Race for top 4 | Finito.

So it turns out it’s going to be really easy to get top 4 this season. Lots of teams are shitting the bed.

Am i only one who doesn't write Liverpool off? Yes, they are well bellow 4th spot and not looking good but they are always capable to win games in a row

I’m not gonna tag him, have him blocked so really not fair on my behalf.
Not hard to guess! He’s in defending himself in the match thread (I did peek and replied to him, couldn’t help it)
'Blocked' but bothered about me enough to 'unblock', why make things up?

Still think Leeds is an easy game by the way? More clueless nonsense I called you out on.

Win tomorrow and suddenly those dropped points at OT don't seem nearly as bad.

They have zero chance they are 10th and about 14 points behind us, 11 behind Newcastle. They’d have to win all the rest of their games and with their defence this season they’ll struggle to finish in the top 6.

Came here to say this. If we keep playing with intent, Top 4 should be easily achievable this season. If this was ETH’s second season with a few choice transfers, we’d be pushing for the title.

Yup, never write them off. 20-21 season most of them did and they still managed to finish in the top 4.

Feck sake, if Casemiro didn't receive a yellow and a red card on two momentous occasions, we might have been in a genuine title race...

Fred Sabitzer and Bruno doesn't inspire me with much optimism. Hopefully they prove me wrong.

If We lose tomorrow, that trip to Anfield in a few weeks will look daunting.

2 90th minute goals at palace and Arsenal have really cost us. We’re bang there in the title race otherwise!

We are 8 points behind them having played a game more..
Even if they lose both their games against City, they'll still be 2 ahead with us having played a game more.. assuming we win our games in hand..
we have dropped points against Palace and Leeds in the last 4 matches.. picked up 5 from 12.

Do not get suckered into any title talk.. if we are within striking distance with 6 games to go.. maybe.. there will be plenty of dropped points till then.. for everyone.

They have 2 games in hand on United to bring it down to 7 and if United lose tomorrow, it will be on for them. VVD is back in the squad, Jota is back in the squad and so is Firmino.
Thankfully ETH doesn't take things easy like the fans. It's never over till the it's mathematically over.

Good for Man United's top 4 hopes with Brighton and Spurs dropping points and hopefully Newcastle drop points this evening. Need to make it count by beating leeds tomorrow though.

There's a lot of IFs in that given they've not played well for months

C’mon man stop with the reality check…let me dream!!!

We really need a win here and capitalise on teams dropping points around us. Hopefully last week has given the players a kick up the arse they need and realise this lot won’t just lay down every time we play them. Hopefully their little bounce has came and gone.

Hopefully ETH can use this to light a fire up the team's arse for tomorrow. We need to win tomorrow now.

They have no midfield or defence so I would be quite shocked frankly

Agreed.

We also have to play Liverpool, Spurs, Newcastle n Brighton away so we've got plenty of tough games ourselves.

If we finish top 4 in Eriks first season that would be fantastic. If we could do that and add a cup then it's even better.

We are not in a title race. This squad isn't good enough.

You aren't the only one and it would be foolish to write off a side that can be as lucky as Liverpool. Have a feeling they'll get a boost by knocking Real Madrid out of the CL.

They play Newcastle away next weekend. So if they do start winning games then that gives us a chance to gain points on Newcastle.

Indeed. But it is difficult to win PL away games without a midfield and Weghorst up front. They will press Fred and Sabitzer into numerous mistakes. I hope Casemiro's antics do not cost us top 4. Really poor January window from us as well.

Absolutely infuriating that the club was shopping in the bargain bin during January. Arsenal are simply not ‘that’ good & Citeh are taking the season off. We had the momentum to challenge yet find ourselves with Wout up top!

We may well not have won the league but some spend would have made for an exciting challenge.

agreed, if we'd just doubled ronaldos wages then we've have at least 5 more points, he scored 4 in one game the other day sure! we really could have done with that killer instinct up front against leeds

Agree, once again our owners showed they lack infield ambition to be the best, in the past we had opportunities to secure top 4 but they either persisted with managers that clearly needed moving aka moyes, lvg and ole or didn't bother strengthening correctly in January window.

Finally we have a manager that looks the real deal but they decide to not back him this January as they are content with just making top 4 for the ucl money .

It feels like normal service is resuming in the league at just past the halfway stage of the season, arsenal and Newcastle are beginning to stutter now and wouldn't be surprised if they both lost their spots within the next 5 games and man City cruise to the top and Liverpool (with 2 games in hand) go on a run to get 4th over Newcastle

This is one game where I am ok for Newcastle to win even though they might get closer to united.

Can never think of wanting liverpool to win unless it helps united massively.

Fingers crossed, they get into the conference league for next season :smirk:

We are not great but we are comfortably the third best side in this league.

I want Utd to get top 4 and don’t want Liverpool to get top 4. So I’m always wanting Newcastle to win, as they are the only team that can stop Liverpool.

United need to capitalise on these results. Tired of these weak willed players finally there's a manager who's not going to stand for mediocrity

Dropping silly points just cause we are missing one player is evidence we are not ready to be in a title race.

With Felix, we'd probably have at least another 4 points. But people were telling me EtH didn't want him

And Eriksen…

These two are our entire midfield basically, and add to the fact that we don’t have a striker for full season as Martial is always injured.

Go easy on the team, we all would have taken 4th place at start of the season.
