 Of course you have!
Check the Liverpool forums .. my opinion is the same as the vast majority (90%) ..... good player, never worth 49m and it's a helluva stretch to ever see him fulfilling that supposed potential. He doesn't have killer tricks, is a poor finisher, can't cross and his shooting is never going to be all that, to say nothing about being physically weak on the ball resulting in him throwing himself to the floor far too often (a pet peeve re. Sterling of many "Pool fans). One of our best attackers last season but that's not saying much at all.

Not trying to justify anything you silly bugger. I've been saying I want him gone for ages .... great deal.
It's a fantastic deal for Liverpool. Daft thing is all this could have been sorted ages ago. City have more or less paid what you wanted anyway. Can see him doing the same to them a couple of years down the line, either he won't be playing enough as potential not reached, or he does reach it and his greedy agent will be touting him around Real etc.

Are you sure you understand the word ? I mean I've never even seen you in the LFC forum so how would you know ?
Yeah, that's the only way that you can see opinions from Liverpool fans :boring:

A year or so ago, there is not a fecking chance that any Liverpool fan would have said he's overpriced or overrated

One does not need to participate to evaluate. It can be quite clear when a group of fans start to use revisionism. Twitter, for instance is full of it if you look for it.

He doesn't get the goals, I rated Walcott more than Sterling, lots of pace and can score goals as well. Pity he can't stay fit.

Agreed - if it was 49m for LFC, so it's actually it's just a decent deal for the club, however I feel he is far from irreplaceable (in fact in Firmino we already have a player better suited to us as a team IMHO, should he be able to transfer his skills to the PL) and we are well stocked with wide midfielders. Many already had doubts about how he is going to progress from his current level. On a player level it's never nice to see good young players go because he is good, on a personality level it's Xmas !
Liverpool fans who come out with the "Coutinho is a miles better player" stuff crack me up.
Last season he was .. which is why he not only won the official LFC PotY award but was also voted #1 by fans compiled from across 7 fan forums based on weekly MoM voting.

Sterling both outscored and had more assists than Coutinho last year? How was Coutinho ever better? He scored 7 goals in all English competitions the same as Chris Smalling.

Of course it's a bargain for City. They didn't even earn the money. There's a difference when you've earnt it.

This. The money is utterly meaningless to City and its fans as it comes from their sugar daddy; he could have paid five times the amount and it wouldn't matter - City have a multi-billionaire funding a game where the traditional big dogs have maybe earned themselves £100m to spend; this means nothing to City and has no negative impact on them at all as Mansour always has more money.

Only FFP had any success creating a limit to sugar daddy spending, but now that that is dying then we're back where we were a few years ago. It can't be long before Roman starts spunking his load again along with Mansour and whomever funds PSG.

As for Sterling then naturally I hope he follows the path of the likes of Sinclair by getting fat collecting his wages and becomes a deadweight around City for the length of his contract, but I doubt that will happen - last season's poor performances were clearly about his dissatisfaction with Liverpool, so now he could maybe get back to what he showed the previous season.

Is this a record for an English player? Or am I forgetting someone really obvious.

Alaba 23 - 80k
Oscar 23 - 70k
Isco 23 - 60k
Wilshere 23 - 90k
Goetze 23 - 115k
Pogba 22 - 60k
Neymar 23 - 150k

Sterling 20 - 200k

No you are not.

That's atleast £19 too much. He is a good player with potential but I doubt he would become world class.

A lot of riddicule about the fee. Granted, it's a huge price but I guess City will pay it as they think it's only a matter of time until he proves himself and then, it would be closer to £80m. Not unsimilar to Luke Shaw IMO.

There's still a doubt about Sterling (attitude/consistency especially) but he's shown he's a great and exciting talent and could easily be worth much more than in a few years. He's certainly shown a lot more than the likes of Harry Kane, who's alledgedly worth £40m.

It's a risk but the reward could be huge - I think in a few years, it'll be seen as money well spent. Of course I hope he's a complete disaster... :D

Shit, I thought it was Euro till this time... Damn, they took City for a ride
Now I realize we got Neymar rather cheap compared to this business.

As stupid a fee as we paid for shaw in all honestly. good pickup for city.

The reported wage on the other hand, is going to cause long term problems.
