Do they need the money? They don't seem to have spent anything since the Hazard summer.
All reports I have read and from what I understand both the major Spanish clubs are in a dire financial position (Barcelona more so). Think it’s more of a wage issue than a transfer fee one. Their finances were never good but when the Spanish banks stopped lending shady loans to them due to scrutiny from the ECB it quickly turned sour.

The longer this goes on, the more I think it won't happen. There is no news of a bid, more talks of him staying at Madrid come out per day.

It is clear he won't force a move, it is all up to Madrid at the moment.

What are these talks of him staying and what more do you expect him to do?

He's refused a new deal and told them he wants to leave. Should he be kicking over tables and calling them all idiots?

The CAF believes that enough fuss has made it will magically force a move. Which in the real world, we know does not happen.

yeah and puncture all the tires in the parking lot! Then sure, maybe a 5% chance he's not bluffing

No, this is what I am saying, he isn't going to kick up a fuss so Real hold the cards at the moment.

Its frustrating that we still haven't gone in with a bid, I know we are all saying how well we are doing this summer but in reality we havent. We've agreed the Sancho deal which we have worked on for over 18 months.

I admire the way Varane has gone about things, there is nothing wrong with what he is doing, I never once mentioned he needs to kick a fuss up.

Sorry I've no idea what you mean by force a move in that case.

This seems to me like the last leg of a transfer that we get over the line. We haven't agreed a fee so the official will be the final one is my reading of it.

I think we have mixed wires here.

I said that it is clear he wont force a move, so its up to Madrid and United really to get this completed. We aren't going to get a massive discount on £45/50m.

Let's hope this one falls into the

"Player we're obviously pursuing and eventually agreeing a fee on, that we annoyingly sign about 2 days before the first game, meaning he has no time to settle with the squad"

instead of the more recent times "much discussed but not happening, yet we spend all summer on it" version.

Sam Pilger saying this isn't as close as people think and doesn't expect it to come about this week. Very guarded update on YouTube.

If Sam Pilger said it was close, people would have shat on him. He is "tier 4" according to those on Reddit. So I would not pay too much attention to him.

Unless ofcourse he says we are close then I will blindly believe him.

Tier 4 is being kind.

Not reliable.

Doesn't he write for The Guardian/Athletic/FourFourTwo? Pretty decent publications

Wait, wait, wait, back up, we have a tier system for journo reliability? Like, for reals?

Who's tier 1?

That's helpful, thanks.

Sam Luckhurst being as reliable as the Daily Star comes as no surprise.
Absolute nonsense he’s down there tbh. He doesn’t usually speak until things are close/done and if he were to come out say Varane is flying in I’d believe it 100%.

Imagine not being used to the quiet before the storm at this point in life  :wenger: tomorrow and the rest of the week will be very big indeed.
These people are not worthy of the muppet life.

Of course we did, you can’t negotiate without bidding.

I think you confuse it with legally binding bid which comprise bank guarantees and various other financial docs. Of course such docs are not needed unless you have agreed a deal during negotiations phase
