seriously. Rashford + 30 for Son would be brilliant
Rashford would still garner around £40-50million alone, so essentially you're valuing an almost 30 year old Son at £80million.

I'm all for selling Rashford (I've never particularly thought he was all that tbh), but we should be replacing him with a younger player who wouldn't demand an astronomical wage. Someone along the lines of Raphinha or Antony.

I didn’t realise he was 30. I thought he was about 25-26.

You've made up the stuff about him thinking that this will get him back in the team!!
He hasn't complained, he has merely expressed a concern about his playing time. Which he is right too.

Everyone has automatically assumes that Rashford expects to play (there's no sign of this from the stories), he hasn't said anything of the sort, only that he wants to play more.

With the exodus we already have on the horizon this summer, then he is low priority and I very much doubt he's going anywhere, even if he had any options at the price we'd want, which seems very unlikely.

Releasing this just after a drubbing by city when he’s been crap for a year and doesn’t deserve a place in the first 11 just highlights everything wrong with the current culture in that dressing room! If you ain’t gonna fight for your place, see you later. Going the same way as his best pal, which is a shame

He can express concern about game time privately to Rangnick, what does he need to leak it to the press for? If it's not to apply pressure on the club then what is it for?

This is very poorly timed. He's having a terrible, terrible season, the team is underperforming, and we've just had a bad loss against a rival team. If he's looking for sympathy from the fans, I think he'll be waiting for a very long time.

The way I see it, he's still 'positionless' and hasn't nailed this down in his time here. We're still really waiting for him to take it to the next level or to really 'come good'. He absolutely does not deserve to be a guaranteed starter. To be a guaranteed starter, you have to be irreplaceable in the starting lineup and the team should feel your loss when you're not there. Yesterday, we were much weaker when he came on! He really needs to just focus on his game for the time being.

He’s reached his tipping point where his next wages will far exceed his usefulness. That’s down to shoddy management at the club and believing the hype the players teams and media create after a few good games. He should only be getting what he’s on now for this deal. Putting him on 100k more a week in case he fulfils his potential would be a huge risk. Surely the player can see that himself. I bet ye he’ll either get a stupid deal here or wait around and do a Lingard. That’s the only way he’s not dropping down in wages to leave

"only"

Jesus.

Only last week Ragnick states that Rashford confided in him that he wasn't happy with his performances, but that he was training hard.
This 'leak', if that's what it actually is, is merely a statement to say 'i'm concerned about my lack of playing time'!!
There's no ulterior motive in it other than what is stated, he is in a good position in terms of his contract so the club have no need to sell right now (option for one more year),

it says he wants to play on the left aswell, which his leaks have mentioned previously

Given the journalists, and amount of journalists, it's fairly naive to call it anything but a leak from Rashford's team. This whole "always been professional" nonsense is rather classic, as is the left wing stuff. As soon as Ole was sacked they threw him under the bus, wasn't slow to have a pop at Ralf either in regards to his performances.

His latest one, the day after we got trashed by Manchester City in the local derby and where Rashford came on with 30 mins remaining and looked completely uninterested, is pretty much as daft as it gets. If anything, he should be concerned about how he's gone from being a nailed on starter in the first period under Ralf, to being behind a 19-year old that's far from ready, and how even the crowd away and home is rather tired of his lack of effort. Just get on with it, start by improving on your work ethics

Is he on £200,000 a week? I remember currently only Thomas Partey is making that much in Arsenal. He is going no where.
