Ralf Rangnick | ex-interim manager | does anyone rate him?

Thing is, even if he hates VDB then he could bring Maguire on and go 5 at the back. So many options and he just sits on his arse.

It's the same thing when we win, he keeps the same no matter how they played as they won.

As a DoF he might be good, but as a coach he is done and I can see why he doesn't manage. And he wanted another year

Same crap, different season. What a mess.

Good set up. Poor in game management. Still can’t get down with this manager no matter what his fans say.

Its not the same Villa team. Thats quire obvious to even the causal viewer. And we beat Villa in the first fixture, not sure why you're trying to spin the narrative here.

Ole was absolutely diabolical. His win vs wolves was worse in performance standards compared to our loss vs the same team (and same manager) for example. He had one good match vs Leeds and more than flattered in the rest.

Im not sure why you’re trying to talk about performance standards and then separately talking about Monday. We deserved to lose on Monday, it was everything people used to bash Ole with.

Also, you should go back and check the stats from the two games against Wolves. The loss at OT was worse in literally every metric possible. And it was at home.

Listening to his post match interview now and he keeps talking about the first 30 minutes being good. Hate to break it to you ralf but it’s a 90 minute game.

if You made subs we don’t lose that.

Looks dangerously close to a coherent tactical plan today. Really liking the Fred "pressing free role" and the responsibility put on Bruno to sit deeper to cover for him. We also appear to currently be putting in a creditable 2nd half performance! Long may it continue Ralf!

we were shit. Playing long ball for about 25 minutes before they got their goals.

Conte would've had that game on lockdown at 2-0.

Rangnick seems a bit naive to this league. Not Prem Proven.

As has been pointed out it’s clear he made the wrong call today after we went 2 up.

But I always try to look at positives and there was some good signs today. We still have an incredibly kind run of fixtures still to come.

Pointless calling for his head already. I think most of us thought we would lose today anyways. Point gained ;)

Ah who gives a toss anymore. He'll be gone in 4-5 months anyway. Then we can begin the process of moaning about the next useless manager.

hes already dropped loads of points in ‘kind’ fixtures so it means not a lot

How to make the situation even worse eh

He comes across as very small time, I worry he doesn't have the mentality for a club as big as this and if that's the case I can't see what use he'll be in his advisery role either

Is he actually pushing the players in training or is he just too afraid of injuries?

I don't think anyone ever thought he was going to be a great manager, and get this squad playing much better than they were before. He is here to lay some ground work and get us through to the end of the season, that's how I have always seen it, just the reality of watching it play out until the end of the season is going to be a tough watch.

Top four chance was gone after the Liverpool game when the board wet themselves at the thought of hiring Conte.

Hopefully the gap grows enough we can stop even thinking about it, and maybe without that pressure the clowns in the dugout and the boardroom can try and focus a bit on different players, different systems and generally getting ready for the squad being gutted in the summer.

Unfortunately we've got to sit through the next 4-5 months of games though

This, this season just highlights there will not be a light at the end of the tunnel wthin the next decade for me. We're going backwards, we going to be in another 'process' or 'rebuilding' soon, and that'll take few years. Process FC back again.

Now that the intial euphoria is over, I see nothing special in Rangnick as a manager. He cost us the result today and he is very unlikely to guide us to top 4. So here is hoping that he is much much better at building clubs. We need that, but we definetely need a far better manager to replace Ralf with.

Really? we don't have any sub to sub off Matic position and he was obvious exhausted after 60th mins and we still cannot control the ball from back to front when Matic position was drying.

I hate this 4-2-2-2 formation. Leaves our fullback exposed.
We haven’t played that formation for the last few games

Our full backs were exposed due to not having very good fullbacks

Really poor game management tonight, infuriating actually after the second goal give us some breathing space.

The fact it was painfully obvious to bring Donny on as soon as Bruno scored, on top of him recognising in the last game against the very same opponent that the extra midfielder helped see out the game, was just amateur level, honestly.

And to end up hooking the 3 younger guys from the front 4 and leaving a dead on his feet Cavani on was the cherry on top.

It is a three year project really. It took klopp about three years to get liverpool where they are today.

Move Rangnick into the consultancy role and get in Ten Hag.

People need to be patient, what’s happening right now with the players is years in the making from the board. Too many players have lost their drive, all overpaid. Ralf isn’t a magician, this will make it easier for the next manager. A lot of players should leave this summer and new ones come in. Hope the next manager won’t have to go through as much pain of instilling discipline and effort.

Sure, the board decided to change the play style from possession(Van Gaal) to counter attack (Mourinho / Ole) to pressing (RR) when no slot of players on hand have ability to do that.
