Did you see the game?! City were toying with us for the entire game! They took their foot off the pedal 2nd half. If they wanted to, they could've easily scored a few more

Yeah but a 2-0 hammering?

What next a 1-0 battering?

One thing is for certain, he tried to change how we play, and will have a concrete list of people for the chopping block for ten Hag, if he is to come in. From the recent reports, what ten Hag is looking for in players is exactly the sort of thing certain ones are displaying a lack of in the last few months, so at the very least we've gotten some helpful information on the squad to pass on.

Missed this yesterday, and some people think it's Ralf's fault.....it's the players, they don't give a feck, they don't give a feck about him or his instructions because he won't be there in the summer and they don't give a feck about the club. If anything I hope ETH gives Ralf the #2 spot.

They downed tools for Jose, Ole and now Ralf......there's some toxic personalities and he (ETH) needs to weed them out.
it would be worth it to see their faces

He came in and tried to implement his playing style (pressing etc) realised after the Palace game that the players aren't fit enough to press. Then he had the covid outbreak and postponed fixtures to deal with so no time to train. He let Martial go which was fine as he had done nothing all season and then the whole Greenwood thing happened leaving the team very short up front especially with Cavani not fancying it most of the time. Ralf has been unlucky but he has kind of been thrown under the bus by United and the team, he is not a firefighter to come in a make an immediate impact, he is a team builder which usually takes years.

I don't get this 'team builder' bs. He may be a team builder, but he was brought here for the express purpose of replacing Ole in the interim, and get United top 4.

He has failed spectacularly.

That 2-0 loss to City was far more embarrassing than the 6-1 people kept talking about. At least with 6-1 we played an entire half with 10 men and it was 3-1 until added time, with us trying to get back into game. Meanwhile, that 2-0 loss you're mocking had us look like a minnows playing Man City whom scored 2 goals and then just used the rest of the game as training sessions for passing training as if they were facing Watford or Norwich and not Man United.

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

Worst take ever.

To access the situation at United and start the "rebuild" next season with the new manager in place. RR has the head start and a front row seat to all the nonsense that goes on behind the scenes that are hidden from our view. Let's hope that he is allowed to do his job, and that they take on his advice.
Right, that’s a brilliant move.

‘Let’s take someone who has been incompetent at his job and give him more time and input.

He’s the worst manager of a United team since Dave Sexton, 41 years ago.

Rangnick won’t have any lasting influence at this club, at board level or otherwise. We may have ultimately brought him on board to consult on the technical direction of the club, but he’s got very little credibility in the bank after this season’s display with the first team. He’ll likely be marginalised after this season.

Marginalise Rangnick and pay more attention to Fletcher and the other footballing experts who have served us so well in recent years, I say.

He’s going to be a consultant at the end of the day, which amounts to feck all. He’s a voice to be heard if and when the likes of Murtough choose to.

I won’t judge Ralf on his interim role. It’s too harsh to pass judgment on someone who’s joined mid season, has had to cobble together a coaching team to help him and deal with this bloated, mishapen squad. A penny for his thoughts when he looked at its composition.

He’s mainly here to be in the board room, and its hard to know how much influence he does have. If Murtough has been an admirer of his for years, then Ralf will tell that’s he preaching to the choir if Murtough is pitching long term strategies to him if they’re based and inspired on what Ralf has done previously. Ralf is in his mid-60s and has been coaching for close to 40 years now. Would he want a gig like this at this point anyway? Maybe he’s more interested in getting younger guys in the positions he used to be in.

Ralf could just say hire Paul Mitchell who he’s worked with in the Red Bull system, to be the more hands on figure, whilst Ralf is more a background figure.

Ralf really needs to gather all of the players in one room and tell them that this form and lack of desire and intensity can't go on like that.

Sorry what?

This forum gets more nuts by the day. Just to be clear the term 'hammering' as I've understood it and heard it used over the course of the 30+ years I've been watching football describes heavy losses/wins. Specifically the result so 4-0+ defeats.

But anyway carry on.

To be fair, that game was by far the most embarrassing of Ole’s reign. City didn’t even get into second gear.

Yeah fair enough mate it was an atrocious performance.

I turned 40 this week and today I discovered that people now use the term hammering to describe a 2-0 loss. You learn something new every day I guess.

I think the players bear a great deal of responsibility here. Has Ralf done well, no he has not. Would any interim manager done well with this lot of players? I doubt it.

Bottom line I think Ralf could prove very valuable to (hopefully) Ten Hag as we need to overhaul this team.

You concluded all that from thin air. I don't blame you, nobody has a clue what's going on at the club and especially what will happen in the future and how much influence Ralf will say so nobody can conclude anything different.

On most occasions I’d entirely agree with you, but that game was undoubtedly a hammering. I genuinely can’t think of a game as one sided as that as I’ve seen in a long long time.

the city players said they didnt bother any preparations for that game, cant get any more insulting than that

He’s a consultant whose reputation has taken a kicking, go figure.

The scenario of the game is more important. City could have won by ton of goals if they wanted, but the harsh reality is, they didn't bother.

As explained I've always thought of a hammering to describe the result not the performance but fair enough mate.

I shouldn’t be surprised that many can’t see past the short term.

It was always going to be a challenge for RR given when he came in and the fact he has no top coaches, losing McKenna and Carrick immediately and being unable to bring in his team. He had to settle on a few people who were available which has resulted in Fletcher having to help out. Its as cobbled together as it gets.

When you add to that we’ve not had any forwards available since Christmas (bar Ronaldo and a terribly out of form Rashford) it’s looked grim for a while. It’s no wonder we’ve drawn so many games and the fragile squad has lost all its fight.

Rangnick though has still been a positive for me for a few reasons;

1) The club has shown it isn’t being short term again; it’s looking ahead and wanted to get things right.

2) It’s allowed him to fact find ready for the new coach; he can the transition to his advisory role.

3) We have been restructuring in the background and will start the new season from fresh.

I think anyone expecting guaranteed top 4 under the circumstances was naive. It was always going to be a bonus and given the situation and how it’s unfolded I’m not surprised we are struggling.
What’s the bigger picture that I’m missing?

In the latest signs of a disconnect between Rangnick & some #MUFC players, there have been grumbles about the number of days off.

The performance in the 'disgrace' at #EFC adds to the evidence that the club’s interim experiment has been a desperate failure

I really dislike this group of players.

Never in my life I had that type of feeling about a Manchester united team.
