Ralf Rangnick | ex-interim manager | does anyone rate him?

If you thought Ole was clueless, I don’t know what this German hipster is. We were getting overwhelmed down that right side and yet he doesn’t make the most obvious sub bringing on Lingard for Greenwood after the second goal.
Both are clueless, it's not like only one of them can be clueless. Don't use Ralf's incompetence to back Ole, it's completely irrelevant and doesn't make any sense

As bad at game management as Ole. Can see why he's been sat in a backroom for most of the last decade instead of on the touchline.

Why is he not putting Lingard and VdB on as soon as we scored the second, to cover for Matic and Cavani being old and gassed, and Dalot being a clown at right back?

Why the 88th fecking minute when it's already too late? Ridiculous.

Proof as if any sane person needed it the hipster choice is rarely the right one

We see glimpses of how he wants to play but the fitness levels and the personnel aren’t good enough to consistently play that way. We need reinforcements.

He is like poor man's lvg, just like when LvG joined us he had barely managed a club side in the past decade except LvG actually had experience of managing and winning trophies with big clubs, what's ragnick's managerial cv like... we may as well as hired rijkaard or blanc at this rate if the board thought it was acceptable to hire a manger that has barely managed in the last decade
Well no. He has to manage the squad hand-on to know how to gut it.

One of the most ridiculous horseshits I have never heard on this forum in past decade.

Yeah he is not that good. He can go back to teaching managers. He is a teacher not a manager.

Might be good at rebuilding clubs but as a manager he's mediocre at best. Don't understand why he keeps playing Fred and he seems to have zero ability to adapt to different scenarios.

I mean that was his choice, not him unable to get a job.

Last season Solskjær got us to 2nd place and to the final in the UEFA Europa League, where we lost because of a nervous keeper. That is already forgotten. But it was out best result since Mourinho.

Both Ole and Ragnick would have had success if not for the clubs problem, loss of winning culture and players not giving their all.

None of them are bad managers imo. You could hire Pep with Klopp as an assistent and still it would not be enough.

Club needs direction. You do not have it.
stop this Ole nonsense. We picked one from norway and nanother from russia. It is becoming apparent neither are of the required standard. Ole had 3 years and we have Jose's midfielders selling games. All his signings this summer have heavily degraded the squad with their performances.

A German accent and a pair of specs is enough to land you one the biggest jobs in world football.

We just got outplayed twice in 5 days by the same team. Watford only scored 4 after we had a man sent off, they had scored 2 before that point - the same as Villa scored today. Young boys a man sent off and an absolute howler in the last minute.

If we’re playing Chelsea, city, Liverpool in the last three games it would be an embarrassment similar to Ole.
Its not the same Villa team. Thats quire obvious to even the causal viewer. And we beat Villa in the first fixture, not sure why you're trying to spin the narrative here.

Ole was absolutely diabolical. His win vs wolves was worse in performance standards compared to our loss vs the same team (and same manager) for example. He had one good match vs Leeds and more than flattered in the rest.

We need someone as ruthless as Abramovich. The board is holding us back big time. Ole should have been fired a long time ago and Rangnick seems to be committing sackable of offenses.

Donny did more than fine on Monday when he came on and just having that extra body would have been helpful. He said it himself on Monday that we gained control when donny came on.
I saw it as that Villa ran out of steam. More than Donny came.

Just because he said so does not make it absolute true.

I mean that was his choice, not him unable to get a job.

Doesn't matter, he hasn't managed a game of football in a very long time before coming here. And feck me did it show tonight. Every bit as clueless as Ole.

Ragnick not doing well does not equate to Solskjaer being better than people thought. He was rubbish, and it has made the job more problematic than ever.

I’m starting to see why he has never managed an elite club.

Think many deluded themselves into thinking Rangnick was something he is clearly not. He was hired to steady the ship, maybe teach the players some new skills and we've sort of steadied the ship but the performances are identical to the crap we were used to under Ole. He was never going to be the answer hence why he was appointed on a 6 month contract. Unfortunately, we're going to be shit until we're not.

What is it with this football club hiring managers that haven't got a f*cking clue how to manage at this level? His coaching staff is a complete clownshow and so are our performences, his squad selections are just as baffling too. I can't help but feel like this team is in serious trouble, this is going to be a monumental challenge to turn around.

If Maguire is on the bench it means he is fit then why didnt he start ?

Varane and Lindelof have no leadership, too soft and the blooper is always coming and along with Dalot and Telles, only a bit of pressure from the rivals and they all crumble.

What is Ralf waiting for to sign up another midfielder ? What is going on ?

No defence, no midfield, we were lucky to get a point today.

Our board could eternally get it wrong and still be in their positions. We're an absurdly bad run club and nothing is going to change.

Its been like that for 9 years ffs. There is nothing serious about it all of a sudden.

Big problem with him is when things don't go our way he's completely clueless and have zero ability to change the outcome, this is what separates good managers from the mediocre ones. At Newcastle when we were 1-0 he shat the sheets and had no idea what to do and today we are 2-0 up and what should have been a comfortable game instead ended up with us being lucky with a point. Villa score 1 and we fold like a deck of cards.

Klopp, Tuchel says hi. He's an interim.
Klopp was a league winner and CL finalist before joining the PL. Tuchel likewise. Anyone calling them ‘hipster’ is just being silly. Agree that Rangnick is an interim though, and must be treated as such.

Even still, it really does appear that he’s not much more than a Ted Talks guy

He's the sole reason we can't play cohesive football. The solo reason our mentality is diabolical. The sole reason our expectations are so low. There's no argument to ever justify we made a mistake no matter how bad things are now.

Yep. Like I said in response to Ole in lot when they asked what if the next man fails, we move on to the next. He's here till summer, I think there's an obvious issue within the squad that makes his job 50% harder then we all expected, so I don't think he'll revolutionise a thing.

Ole has built such a terrible squad. You could cry thinking about how much we've spent for no improvement. It feels like we say this every season or two these days but we need an overhaul of the club. Top to bottom. Seeing inexperienced people like Fletcher running the show, for example, fills me with no confidence.

As someone fully behind him and realising what a job he has in front of him at this club, today was definitely on him not freshening the team up when it was obvious that our geriatric players ran out of steam. I would've subbed Cavani off for Sancho and stuck Mason/Elanga up front, and taken Matic off for basically anyone with two functioning legs as soon as our second goal went in. Their goals were coming from a mile off and they could easily just walk through us since our players didn't dare making any challenges for fear of getting sent off.

Shouldn’t mention a word control in the post match, when he refuses to make the obvious decisions that can help to get hold of it. Not subbing one of the attackers for Donny once we scored our 2nd was inexcusable.

Should've been done even earlier as they were all over us long before that, but yeah, borderline incompetent to not do it after we scored our 2nd.

We knew this before. We should have known this with Ole too. It's on us for thinking either were going to make a significant difference.

Aston Villa make it 2-2 after making 3 subs in the 81st minute, we don't make the 2 remaining subs until the 89th minute. Weak attempt.

Starting to rival Ole's in-game nonsense.

Our cretinous board sure know how to pick em.

people moaning over the hiring of an interim no one had on their shortlist. You think he'd be here if any of our first 10 options were available? If we sour on him we still have to hold our peace and stay patient till they are. We didnt exactly have the luxury of choice.

I really Liked what I saw in the 1st half, so he’s clearly trying to implement something and I love the fact that our second goal came from Pressing. However he’s in game management in general has been awful, but I’m willing to give him a pass on that because he truly hasn’t managed in a long time. And just like players need time to adjust to the epl so do coaches. I remember it took Pep an entire season and like £300 million. I do hope both he and Martial can hash something out, because as much as he tries Cavani has been struggling and Ronaldo’s link up play and ability to retain possession isn’t much better. Anyway onto Brentford guys this is going to be a long and painful process but let’s keep faith #GGMU
