Agree with this. A lot of people said that our squad should be good enough to challenge, and wanted Ole gone because we fell short, while parking the bus and playing two in the middle against weaker sides. Now Rangnick wants the same players to actually attack, press and work harder and suddenly the players are all lazy, can't pass, can't press, don't have the technical ability and are not fit enough. Sure it will take some time and we won't be the prime scouse against Palace but if the players can't cope with the new style, then we will have a lot of rebuilding to do. They'll be fine.
Good managers know how to adapt to their players. Rangnick isn't as rigid tactically as the idea of his style makes him seem. I think the media have always been shortsighted when it comes to these things. We aren't the United Ole inherited and I always find it funny how the media constantly lumps that team with this one. For example, Keane saying that the players did the same thing with Mourinho, despite the fact that almost all of Mourinho starting xi aren't playing or influential. Unless they are specifically talking about Pogba, those type of statements don't make sense. This squadis good enough to challenge with a decent manager. It's not perfect, and some of even our starting players like AWB still have flaws in their game, but that does not mean their not good enough to perform for a top side. We don't have 10 mctominays running around on the pitch. We have Ronaldo, Fernandes, Pogba, Rashford, Sancho, Greenwood, Varane, Maguire, Shaw and De Gea starting large sums of our game. That's far more than most top teams have. We also have the finances to make signings and the value in these players to sell and sign someone else instead. We need to start having a standard again and that starts with recognizing that we have more resources than most teams and therefore not accepting mediocrity because x position hasn't been filled. For years we moaned about how a right winger would open up our attack under Ole, we got one, and the signing showed that the system, rather than simply the position was the cause of our problems. Who is to say our midfield ( Fred especially) isn't simply a victim of Ole's previous tactics.
