Liverpool are no lower than second probably even first regarding their following in Australia for what its worth.

That's the case in Japan. Arsenal thitd, I reckon because of the Japanese players they've had. I have yet to see a Liverpool shirt over here.

In all honesty, I only put them as "possibly level" with Arsenal to keep PR happy. Liverpool are way off the pace of United and Chelsea, and probably some way off Arsenal now in terms of global branding. City will undoubtedly be catching up too. Liverpool's failure to consolidate last season's title challenge, failure to hold on to Suarez, and early CL exit will only continue to hurt them.

I know (of) a fair few foreign Liverpool 'fans' but all they ever go on about is Gerrard, Alonso and Torres and how good they were. Most of them don't really follow the PL anymore, and instead spend their time following one or more of Dortmund, Bayern, Barca, Madrid, PSG or Juve.

Liverpool never had the global reach of United, but their rich history gave them an automatic boost over the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal. Whilst Liverpool have slowly slipped out of European footballing consciousness, Chelsea and Arsenal have made strides to develop their global brands, and Chelsea's success and consistent capture of some of the world's biggest names has almost certainly put them ahead of Liverpool.

I had a student about 7 years ago that loved Gerrard until I persuaded her that he was gay.

Really? I honestly haven't seen many out here. Loads of United, quite a few Chelsea and Arsenal and one City shirt. The only Liverpool shirts I have seen have been worn by Irish lads in a pub in Sydney.

Some of the people I know like him precisely because they like the idea of him and Alonso getting it on. Moreno's existence makes me wonder if it's more than just a fantasy.

I make grammar exercise sheets for my students and use many Liverpool player names in things like police reports or other bad stuff.

All of my Ozzie friends seem to be Liverpool fans. Maybe it has something to do with Harry Kewell and Brad Jones

Yeah, also Craig Johnston back in the 80's. The media here have a huge hard on for them when they're doing well.

Don't know if info like this has already been posted but I thought it interesting, if true:

I read on a Liverpool board that Sterling's agent quit the company he worked for, set up his own outfit & is looking to 'set down a marker': very high wages for his client because of the extra money in the game due to the new tv deal.

Yep.. I can see him making the same stupid decision Pogba did....

He's not overrating himself, just having confidence in his ability. Would you disagree with him? Is he not worth the wages? Is he not top 5 u21's player in the world?

He might be one of the top 5 u21 players in the world. I don't think he is personally, but even if he is, I don't think he's worth the money he wants simply because he hasn't proved consistently he's that good yet. One good season and he thinks he's made it? Not a good sign to suggest he's going to go on and be a great in the game. Then again, Zlatan has always thought he's the best player in the world, and Ronaldo was never short of confidence was he.

If another club thinks he's worth £100k a week to them and they're willing to pay it then I'm wrong I suppose and he should go and get the best money he possibly can.

Pogba was slightly different. We knew what he was going to be - but he hadn't proved it yet - so we offered him a decent wage instead of an obscene one. The reality was in time he was going to get an obscene wage. Juventus offered him more and he was a bit short sighted in taking the cash there and then because he would have made more long term at United. Sterling isn't going to make more long term at Liverpool than he will at City or Chelsea.

He's the anti-Jerry Maguire.

But he's going to make himself a very, very rich man (and a hated one) if he pulls this off. Players will be begging him to be their agent. They don't care about loyalty or the morality of signing a contract then asking for a raise or a transfer 6 months later - they want as much cold, hard cash as they can get - same as everyone in life.

This is true.

Was also posted by Charles Sale who's generally reliable in these things.

Theatre of Raheem's :wenger:

The Sun gets worse and worse!

Legend

£50 million? I dunno am I being harsh but what has he done to warrant that? Even Liverpool fans are calling him overrated over in RAWK. £30 million just for the potential for me.
If he leaves Liverpool and they are "open" for a sale then a lot of clubs will go for him....the price will go up to £40-50m

To be fair they're only calling him over rated because he won't sign a new contract! As soon as he signs he'll be the next big thing again

Who reckons Raheem £ will start tomorrow?
He will but Pool and Rodgers don't have much of a choice. Sturridge(Who gets injured in 1 in every 4 games)is out and that leaves Sterling and Coutinho as their only goal threat in a game which is their biggest game of the season.

If he's fit, he starts. Heaven forbid we should have to play Balotelli or Lambert :wenger:

I believed Sterling when he said he would have taken £100,000 last year. I took it more as he wanted acknowledgment last year of his standing in the club and didn't get it. I've heard a few Liverpool fans say he had 3 years on his deal but generally when a player develops quickly into one of your best then you see a new 4 or 5 year deal, which in reality is just a 1 year extension with a big pay increase.

I'd be happy if he came to United, but it would kill Liverpool to sell him to us. Custis article is more troublemaking than anything I suspect.

That's fair enough, I guess. After all, he did see Sturridge become one of our best paid players after performing really well in the 12 months prior.

I think he shouldn't wait too long making up his mind.

Personally I think he's more of a one trick pony. His speed and agility are the key elements of his game and he's top class at both, but I don't know if that will be enough long term.
I've read a couple of you think time is on his side. I disagree. At some point that won't be enough, defenders will know how to take him and if he waits too long, other clubs could notice too. And if he hasn't agreed on a new deal by the time the new flavour of the month shines, he might miss out on a good opportunity.

If he just looks at his personal future, he has no other choice than to move to a club that has a record of winning trophies (and I'm talking about this century...). Liverpool might have one last chance, to put their money where their mouth is and grab a title or two. Otherwise, for his own careers sake, he needs to find a better club.

You're massively underrating him

Brenda said he was starting, right?

Watch him score, do a knee slide and kiss the badge.
