At the moment, the first team is absolutely toxic. Senior pros who can't be arsed. Low confidence. You might think 'there's nothing to lose' but there actually is. Say we played 5 of the youth tonight and we got tanked by Brentford 6 nil, what sort of state will these young players be in mentally for the FA Youth Cup final on 11th May?

I bet we start several kids in the final game against Palace where, hopefully, they'll be coming in off the boost of a Youth Cup win. If they get destroyed, well there's a whole pre season for people to forget about it and it's just written off as one of those things. Better we get tanked with the youth against Palace than before the final. I think, in this regard, Rangnick is actually showing care for the needs of the young players rather than protecting his own status with 'oh look how brave he is playing the youth'.

Him playing the youth at home during the last home match of the season isn't going to do anything for them that is tangible. They are on the bench. Juan Mata's last home game at the club, probably the same for Cavani.

If the youth players are really any good, they'll be assessed in the summer and continuing forward. You don't just throw out young players on the pitch and tell them to swim when everyone else around them is drowning.

Whether it's a loss or a win today, we hare not getting CL. Sending out a message to useless duds in the dressing room was important today. Rangnick however, chose to be remembered for nothing. Good for him.

I think today and against Arsenal were possibly our best games for this season. A bit too late.

I don't buy this. There is no perfect time to use young players and next season might be a bad time to use them because the results matter again. I wasn't suggesting naming 11 youngsters but playing a couple even if just for the last half hour would have made sense.

Realistically this game was a free hut

The usage of mata has also been fairly bizarre. Seems like he could have offered something if used earlier
 
Who knew benching downtooling thick players would elavate the performance ?

With rashford, lingard, shaw, maguire, pogba, awb in the team we're literally playing at half strength.

Totally disagree and this has been a problem for each née manager.

Ralf and Ten Hag have a similar playing style so I'm sure he will take the feedback from Ralf in good faith.

You've quoted my post but not addressed its point. Doesn't the Youth Cup final mean anything? Can't you see the logic that he's protecting them til after that big match?

Well, we did have it for half a game before the players decided they weren't going to do it any more.

We could always give our youngster a chance, but this is probably the last game we could give farewell to some of our long serving players.

I am not saying hand him a 5 year contract, what I am saying is that the previous manager, the current board and players share the large proportion of the blame. Its easy to make rangnick the punching bag.

Even if we appointed someone else we wouldn't be sweeping aside the opposition, yes me might be better off but I bet it would only be marginally. Who's to say we wouldn't be worse off ?

Lets face facts, we aren't dropping points because the opposition manager tactically outmaneuvered rangnick, we're dropping points because the players have downtool'ed. Even if the players think rangnick is a knob they still have no excuse to downtool because they know he won't be around after 6 months. For me the current mess is on the players and on the board for recruiting them rather than rangnick, by piling on rangnick the fans are again papering over the cracks by pretending "only" a managerial change is needed to fix the mess. Absolute bollocks, the whole squad needs to be gutted along with the structure of the club and rebult. And yes that includes the manager aswell before anyone starts frothing at the mouth with that rangnite nonsense.

Not sure what games you’ve been watching. Ralf has been atrocious tactically and his selection of the first 11.

Those of us that are critical of Ralf are well aware that the squad needs to be improved significantly and the Glazers are shitty leaders, Ole wasn’t good enough and deserved to be sacked, and the organization is poorly structured. All these things can be true, and Ralf can still be a shitty coach / manager.

If intellectually you cannot understand that all of these things can be true, then heaven help you. If you actually think Ralf has done a great job as manager, then heaven help us.

They really don’t have all that similar playing style. If he’s smart, he’ll watch a ton of film, interview 1v1 with every member of the squad, watch every training carefully along with preseason matches. Why on earth would anyone bet their managerial future on a guy with a 40% win record? He should do his own due diligence, and I’m sure he will.

The morons who think Ralf is going to have some massive impact on the squad building and Ten HAg have clearly never worked with a consultant, much less one who has another full time job.

The only team that had a free hit was Brentford. United still want to finish as high as possible and Europa League is way better than Conference as far as UEFA Club Coefficient is concerned. And Europa is an automatic entry into CL if won. So the results still matter, as do performances.

Garnacho is still in line for the FA Youth Cup final and he, like Fernandez, are helping to make up the numbers. That's fine and they have deserved and earned their spots on the bench due to injury and merit.

3-0 over Brentford, 2 games left. Bruno in his post-game interview talks about the need to focus on the last two games, while RR talks about how many windows we need to get good. Looks like he's already moved on from manager to consultant. Ridiculous.

I’m sorry but this is exactly the issue we have every time a new manager comes in. ‘It’s a clean slate and they’ll all be given a chance to prove themselves’. No just bin off the dross.

And yes Rangnick and Ten Hag have some similarities in play styles in the pressing game and quick vertical transitions. Enough that if Rangnick advises that certain players are unable to press, or progress the ball quickly and accurately (which has been a huge problem for us - one of the biggest reasons we actually played well last night was because we had a very high percentage of passing accuracy and weren’t just turning the ball over stupidly) then they should be replaced or upgraded. Unless you’re fine with us fannying about waiting to see if players come good.

He’s spoken about our need for good recruitment pretty much his whole time here. It’s more relevant last night because it was a send off for a fair few players in front of the home crowd.

So why does he have to keep going on about it? After the Palace game is when it's going to be relevant. His primary job is winning the next two games. Bruno wouldn't even be drawn to say something about EtH. That's a proper sttitude.

I liked his analytical answers at the start but it is getting boring now. I dont understand why he still talks about what can be done and not implementing any part of it. And on top of it, every post match , there is a praise for Liverpool and Man city. Its getting ridiculous now, and the funny part is we dont know whether we can emulate Liverpool / Man city even if we do the exact same things as they have done.
