Did anyone see that cheeky tweet about them having to sell one of Rodrygo, Bale or Vinicius and trying to get us to buy Vinicius off them as well since we in conversation about Varane. 65mil euro or something. Desperately trying to raise funds for Mbappe.

I've seen Varane has the same agent as the manager for Madrid, however close it looks I think Madrid will buckle to his demands and we'll be left with looking foolish again.
I don’t think you know what buckle even means.

It means transfer, to United.

We need to sign him, we need a reliable partner to Maguire, somebody is not a weak link and teams will target. I was just watching highlights of Utd's comeback this season on Youtube (2020 -2021) and noticed the amount of goals we had conceded due to mistakes of Lindelof.

1) Against Villa away, tries to tackle Traore could not get the ball and then he slams past a difficult angle (Good defender tackles strongly and get the ball and not make a feeble challenge)
2) Against Spurs away, Kane passes it to Moura which is somehow not cleared by Lindelof who tried to clear it from left foot, then Moura passes it across the box for Son to finish.
3) Against Brighton, cross comes and he misses it and Welbeck score.
4) Against Everton DCL gets a flick on, comes to Bernard and he squeezes it in (a strong defenders heads that ball away).

These are from that video only, I also remember on top of my head goal against Palace at home, where he was bullied by Zaha and goal in the final where he was outmuscled by Moreno, similarly last season semi final against Sevilla where he let their striker score and Bruno had a go at him.

So to summarize, I believe this is more important than Sancho signing and will surely add around 10 points in our league campaign and make us win big finals/semis where there is pressure he will not crumble in fact he thrives in those matches.

It's a London based agency that also represents the likes of Son, Trippier, Walker, Maddison etc.

Them also representing Ancelotti has got feck all to do with a potential Varane transfer, agents are there to maximize clients potential earnings not get involved in internal club politics/decisions.

I’m really excited for this signing. I’m hoping with his speed we can prevent some of those counter
Attacking goals with concede. Varane is also pretty strong in the air which is required in the PL. I think he will have a huge impact for us next year. I want to see more driving runs from Harry knowing he has cover with pace.

If we get him we'll have one of the best if not the best center-back pairing in the league. Many will see how much we needed to upgrade Lindelofs position. We are an attacking team which means we will be hit by counters a lot, for that you need strong and fast defenders, Lindelof is neither.

I like the idea of Varane. Prone to having some terrible performances though. At a good age for a senior defender with championship winning experience.

That is a very very good sign imo. If it wasn't going well or we weren't in for him then ole would've been more dismissive of the varane transfer. He seems excited himself.

That same again was very telling. Basically we'll speak about it when we sign him. Doesn't want to jump the gun but in his mind they seem to be close

Also, started with paperwork for couple of players. So clearly we are working on something which the media hasn't picked up on.

He was almost as giddy as when Anderson sees a Mcdonald's.

Man, I’m liking this summer, we are ON it! Dead ball coach, Sancho pretty much sorted, Varane looking likely. Figure out the Pogba situation and get in an additional signing (preferably DM) and I am feeling quite optimistic :)

When I read that persons comment I was thinking the same thing but couldn’t be arsed getting in to a mass debate on the art of defending and how being aggressive isn’t always the best solution. Varane mostly uses his reading and pace to deal with things. He sweeps up, tidies up but wouldn’t say he is a front foot defender. Not like Maguire. Which wouldn’t be a good thing having two of him.
No, exactly. He is not the type who is jumping in to duels and that can even be seen in the stats if someone wants a more objective view. He is still a very good defender as there are different ways to defend. It is this difference from Maguire that could make it work so good. My only question marks would be if he has passed his peak and how good is he without the worlds best midfield in front of him? Hopefully we’ll find out in August.
