He's fecking awesome. Had Silva in his pocket

He has a knack of showing up against tough opposition, the only one who i thought gave him a run for his money was Ronaldinho last season in Italy. Other then that hes absolutely fantastic against the bigger names

I'm getting worried, I agree with scholesy :nervous:

As always great going forward and getting better game on game defensively, I can't think of many better fullbacks this season at least.

He's brilliant.

Wish he and Evra could have stayed on. You really need attacking full-backs to get wide to break down a parked bus.

Hope the injury isn't too serious.

Agreed.
After Rafael and Evra went off I knew it would be enormously hard for us to score a goal... Before they went off I somehow had the feeling we would nick a goal

He completely owned Tevez, and that ain't easy to do because Tevez isn't exactly soft. He completely stood his ground with him, to the point Tevez actually backed away.

Hope his injury isn't too serious as he was great tonight before he went off, he has to be first choice RB. Stop all this fecking about with the RB position. In, out, in, out, it's worse than the hokey-cokey. Let's say to the lad the position is his, and let him just do it.

We were also forced to use two subs, which meant less scope for tactical subs later on. Meanwhile City were performing time-wasting subs at 0-0 in injury time, like a proper relegation outfit.

Yeah... but I didnt expect anything different from them, especially under Mancini, the negative cnut.

Hes a gem, wouldn't swap him for any other rb in the world, his potential is off the charts, dominated Silva tonight, shame about the injury hope hes back soon, he and Evra give us such a great attacking dimension from full back especially when we play a narrow midfield in such games.

Only injuries and moments of impetuousness can keep him from being our #1 RB.

Wes Brown doesn't inspire confidence. He's adequete, but his best days are definitely over. O'shea is the same. Rafael is the future and it was good to see him do well. Only problem is he seems very fragile.

That sending off against Bayern has lifted his game by another notch imo. He's become a very, very good fullback already. His potential is terrifying, we just need Fabio to catch up!

Could be around for a decade as long as he isn't lured by the Spanish. His rate of improvement is phenomenal.

The new Cafu. He'll go on to be better than Maicon and Alves defensively injury permitting. As for his attacking game.. its in his locker but he's just focusing on cementing himself in the first team this season.

I noticed he attacked more last season when playing with Valencia. I think he trusted him much more with defensive duties. He is also learning the art of defending and positional discipline.

I think its safe to say that Rafaels always struggled defensively. He was pretty naive last season. Attacking like Evra but without the ability to track back quickly and get into good positions. He had the nasty habit of lunging at players and getting silly bookings.

Thats all stopped this year and he's far more focussed on defending. He looks so much better and I can't remember the last time he made a bad error. My 2nd best player last month only Nani played better imo.

Thats a very good point, with Valencia you need the full back to bomb forward as he is a one-dimensional player at times who needs support to make him dangerous.. in return he provides great tracking back support.

I do think though there is a concerted effort from Rafael this season to prove he's a defender first and foremost, perhaps in response to last seasons CL exit which he may have blamed himself for.

Once his confidence is flowing and he feels truely settled, I predict we'll be seeing spectacular goals from this lad and countless assists. He can be a far more productive full back than anyone else we have.

Pure conjecture, but I know that if I was in Rafaels position. Last seasons game against Bayern would have been a real eye opener considering he let the boys down. He's bounced back brilliantly and proved he's actually a damn good defender.

No one can throw the "Rafael can't defend" jibe at him now.

Yep definitely.

Improving at a very fast rate.

SAF came onto to the touchline and asked him to attack more towards the latter stages of the first half. Rio seems to be his on field teacher constantly giving instructions/teaching.

I don't blieve he let anyone down against Bayern, he was receiving if anything more fouls from Ribery and Bayern than he carded for. Either way the lad is brilliant. If we can now get Fabio clicking then we'll have the most promising wing backs in the world.

He is still susceptible to jump in and allow his man to get past him, as happened a couple of times today. If he cuts that out then he would be very good.

I think he's easily the most talented youngster at the club. An absolute gem. Saying that, he's had far more chances to impress than Fabio, because Evra is such a beast, let's hope he can deliver as well eh?

He must be right up there with the best crossing fullbacks in the league, couple of fabulous balls in today for Hernandez's chances.

Evra is too wasteful for my liking. He gets into good positions and if Fabio gets a chance, he will put in better offensive performance. For some reason, United fans don't see how awful he is with the final ball delivery. His defense is solid and that part he has the edge over Fabio because a defender is supposed to defend first and foremost

He's bloody brilliant. He's still very young so there will be plenty more times where he makes some mistakes but he's gunna be among the best full backs in the World.
