Got the highest rating in the game for fantasy. Hence will be getting highest bonus points ahead of Maguire & AWB.

I think I’m most excited about his signing this summer. It’s players like him in games like today that turn draws into wins where Lindelof used to cost us instead.

If we win any trophies we’ll owe him big time.
 
In a weird way this was a good first game for him to have :lol: thrown in at the deep end with the way Wolves played, he had to get to grips with PL football pretty damn quickly
 
embarrassing. wolves would have scored if they managed to score. get rid.
 
Great start. That's the level to keep to.

Good to have 2 centre backs very strong in the air again.
 
He's world class. We concede today if we have Lindelof or Bailly back there instead.
 
No offence to Lindelof but did you see the amount of long balls to their striker that Varane dealt with?

Those 50/50s would so often result in chances with Lindelof playing.
 
I was shocked to see him pull off such a good performance today - especially against Wolves! This isn't the easiest game to have your debut. So calm!
Let's hope he keeps it up.
 
What a debut. Our back line looks extremely composed. Really loving his combination with Maguire.
 
My MotM. He's making an immediate impact, like a true world class player.
 
He is class apart. I think we have a truly worldclass CB in his prime here. What a signing.
 
I like his passing ability. He always find the better option.
And I want to see him switch the ball to the other flank more often. That's the ability I want a ball playing defender to have.
 
really happy with his debut.

showed great aerial ability, defended very well while others switched off. won pretty much every individual battle.

got beaten once at a corner but that’s more of a zonal marking error.

he’s going to be a great player for us.
 
Tidy debut. Looked his classy self, good in the air, nice passing, looked a level above.

If we can get a half decent midfielder in front of them that moves off the ball to give him and Maguire passing options it would help a lot :mad:
 
I was more excited about him than Sancho or Ronny. What a player. World class player with world class performance
 
Looked calm even if its his debut against a raging bull that is Traeore in a match where we played like Everton reserve team.
 
Wait, am I missing it, but I saw him embarrassingly dropping a bollock on a set piece and being done by Saisse, who couldn't score on two golden chances. It was Wolves best chance of the match and we were incredibly lucky. How can this be ignored? Yous would've called for the Swede's head on a spike for the same performance. Was decent otherwise, but c'mon!

If Lindelof did that blunder but did just as well as Varane in other parts of the game I'd praise him to be honest.

Honestly, I didn’t want to respond when you quoted my post in the other thread, but since you’re still carrying on. I will say this. Grow up.
 
He was eating those long balls!! Very good overall performance. So calm and composed. Hoping for a long and partnership with Maguire

I love that we've got another leader in the team. Just 3-4 seasons ago there were times when the only leader on the pitch was Pogba.
 
Was quite solid, not given a proper challenge but he soon will be but I’m happy with his performance
 
He was quality which is not exactly a shock. Top five defender in the world, no doubt, and instantly one of our best players.

Getting bullied in situations like that is what has the potential to become his weakness in a physical league like the PL. Some are expecting a monster in the air, but that’s more based on his % stats in la liga than from watching him play. He has always been an elegant defender and not using physically strength as his weapon. He likes to backtrack his opponent, covers space, and steals the ball etc.
 
We now have the equivalent of a sane Bailly or more agressive Lindelof. Excellent game from Champions League Varane. Cemented himself as first choice CB in one game.

Based on watching him today he looks extremely strong in the air. The one big chance for Wolves doesn’t change that.
